4 months ago is as recent as there is? whatever
I watched the first match
His lasering is effective, although banning FD is usually the better choice for falco, he hardly got grabbed, so no problem there.

The biggest problem I saw is the edgeguarding. Dont wavedash off of the stage then jump, because it gives them like 2 seconds to up-b and get on the ledge. It might be good as a mixup, but he missed 3 or 4 kills because marths up-b would hit him or just get the ledge when falco wasnt on it. Either press back to up-b to stall when on the ledge, wait for the marth to get close then wavedash so you edgehog, or lightshield edgehog (against him, lightshielding would work really well from what i saw), that way you can grab the ledge and kill him or Dair him onstage

One thing I noticed is that he tends to dash dance really close to his opponent, which is bad. There were, like, three occasions where he was dash dancing, then just got grabbed or ate a forward smash because he was too close.

After watching the first 2 videos.....

-Needs more DD'ing to bait Marth's moves(got counterattacked too much).

-running under Marth and shining isn't viable because Falco is so slow Marth can Dair if he has to to beat it easily.

-finish combos with Bairs or Dsmashes more....guessing techroll/roll behind you Fsmash isn't very effective these days.

-needs more DJ FF Dair/lightshield edgehog/Dsmash edgeguarding

-I feel like you either commit to an action too quickly and get beaten or slip into a predictable laser/approach pattern that is picked apart. Try to mix up your laser spacing on your approaches and when you commit to approaches.

-don't shield when Marth is above you, that's when you want to get him....not when you should feel vulnerable or stuck. Bair/Utilt/at least laser him then.

-punish counters and don't be afraid of the move. the move is typically used in the air and vs lasers.

-combos(mainly your tech reads) need to be reacted to and not predicted so much.

o_o
I've always thought Falco's too slow to tech chase on reaction most of the times. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or I'm just too slow, cause I suck at tech chasing x(

I was leaning more towards platform tech reads, but yeah there are just certain scenarios you can set yourself up to react to pretty much anything in. It's kind of hard to explain.

Critiquing vs Zgetto sometime after I wake up.

Yes!!! Everyone should keep this as like a constant self reminder. REACT!!! It'll make things a lot easier and make you conscious of more things. Imagining / predicting a situation in your mind helps me react faster, but do remember to actually react, not just make assumptions!

One of the most common scenarios is when you dair them onto a platform. Normally Falco is too slow but since the platform is short they can't really roll away from you. In this scenario you can do all of these on reaction:

-utilt, dsmash, or dtilt the no tech/tech in place. Possibly shine if you land right where they land
-fsmash the tech rolls, or utilt if they roll behind you
-other situational options like grab, dash attack, dropthrough bair

The same things apply when you are kind of near the edge. Falco's fsmash goes far enough so that if you're within a certain distance from the edge, their tech roll will be shortened and you can fsmash the roll away/cover the other stuff on reaction. If you are really quick you could probably even shffl a dair to cover tech rolls and continue the combo if they aren't at KO percents yet.

edit: PP, how come you don't like fsmashing for the roll behind? And what would you suggest instead to cover that option?

Thanks :D
I already do most of that stuff, in fact I have a hard time following techs on long, flat surfaces like FD. Man, FD is lame :x

@Zhu: I knew you'd understand. =)

@Gustav: You can still Fsmash it, but you need to react to the roll and Fsmash(it's not hard) instead of just guessing. Besides, if you can start Dsmashing/Fsmash tech in place/away options then you'll be putting them offstage/killing them sooner, which *****.

Vs Zgetto(game 1)

-Falling back when you have positional advantage on Fox to laser more. You can scare Fox a lot and get a better chance of scoring hits if you press on Fox if he doesn't have many places to go and is stuck in his shield.

-Don't laser around a lot when Fox is on the edge. Just laser when Fox could come above the edge or walk around and wait for an opportunity to Bair/utilt.

-Don't fall into Fox(or DJ back into him) when sent into the air if you can help it.

-Try not to roll behind Fox when your shield gets Bair'd. Foxes don't typically approach after Bair'ing so shield DI away and WD OOS away and set up your pressure again. If Fox does start approaching then you could roll behind him to mess him up.

-Try not to airdodge if you can help it. In the situation game 1 where you did, you should have just lasered as you fell to stop his approach.

-Watch Fox's jumping patterns and try to react/move quickly because if you don't then you'll get hit committing late like when you tried to grab at 1:55 game 1.

If you want me to do another game, then let me know man. Sorry I'm so late!

Very true, though I'm pretty worried personally about trying to tech chase with forward B for some reason.

Baxon wants me to look at game 3 as well, so that'll be coming either tonight or monday lol.

I usually use forward b in those situations where your opponent feels like they tech roll away from you safely. you can anticipate and react to it while still being in position to cover other tech options.

Also, I usually jump and forward b for less landing lag. It also seems just as fast if not faster on startup as a regular grounded forward b, but I'm not sure.

Edit/ on rare occasion ill use the grounded one if the jumping one would send me off the stage.

Match 3:

0:06- The uptilt Falcos like to do after spacing moves. It doesn't work man, at least when spaced that hard.

0:09- After a Bthrow at lower(but really any) percents, it's better to keep pressure on the opponent instead of running away. Notice that Zgetto even rolled into you at that time, which would have been a free shine.

0:28- Don't go for that shield grab on good Foxes, no matters how tempting it is. Just shield DI away and fall off of the platform.

0:39- Double laser when Fox is close to the edge is bad. All of the good players know to jump on a platform and beat that now, so you're better off just using standard get up(standup, roll, waveland) options to get on.

0:50- Turn around to Bair/utilt to keep yourself safe? I'm not sure why you hadn't started moving as soon as you got up. You need to keep moving in this matchup so Fox can't lock you down(which most people don't think about but yeah it can definitely happen to Falco too).

1:15- The lasers were too high(you need to shoot at him or a place he's going to soon. Right under the top platform isn't somewhere Fox will go if you're above him) and the Nair was too far away to work(Fox can just DD punish it).

1:24- Could have tried to pressure Fox more since he seemed like he was just going to stand still for you.

1:44- Should have Bair'd/Nair'd. You want to send Fox offstage at higher percents like that because he'll fly far enough to make an edgeguard entirely possible. Plus, his DI onto the edge of the platform consistently meant that you wouldn't be getting that free smash tech chase you were probably hoping for.

Then you die for just doing a lot of moves really quickly when Fox gets close to you. You have to commit hard to an action instead of just doing several hoping they will work.

2:00- WD OOS to punish. Also, the jab was a bad idea. You could have Dair'd I bet. Also, you can react to what happens when you jab so you don't lose a good chance to kill right there.

2:38- Don't try to shine OOS a later Bair like that. Most Foxes will shine afterwards and knock you down and then **** you lol. Hold that shield.

2:41- Fall with a laser sometimes instead of airdodging. You can turn things around quickly that way sometimes.

2:49- Going for the shine waveland to get on the platform to hit Fox is just too slow. Fox can easily react to the waveland and can throw out a Bair just like that. Maybe waveland and bait the Bair or just laser Fox a little before trying something like that. Rushing straight in like that will just get you hit.

A couple more things I'd suggest are work on that tech skill and laser game.

Sorry I'm so late!
