People might hold historical figures to the standards of today, but strangely old media generally gets a pass as being relics from a different time.
Old Media is finicky when it comes to what gets a pass.

I have a collection of Looney Tunes in which a disclaimer is stated that some cartoons (in particular WWII cartoons) are relics of their time and that to erase the content would be to say "this never existed". Of course, some cartoons are never shown today (censored eleven. Let's leave it at that)

Ultimately it depends on what people view as "acceptable".

Off topic and unrelated but I find it funny how, if not counting Diddy Kong Racing and Sonic and Sega Racing, Shantae now has the same amount of games as Banjo. Guess Microsoft needs to get a new Banjo up stat! But please... give us Banjo Threeie!

Choo Choo? Polar Panda sure has been teasing Rare Replay a lot on her twitter so. (I am almost positive this is her twitter anyway)
There was a problem fetching the tweet

Good point. Rare replay is more marketed towards people like us. Who really don't care what the rating of a game is and remember the games fondly. It's not exactly a game a parent would buy little Timmy anyway or a game a kid would beg for. So they wouldn't exactly be worrying about the sells from those people.

Even the Xbox version of the game doesn't have one rating. It says the complete range. I'm trying to remember if they even asked for an ID the last time I bought rare replay.View attachment 201133
Funnily enough, I've encountered both ends of the spectrum when Purchasing Rare Replay.
Before I had my own XBox, I bought the game with a friend and they asked for ID. End of that story. A year later, I had my own XBone X and repurchased the game, and I questioned the Gamestop employee that sold me the game as to why he didn't request ID. His answer was (almost to quote) "Come on, anyone who's played these games know the M portion is the poop battle and when the bee bangs the flower." Loved that guy.

So apparently Shantae is getting a new game in her series and this may seem abit off topic but I've got a friend who really Enjoys the Shantae games and wants Shantae in smash, etc, etc. and we joke and make fun of each other all the time so when he told me Shantae was getting a new game I couldn't help but make fun of myself. As painful as it is to post this with you guys since its horribly true I also laughed pretty hard at the same time, Regardless, Enjoy this Sh**ty 8 minute OC

Ya’ll are over thinking this, Rare Replay would come to Switch as is with the DKC Trilogy, Diddy Kong Racing and DK64 and nothing more. And it would have the same E-M rating it has on Xbox One

What disappointed me about RR is that I truly believed that they were going to release one extra game as DLC every year from their incredible backlog of non-nintendo owned games. You know, 'cause then it'd be an extra game for every extra year.

Honestly it'd be a shame if Star Fox Adventures got excluded from a Nintendofied Rare Replay. Not the greatest game around, but it's still a Nintendo/Rare joint much in the very same way the DK games were. Krystal's assist trophy appearance in Ultimate is even based directly on it, staff and lewd tribal outfit and all, so it's not like being completely swept under the rug.

I think I figured it out. You guys remember that one datamined while back that discovered what was essentially SNES Online? It had very noteworthy SNES games, but there were notably 2 first party icons missing: DKC trilogy and Earthbound. I predict Nintendo’s putting all the DK games by Rare on a rerelease of Rare Replay while also finally giving us the Mother trilogy in HD

In a response to this tweet, she said she’s heard somewhere around the 15th but it isn’t locked for sure yet
Wanna hear something crazy? There was a 4 chan leak a couple of days ago that got the exact date of when Mario Maker 2 releases, which we now know for sure is June 14. The direct is also supposed to happen the 11th, pretty close to the 15th. Guess what else was in that leak? SNES Online and Mother HD Trilogy. The pieces are starting to fall into place...

Boy would it be crazy if we get another Nintendo Direct next month.

If not a dedicated Smash Direct, I guess a mini-direct is possible.

king zell and Emily Rogers mentioned the existence of a Pikmin 3 Switch port, that'd be a good place to show it.

