Edit: Apologies for the double post, my connection bugged out

THE HYPE TRAIN OF COURSE
Just saw Nintendo and Microsoft crossplay announcement. Phil Spencer himself said that he would allow Banjo and Kazooie to be in Smash if that opportunity arose. Sakurai considered Banjo and Kazooie for Melee. Microsoft and Nintendo are partnering up for Crossplay.
G-guys. I think we might have an actual chance for the bear and bird to be in Smash.
I've never even played their games(I know there's something wrong with me, but you can't just expect me to buy an Xbox One or N64 to play them), but................ I think I'm a huge supporter of this now. I don't freaking care. I want them in as even as DLC. I'll pay the extra money.
C'MON NINTENDO DON'T PASS THIS UP. THIS HAS A CHANCE NOW.
P.s. Sony getting left in the ground because they are being too stubborn as always.

I find Steve unlikely. Maybe a Minecraft stage but, not Steve. He just isn't requested like Banjo & Kazooie. I'm certain fans practically bombarded Phil Spencer and Microsoft with requests to get Banjo & Kazooie in Smash Bros 4 during the Ballot then even more after the Smash Bros Switch Announcement. Some might have asked for Steve but, it wouldn't surprise me if more Xbox fans asked for Master Chief than Steve.

If Sakurai is going through the trouble of getting a single character from Microsoft then he knows that Banjo is the most requested.

As suggested earlier I'd be totally ok if Minecraft got represented in the form of a stage or assist trophy, like Bomberman did (rip)

Also, just how popular is Minecraft in Japan? I know Banjo has a following there based on a few polls, but I don't know about Steve.

Banjo-Kazooie is my most wanted third-party character that I want in Smash, with Rayman and Crash as close seconds. And seeing this new crossplay Minecraft trailer with Microsoft really got my hopes up for Banjo in Smash!

Y’all are making me so happy and hopeful right now. I am so blessed to know so many people want the bear and bird in Smash and haven’t forgotten them or how important they were to Nintendo fans. KEEP THE HOPE AND DREAMS ALIVE!

If Banjo and Kazooie make it in and get their own trailer, I'd love it if they were received by their old Rare buddies: DK, Diddy (and probably, K. Rool who's very likely to happen at this point)

and obviously with our favorite theme song in the background when they display their moves.

I had an interesting idea on how Microsoft could announce Banjo & Kazooie in Smash Bros Ultimate.

Imagine after the Smash Bros logo cuts through; the Xbox logo appears and the viewpoint jumps through that logo. The screen goes dark for a few seconds then the Halo theme kicks in and slowly builds up. You see the lower part of a Warthog driving around. Cut to Mario, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, & Yoshi battling it out as the Warthog approaches.

The Warthog skids in front of the 4 and stops. After a few seconds the silhouette of a Bear with a Bird in its' backpack leaps forward! It's Banjo & Kazooie! The duo look back at the Warthog where you can see Master Chief is sitting in the drivers seat. The 3 give each other the thumbs up as Master Chief drives away. Banjo & Kazooie stare down Mario & Co then leap into action!

*Cut to gameplay*

If Megaman got in despite Capcom not caring about him at the time, then I guess Banjo & Kazooie have a shot :)

Let em know, fellas!

Oh, boy. That Nintendo & Microsoft team up fills me with determination. If they are in Smash, I hope Banjo & Kazooie have their funny voice lines from the N64 games.

If Banjo and Kazooie aren't at least DLC for Ultimate after how chummy Nintendo and Microsoft have been lately, I'll be flabbergasted.

Part of me thinks they're hinting to it and/or a new collaborative game with this. Another part of me thinks it's just to show they're on good terms and advertise for Minecraft on Switch.

Considering the ballot and the past talks about being okay with B&K, I think I'm actually leaning towards the former and somebody should stop me from dreaming so big.

Considering we have characters like Cloud, Snake and Bayonetta in Smash, I don't think you are dreaming too big. For all purposes, Nintendo hardly competes with Microsoft nowadays, so the partnership between the two companies going as far as bringing Banjo & Kazooie to Smash isn't that bizarre. If anything, it could help both companies if Microsoft have any plans of making a new Banjo game.

Yeah, I see the logic in it too. Microsoft probably sees their popularity and that a new game would be profitable, and of course, since B&K are popular, it draws a lot of attention for Nintendo's game. I just can't believe we can say it's truly realistic now.

A safe approach. Better to not assume anything until and if it happens.

I know the feeling. Every time I see another tweet about how friendly they're being, I'm just like "But what if?" followed by "No, no, stop. I'm already banking on K. Rool and can't dare to hope even bigger than that."

The endless struggle of wanting something so bad and also trying to reinforce what you think are realistic expectations.

Banjo-Kazooie for the 64 was the first game I ever owned and first one I ever played - and still my favorite game of all time. I'm here for them.

And I agree. Nintendo and Microsoft have been so buddy-buddy lately. And now Banjo in Minecraft for Switch. I feel like they may really get in this time.

(And then maybe Banjo 4 in the future? But with no cars lol)

Preach, Diddy Kong Racing was my first game, in which Banjo was my favorite character. Then I find out he had a game of his own and immediately begged my parents for it, the series is very special to me.

I'm not going to put my money on Banjo and Kazooie being in the base roster, but DLC seems perfect for them.

Also an unpopular opinion, but I think Nuts & Bolts is a good game in its own right, while not really being a good Banjo game.

