What do you guys use as your control figuration in order to play as Ness.

I switched the c-stick to specials so i can do the wavebouncing, auto RAR and what not, I change z to jump so it is easy to pull off firebounding and the pk jump(sorry if the names wrong i don't memorize wat their called). And lastly I switched y to grab.

Whats your guys configuration and is their a better/easier way then the one i use?

I dont think bsticking is necessary nor do I recommend it. I think the application to use cstick as your aerial button with ness are far too important.

except you need the b-stick to pull of a firebounding and pk jump, othwise it would be impossible to pull these off

That's... exactly my controls, except Im with AdamantNESS and I use R for attack. It helps with the double aerial shuffle. You can tap R and X at the same time to use an aerial ASAP and then do another one as you come down.

And I disagree with NZA. While B-sticking is not crucial, it certainly helps and having smashes set to C is pointless in my eyes. I can do smashes and aerials perfectly fine without it. Some say they use it to use an fair and DI backwards. While it is harder to do stuff like that with the stick, it is still possible, and much easier than trying to B-stick without the C-stick.

Basically, doing smashes and aerials without the C-stick is easy, but B-sticking without it isnt.

BTW, you dont need the C-stick for the PK Jump.

B-sticking is okay if you will actually use it apart from when you need to do a decent D-air and don't want to risk fast-falling, then you'd like the regular C-stick. It's a matter of preference but I like to keep Z as my grab button & too many people use Y for jump. Psy.

C-stick down doesn't prevent fast falled dairs. It makes you fast fall if you tap it. You have to press it down slowly, but if you can do that, you can press the control stick down slowl also.

Actually EB360, I got the idea from you to put atk on R from that Cross topic. Also, its not always a good idea to spam fair, since you'll get shield grabbed out of the air.

Not if you use it like I do. You can:

DI bacakwards during the fair
Aerial rise
Aerial to footstool
Double aerial shuffle fair to nair
Autocancel and dodge

I alsmot always use one of those. I hardly ever just use an fair and land in front of the opponent leaving myself vulnerable.

I use the regular control scheme, except with c-stick set to specials and tap jump off. To PK Jump or Firebound I move my right thumb down to the c-stick and put my right index finger on the X button. It takes practice to learn to control the c-stick with your thumb but it is well worth it. For people like me who don't want to or can't re-learn a control scheme (like you would have to if you moved jump to Z), I think this is the best option. Grabbing and jumping should be reflexive actions for any player, and moving those buttons around can screw up your reflexes.

Setting your c-stick to specials is pretty much essential by now if you want to use everything that Ness has. It's too hard to press the A button and a direction to do a smash attack or an aerial? Really?

Since I main the random button, I would keep my C-stick to its original control. Though, the best control for Ness would to set the c-stick to special attacks, it really give an advantage.

Cstick really screws me up, probably an echo from Melee and the fact that I absolutely don't want to get used to it.

Also tap jump off might help, it makes utilt a lot easier and Ness's utilt is a fast way to get them into the air.
I don't use tap jump off because again I can't get used to it, but if you can then more power to you.

Well Ztarfish, you are entitled to your own fredoms. Apparently you like Melee controls, so go ahead.

Actually, for a while I had Z as attack so that I could do quick aerials with Z like I do in melee.

Ness is normal controls for me, though.

Yeah that was really odd, I dunno why the 'No' was out in front. I wasn't telling him to NOT b-stick, instead why I don't like it.

I had made it sound like B-sticking was bad totally unintentionally, sorry xP

But if you learn to controls a different way you get used to them, me if i forget to switch it to my controls i cant play, its instint now for me to use y for a grab.

For Ness I use: L = Jump C-Stick = Special
I think that's all I need, i mean i can still pull some pretty decent stuff without having R as attack.

I just mapped the y button to attack. So easy to abuse short flails now. AS well as other aerials. heh..