SNES online? Mother HD collection? anything to do with Pikmin? Keeping our expectations low I see. :4pacman:

Well, like I said, king zell has already stated that Pikmin 3 Switch exists.

Literally all those other games have been shown off (except for MPT which seems to be limbo), so I feel it's only a matter of time before we see Pikmin 3. Emily also said we're due to get a port of a 2013 Wii U game, obviously referring to Pikmin 3.

I mean they're courting more third-parties that provide M-rated titles now than they used to, but have they really added that many more themselves? They've co-opted Bayonetta and dabbled in single iterations here and there for a long time, but when Rare left so too did Conker, Perfect Dark, and the possibility of easy GoldenEye followups (and Killer Instinct - though that was T). I don't really think the company skews any older now than it did then, especially with the rise of Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Nintendogs, the Miis, etc, and the gradually diminishing prominence of series like Metroid and F-Zero.
I'll respond to this since he was agreeing with me and quoting me in the first place. But to be honest I'm not sure I understand what point you're making here. I made the exact same point because Nintendo isn't doing that. You're exactly right. But Rare Replay isn't Nintendo's? So I'm not sure how that is at all relevant.

Unless you mean that it would cause problems IF we are to assume that Nintendo owned games/IPs would be added like people are theorizing with the DKC trilogy? In which case maybe, but honestly I still doubt it would be an issue. And honestly if it was, my instinct is that they just wouldn't change the collection to begin with.

Well, Sabi did say she was told there would be "changes" from the Xbone version. Take that as you will.

If we got an HD Mother trilogy I would cry. I would cry and then I would never ask Nintendo for anything ever again.

Oh hmm, I guess I missed that. Well if we are assuming this person has legit info then I suppose that complicates things. But I'm super out of the loop as far as leakers go so I'll just wait it out and see what happens I guess. I still feel like we'd get BFD though. It'd be weird if we didn't considering it was on N64 after all. Also I'll be a little sad if we don't. Never actually gotten around to being able to play it since I wasn't allowed as a kid.

So in regards to the lootcrate. It appears like there was supposed to be a Banjo-Kazooie item to appear in this months lootcrate but it was taken out. This means they left the logo up way after they decided to not include the item in the box.

I swear to god all this blueballing better mean something.
I love and hate game companies for this very reason. All the jiggies seem to be falling into place. Yet there is that nagging concern that it could either be something completely different or something akin to an underwhelming fart noise.

Kazooie Koozies, of course.

I just realized something. Polar panda is saying we’ll be looking forward to next month for Nintendo. If we’re getting Rare Replay in April then that’s also around the time the new Smash update comes out.

I wonder. Would those two things go hand in hand. :4pacman:

That would definitely go well together. My personal theory is that Banjo is gonna be announced at E3. It would be the perfect way of showing the world that Nintendo and Microsoft are working together, plus they are the only companies attending E3.

I doubt Playtonic's post has anything to do with Banjo. 57 is more likely to be the number of days until they either show the Yooka DLC or announce their next project.

Star Fox Adventures is the one game I'm looking forward to the most and would play first if a Nintendo themed Rare Replay does get announced, Even though I grew up gaming during the N64 and Gamecube era, I never got the chance to play it, But has always been on my radar for long time.

It's only fitting that not only is it the last major Rareware game I have yet to play, But it's also the last major game they made under Nintendo before the buyout.

But they also made Grunty’s Revenge, Banjo-Pilot, Diddy Kong Racing and Viva Piñata on handheld Nintendo consoles

Don't forget Mr Pants, the DKC GBA Trilogy and Saberwulf!

I doubt they’d do a cryptic countdown just for DLC
They've been working on their new game for a long time now, it could release fairly soon. I've been expecting an announcement at/around E3 for that though.

Playtonic just this minute tweeted 58 so there goes my theory out the window lol.

So Playtonic just tweeted a follow up tweet, now “58.” Seems they’re counting up, not down. What could it mean....
