me and my friend normally play marth vs link and he loves to camp and spam projectiles. the main problem is when i manage to get close enough a bomb or boomerang messes up my timing and i get hit with a spin attack and then the whole cycle starts all over again. any tips?

Lol. I know exactly wut I mean, my best friend only uses Link/Y.L so I know how anoying it is to fight em. I used to have the same promblem till I started abusing my range. Id come in with a series of dashdances and such, and usualy swipe away his projectiles with Fair. Remember yur Fsmash has more range then his UpB beilieve it or not. Link is rly ez to combo so I try to keep em in the air with Fair's and Nairs. Uhh, and I edgeguard Link pretty much the same way I do every1 else. Ledgehopped Dair!! I think its the best to edgeguard em personaly.(and EASILY the sexiest) Considering my friend luv recovering with the hookshot (Below the stage) I usualy ledgehop spike em every other game, sometimes twice in a match. My friend also likes to edgeguard me using his UpB. That gets pretty anoying too, but I just try to vary my ledgehops, Fairs, Nairs, and the occasional Counter. Once you get in close you will pretty much have yur way, so just dont let em sit there and spam. Hope that helps >.>

I HATE PROJECTILES!!! but, when forced to verse someone using them I try to waveshield through them, duck under them (depending on the type of projectile), or even dash attack, being that Marth is very low to the ground when he performs that attack and it can lead into comboing possibilities.

just use your jumps carefully. if he's catching you with UpB, you're doing something wrong. its very easy to swat away Boomerangs and Bombs with Fair, and if for some reason he tosses an arrow your way, then you can use your second jump. Don't use your second jump to come at him though, thats probably how he's sneaking upB on you. Just get grounded again and work your way up, its actually really simple once you get the hang of it, but its aggrovating, sure :p The only time I ever have a real problem with it is on FD, with platforms its really easy to work your way up with wavelanding on platforms and coming down with an aeriel.

@LaserBust. Link can't edgeguard you with his up B if you're sweetspotting. Work on that

@Wazgood. After you swat the projectile you're supposed to immediately land because it gives you more options. If you see him comming to attack you behind his projectile you can shield, d-tilt, do a retreating fair, ect. If he didn't follow the projectile then you can continue your approach.

The key is to use mindgames to close the gap between you and Link as soon as possible. I prefer to use wave dancing (a combination of dashing and wave dashing) as a cool approach. It so very fast and it can freak your opponent out. As for Link’s projectiles, use you’re A button slash to knock the boomerang away, jump over bombs abd the arrows aren’t that bad, well to me anyway.

So yeah, over all…use mindgames to close the gap quickly between you and Link., and stay in control with close combat moves. Link gets ***** in the air, keep that in mind. Basic combo, dash A, bair, fair or dair. Don’t dilly dally by dash dancing when there is a HUGE gap between you and Link. I can’t tell you how many times I see Marth players dash dance at the wrong time. Lol. Good luck.

i try to use the swipe when a projectile comes in range and try to get a solid grasp of waveshield also the counter when they are close . and powershielding never hurts lol (^.^)

Well if that Link only likes to camp and spam projectiles for the entirety of the match, you'd just have to time your jumps right and shield. The Up+B part would most usually be powershielded as you attempt to approach him at a close enough range, so take advantage of his lag.

ftilt. excellent spam killer for boomer and arrow, and theoretically the bomb as well if you sweetspot it. this is a pretty good method for spammers in general, not just link(save fox and falco, of course)just use the ftilt's range to your advantage. also, as mentioned, shffled fairs, that way recovery is instant, just in case they rush in to attack after a proj
@laserbust, if he starts spotdodging>upb'ing your ledgehops, it probably means your ledgehoppin too much. just get up with a ledge attack to catch him offgaurd, or jump up, just use mindgames to move the fight in ur favor

The nice part about Link for others is that his projectiles have a relatively slow start up time and are pretty predictable about where they will be going. That's your chance. Shield and roll until you get near him. Shield on his Up + B because after it's finsih, it has quite a long lag time, which gives you a chance to attack.
