Beating Intense Boss Mode, with Snake (HALP!)

Since Wifi has been rather buggy for me i've gone to trying to beat the 1p minigames, more specifically the Boss Battles. So far I've gotten up to Very Hard mode beaten with Snake, but Intense mode seems more like Impossible mode. At best I can beat 5 bosses before either Porkey, Galleom or Duon come to ruin my day so I was wondering if you guys can offer up any tips. I know Perfect Shielding and Spot Dodging are essential, but are there any other things I should be wary about in order to beat Intense Boss Mode with Snake?

Btw, for those planning to attempt this, it's common to get KO'd at 80% by Galleom. Watch out. :dizzy:

I... cannot help you there. This, too, is rather difficult for me to accomplish. A good idea would be to load stickers onto Snake, thus boosting his SSE performance, but I don't know if you're doing this or not, so meh.

Can you spam attacks in SSE and not have the stale-move negation thing affect you?

I dunno if Stickers work in this mode, if they do I've messed up because Snake has a Black Knight sticker hogging up 50% of his stand just to increase Launch Power.

And no, you are affected by standard Brawl rules here. I've been using Nair and Dair to inflict damage but the problem is that while you suffer tech lag, they can attack nearly every other second.

Wow, you actually managed to beat Boss Battle on Very Hard, I'm very impressed :D

I still don't know the boss strategies, when to dodge, when to attack, and when not to. I'm quite impatient and just attack like mad :p

I'm having a hard time too. I only defeated 7 on Intense. If you get the time and space, you can read a boss's moverments and use your up smash on a boss. On Rayquaza, I like planting C4 when it burrows underground and make it detonate when it escapes from underground.

You're at 7 bosses also? It's annoying huh, getting so far then having Duon or Porkey shut you out with one move.

It's not that their strategies are unpredictable, it's that when they do hit it's extremely heavy with severe launch capabilities. I've had Galleom shoryuken me out at 80% which sucks ***.

Thanks for the praise though.

Why don't we post our discoveries from our defeats here to help each other out? I'll start.
1. Porky doesn't have to get hit in the center to get damaged. You can attack the tip of the claws and it will do the same amount of damage.
2. When Meta-Ridley leaves the screen, that means it's ready to attack. It's possible to avoid all of his attacks by jumping twice and air dodging. Whenn he shoots fireballs, the best place to be is on him(or behind his mouth).
3. Use your F tilt. There are times when using your aerials mean risk getting hit. It's better to use the f tilt because it has less lag and gives you more options. This was especially effective against Galleom. For people who don't understand, try it when he shoots mmissles since you will be out of the missle's range.
4. Learn which attacks to avoid shielding since some of the Boss' Moves are shield breakers, like the Duon's spinning attack.
If you still can't do it, use Meta-Knight and his nair.:ohwell:

Haha, Alright E. Yoshi. Here's what I've noticed on intense mode.

Master & Crazy Hand:
-Easies bosses ever. No need to heal beforehand unless you losing conciousness. Only real problem they pose is their Drill move, that can pile on damage even though it cant KO you. Everything else is dodgeable or Perfect Shield-able.

Rayquaza:
-Has two moves that can KO with <100% damage: The tail end of his spin on the ground and when he rushes horizontally across the screen. All other attacks just pile on damage. According to one of my friends, his head is his weak point so Axe Kick or NAir him there. Watch out for that lightning strike skill, it piles on 40% easy.

Galleom:
-Has a shoryuken that utterly owns you at ~80%. ALWAYS Starts the battle with a standing missle launch that cant hit you if you are point blank range. His "Air Slash" tech breaks shields unless you perfect shield it. Stomps are easily dodgeable. Stay on the ground and you'll be okay unless he readies his shoryuken.

Duon:
-Always starts the fight with either a charging slash or walks up to you to connect with a 3 hit combo. Consecutively uses techniques without rest, which is a problem for Snake and his sluggish Air techs. You can stand on the area between his head, but he'll respond by spinning like a jerk. There is a way to make the battle exponentially easier though, wait for the pink side to fire missles, rush quickly to Duon and let the missles hit him and he'll lose at least 60% of his health bar if not more if all the missles hit.

Petey Piranha:
-Cages do 20% each hit, Butt Stomp does 30~40%. Easy fight though if you stick to spamming Snake's Utilt, Fastest move and allows you to dodge all his hits. DO NOT Shield the Buttstomp, utterly shatters it and then he'll bash you in the face with a cage. Try not to focus on a cage though crazy as it sounds, you can miss when he pulls back then punishes you.

Porkey:
-Always heal up before fighting him, you are more than likely gonna take at least 70% if not more from him. Always starts the fight with a fast charge across the screen and can KO you at low percentages if you are on the wrong side of the screen. His Doom Beam lasts a long time, if you can Air Dodge the first one to delay it then Ground Dodge when it comes back. The Porkey Mines are easy to dodge, but it's easy to lose track of them when dodging Porkey himself. If he pulls off the rapid thrust, you *can* dodge it by crouching as Snake but if it even remotely hits you chances are he's snared you. You can stand on his head with next to no punishment, but it's slippery so it's hard to stay on. Dont try to combo him, just hit with one A move and get out.

Ridley:
-Easy boss, little to no KO moves but can pile on damage. Snake can duck his Electric Charge thing where he flies along the floor and dodge it. His Tail Drag is the damage dealer, you cant DI out of so if you're hit he'll juggle you around. If he copies the Master Hand "Fly off screen and come from the background" move just air dodge it. Nothing hard, but he makes other boss battles tougher.

Meta-Ridley:
-This boss isnt tough, but it is frustrating because he's fast and his moves rely on luck and prediction. He always starts the move with one of two moves: Wing Swipe the stage for ~30% or smack the Blue Falcon, hitting you for the same damage and catapulting you upwards to your doom. Avoid that and it's a battle of patience. More damage Meta-Ridley Takes, the farther left he goes until you are just aiming at a head on the edge of a screen. One thing to worry about though, if he's on the left of the screen and flies straight up, double jump & Cypher if you have to, MR is about to land on the Blue Falcon and KO you if you are standing on it.

Tabuu:
GOT NOTHING. D:

That's all the notes I can remember. Hope this helps on your campaign.

Sorry to double post but I wanted to point out that the Solid Slide (or the Cromslide) is sooooooo good against Duon and Galleom. You get mobility against Galleom and no lag against Duom allowing you to sidestep or roll out of his slashes.

I've figured out how to mitigate damage against Rayquaza and the Ridleys, but Porkey and Duom still give me grief. Any other Snake mains try their hands on this yet?

Galleom (Tank Mode) trophy as a sign of beating the accomplishment, and my neighbors yelling at me for being a loudmouth.

Lol...shoulda mortar'd them :p

But seriously, that's quite a feat. Tabuu flicked me off with his pinky in hard mode >.>.

Perhaps this has improved your everyday brawl style as well...if at least the defensive side of it. :chuckle:

If anything it taught me that fastfalling and spot dodging are your best friend. I'm still having trouble with spot dodging though in terms of timing.