If Banjo-Kazooie make it in to Smash Ultimate, this really will be the ultimate Smash. I don’t think any other Smash Bros. will compare.

It has to be. All returning veterans w/ upgrades, all stages, improved mechanics, (hopefully) improved single-player and online, and on top of that, fanservice newcomers? Please sign me up!

I really only have two (kinda three, but I don't think Alm is very realistic) characters that I'd lose my mind over and immediately declare it the ultimate Smash right on the spot: Isaac and Banjo. I wouldn't need any other content.

The problem is my hunger for newcomers that will be awesome to me like those two is so strong that if I don't get one, I'll feel let down even if I'm not entitled to it. I just know that my heart won't consider it the ultimate Smash because there's a missing piece that would make it perfect.

If Ridley and the Inklings are the standard to be set for this iteration of newcomers, hopefully we’ll be in good hands!

Y'know? If you told be about 10 years ago that the matchup of Solid Snake, Cloud, Ridley, and Banjo Kazooie in Smash was in the realm of possibility... then I would've slapped you (While still sad and wishing for it in the depths of my mind)

Man, how far we've gone...

Take this with a grain of salt, but.
There was a problem fetching the tweet
If Microsoft sees the series as being potentially profitable merchandise wise due to nostalgia, something new with the Bear and Bird may not be too far off.

This story just keeps getting better! Perhaps it's a part of a bigger 20th anniversary merchandise collection, or it could tie into a re-release or new game.

Funny that it's the same price as an amiibo. If all we could see was that and the words, "Banjo Kazooie Collectible", I wouldn't be able to help but jump to conclusions.

So since 3rd party usually gets a stage and AT, what does everyone think BK would get if they got in?

I'm thinking Spiral Mountain, since it's a classic. Then maybe Mumbo as an AT. Maybe he can turn an opponent into a washing machine or something.

I just want this to be real just to have some sort of Banjo-Kazooie figure :O

I feel like Minecraft would be way better represented with a stage. It's the randomly generated voxel based world that is the star of Minecraft not Steve. (and maybe it's just me but I've always felt the creeper was way way more iconic than Steve. Whenever I think of Minecraft the Creeper is the first character I think of)

A Minecraft stage with actual Minecraft elements incorporated - the stage can be destroyed, maybe Creepers or Endermen show up - would be amazing!

But hypothetically, if Banjo-Kazooie make the cut, I don't see why we couldn't get something like Spiral Mountain and then also a Minecraft stage. Show both franchises some love.

Spiral Mountain is definitely the most likely and iconic stage but imo would be kind of boring on its own given all the world variety the games have, so I'm going to throw out some stage ideas.

-Witchyworld with a Mr. Patch boss
-Glittergulch Mine with minecart hazards
-Freezeezy Peak with eventual snowmen attacks
-Rusty Bucket Bay with the tnt crates.
-Showdown Town... cars I guess

Mumbo would make a perfect AT as long as he does his classic chant. Grunty would work as a good AT too.

Also how about making Jinjos an item. Like the Dragoon and the laser item from 4, you collect 5 of them and they could either summon the statue from Grunty's boss fight in Banjo-Kazooie for a powerful attack or give the collector a free point.

Lol the Jinjonator would be hilarious as an item! It would be a great nod to BK 1 too, and honestly not really sure what other items would make it in from the series.

I like all those stage ideas. Freezeezy Peak is probably the most iconic out of them.
Maybe Grunty's Lair could be the stage, but then it switches like Mushroom Kingdom U, going into different worlds: Treasure Trove, Clanker's Cavern, Freezeezy Peak, etc.
Also, Click Clock Woods with changing seasons, and other stuff - like the baby eagle in spring, adult eagle in winter - would be interesting.

I think the stage would probably be spiral mountain. Specifically the bridge part into grunty's lair.

But I'd love a travelling stage (perhaps on the magic carpets found in Gobi's Valley).

I agree. It might be a tad boring but Spiral Mountain is iconic.

And you’re right the bridge will def be the basis of the stage. Maybe Bottles can appear in his molehill as stage hazard. Or Grunty flying over the bridge on her broom.
Or both :)

I’ve said this before but Spiral Mountain has plenty of locations to be a traveling stage, and I’d be lying if I said I would not be disappointed to have another location as Banjo’s home stage. It’s the starting off point for his (and our) adventures! It’s where you learn the tricks of the trade by Bottles! It’s where your scenic home is! It’s where Gruntilda meets her end! Plus I feel like having the climax of the stage end up at Gruntilda’s final battle would be a perfect place for her as a stage hazard. It’s iconic, pure and simple, and would be ideal for Banjo-Kazooie’s welcome home to Nintendo in his own, untarnished from Banjo-Tooie or Nuts n’ Bolts, home.

Bonus points if there's some vegetables with googly eyes as stage hazards lol

How about final smash? Breegull Blaster? Wonderwing? Beak Bomb?

I had Beak Bomb pegged for a possible side special like Pikachu’s Skull Bash and Luigi’s Green Missile but does recoil damage to them like Charizard’s Flare Blitz. I personally would love if their Final Smash was Mumbo Jumbo and Humba Wumba appear and combine their magic to transform Banjo and Kazooie into Daddy T. Rex and rampage across the stage before it lets out an ear-splitting roar that does vibrational damage that sends opponents flying!
