becoming worse by getting better?

I went through the phase once. I practice shffling with falcon until I literally fainted, and challenged my brother, who is a casual player that mains marth. I got 4-stocked -__- The best thing to do imo is to learn to apply your tech skill slowly while paying more attention to spacing and mindgames. If you overwhelm yourself in the beginning trying to pull off very technical maneuvers, it will cost you the match.

Like everyone's been saying, tech skill is important, but mindgames are what you're lacking.

This thread kinda touches on that.

But let me give you an example of what I'm talking about.
There's a friend here at ASU with me who's just as good as I am, but in a different way.
He can do all these flashy technical things, where as sometimes I press WD and Falcon FHs [-_-]
However, as I said earlier, we're equal.

I focus on mindgames, and he focuses on technical skill.
As with everything in the world, balance is key. Tech skill is only useful when you get to use it, and like people have been saying, spacing is key to everything. Once you get in there, use that tech skill to ****. But you have to be smart and know when that time is.
