Ok, I'm curious, now. What is the Duck Tank?

I was wondering whether or not I could tell the story. It's quite long so spoiler tags. For the people who don't play Pokemon I will link the Pokemon I used to their Bulbapedia page (well, the ones that don't have emotes here).

So... Duck Tank. I was playing against a friend in Pokemon X. My team consisted of Greninja(), Goodra, Porygon2(), Mega Gardevoir, Volcarona, and Magnezone. My battle actually started well. I got a KO turn 1. I retreat Greninja for Goodra when they send out Greninja. Goodra to Magnezone to Greninja when they send out Nidoqueen, which leads back to my Goodra coming back out after they use a move which forces a Pokemon switch. They retreat for Snorlax, which sends me head first into a brick wall that I can't break. I send out most all of my Pokemon to see if I could beat it. My Greninja does major damage to Snorlax, but gets KO'd.

After about 10+ turns, they retreat Snorlax, which allows me SOME reprieve, even though I had threee Pokemon left (Porygon 2, Magnezone and Goodra on 12 HP). I swap Goodra for Porygon2 against Nidoqueen and they retreat for Gallade. I retreat Porygon2 for Magnezone, which doesn't last long. Porygon2 comes back out, and they prepare for the final sweep by buffing their Attack. I capitalise on this opportunity by KOing it with Porygon2. Porygon2 versus Metagross. They get the first move off, which leaves the duck with 3 HP from 115. I Thunderbolt which gets the lucky paralysis. I anticipate the swap to heal Porygon2. They pull in Greninja. They Water Pulse, getting the lucky confuse, but I break through it and KO with Thunderbolt (some clutch Thunderbolts). I couldn't risk Porygon2 getting KO'd, so I swap in Goodra to remove the confusion. Goodra takes the KO, and Porygon2 comes back in. They send in Snorlax, and I KO with Thunderbolt (it's the MVP so far).

Final phase. They bring Nidoqueen back in and they get the first move, taking Porygon2 from 50 HP to 1. It sounds like something from a movie. Luckily I prepped a Recover before their attack (Nidoqueen was faster, hence the 1st attack).
I Ice Beam to finish off the queen. The final showdown. Porygon2 versus Metagross. Full paralysis kicks in 3 times in a row, which is CRAZY lucky. I reheal and finalize the game with 2 Thunderbolts, giving me the victory from the brink of defeat about 4 separate times. The fact that Porygon 2 was taken down to single digit HP TWICE to bring back the game earned it the nickname of Duck Tank.

Sorry about that, FalKoopa . I'd hoped that the Kirby trivia side of it would've been what was prominent, rather than the username backstory part. I mean, people so often seem to wonder about the naming scheme, which seems incoherent until you realise that Kirby's the one who broke it when they opted to name him after their lawyer from the DK case against Universal in the 1980s.

Anyway, Kirby-related stuff ahoy! There's some minor Kirby merchandise news today: The Apple design Kirby stackable mug is back in stock at AmiAmi. The A Walk design can currently be back-ordered, but it is not possible to order the Picnic design at this time (though this one is tagged with a "Back Order" symbol in AmiAmi's product listing, so it may yet become available again).

I also finally received my Kirby's Dream Land Picnic drawstring bag today, way behind Shadow Keebey (great Duck Tank story, by the way! ). Here are some photos, with my New 3DS present for scale;

I'm really impressed by the fact that the image is dyed into the fabric, especially considering the price (510 Yen, which is about £2.75).

I also found a neat unofficial Dedede decal (a Dededecal, I suppose? ), which I'm going to use to make up a custom New 3DS Cover Plate. Sadly no Bandana Waddle Dee in the same seller's "Super Wishlist Bros." decal line-up, or else I would've gotten him, too.

Brawl in the Family never caught my interest.

My Dedede Amiibo was always going to be Dededebot and have the monochrome colour scheme, from the second I decided to pre-order one from Japan. (And a fearsome Amiibo he is, too!)

Results were released, I got 8th place out of the 79 participants there! I'm pretty happy with my performance, I never thought I'd get into top 10 at my first local. Characters I ended up using during my rounds were , , and . The guy I beat first round (he was using ) even said my Bowser was "savage", even though I personally don't think that's close to true lol. Bummed I didn't get the chance to use or due to being faced with their bad MUs during my rounds, if I got further I probably would've used them but the past is the past.

I will say though, friendlies were the most fun part of it for me. After the tourney finished this one dude offered to do 1v1s with me, and so we did. I went with , , , , and . The guy I fought mained and , he used a couple times too. Good lord was he fantastic at playing the both of them. Most of the times it was narrowly or by a lucky read (like me doing a pivot fsmash with Doc when we are both at like 120ish%, doing dair into Rest with Jigglypuff once, inhaling and spitting him under the stage as Kirby after he lost his double jump with ZSS). We even played in Melee where he was and I played and the , did okayish there despite me only getting into Melee about a month ago but man was it fun. Melee's just an exciting game to play and the speed of it is just soooo good.

After we finished he complimented my Doc saying that I was "really aggressive" with him and thought "had huge potential" with the character. It really lifted my spirits and made me think I could possibly go further with Doc. Me beating his ZSS with Kirby also helped me regain my confidence in playing Kirby, which was mostly shaken in the past. Didn't do so hot with Meta Knight against his Diddy, so I gotta hit the training room in regards to that MU now lol. Unfortunately wasn't able to get a Project M setup, but maybe next tournament! They announced that they might do a Melee tournament in the future, so I suppose it's time to focus on that game for the time being!
