nah you dont need windows xp lol. i have vista and i can record high quality videos with my dazzle dvc 100 that came with pinnacle studio 12 standard (but i use ultimate). it cost me 92.99 dollars at best buy. with tax it was about 99 dollars. and i also use sony vegas pro 8.0 pro for editting which costs 550 dollars.

so for really good high quality videos it costs:
$99 - dazzle dvc 100 + pinnacle studio 12 (works with vista fine)
