How long have you been supporting Bandana Dee, and what are some of your reasons for it?

For me, I always kinda wanted Bandana Dee in Smash ever since Return to Dream Land, but I think it was around when the Smash Ballot began when I started to want him more than ever. Bandana Dee was always my favorite character to play as in the multiplayer, and it was just disappointing to me that he wasn't included as a Smash fighter. It felt weird to me that he was the only RTDL playable character who wasn't in Smash at all. And then with Rainbow Curse, that's when I felt he was really becoming a main character in the Kirby series.

Also, there's the fact that he's a Waddle Dee. Waddle Dees are simply adorable. And that blue bandana just makes him even cuter in my opinion. :3

Since Return to Dream Land was released. I liked him in KSSU (he was so cute) and I was deelighted when I heard that he was going to be playable in KRtDL. I didn't originally want him as much as I do now, I wanted K. Rool, Mewtwo, Mega Man and Ridley more than him. But after Mega Man and Mewtwo were confirmed and Ridley was deconfirmed, he became my second most wanted character.

Seriously though, I supported Bandana Dee only because he's one of the very few characters that I know around all other people's request. And I have no reason against (fanbase for example), so there goes the top wanted Newcomer for meh. I'm not sure when I first supported, but there ya go.

Honestly, I have no other wants, but for the sake of providing an answer here, it'd have to be Adeleine, as I think she'd bring some interesting moves to the table that don't already exist in Smash.

It's come up before, so I'll keep my answer brief this time: I've been supporting him since earlier this year, and this thread is in large part responsible for that by filling in my knowledge-gaps from having missed a few Kirby games due to a lack of time. My reasons are that he's part of the main cast now, and he's Dedede's bodyguard (I imagine that they'd work well together in doubles matches, somehow), so he absolutely ought to be in Smash in order to complete the quartet there.

Anyway... It feels so weird to think that the Ballot's end is getting closer and closer... Not only that, but doesn't it end on October 3rd? (Or at least, that's the deadline for entries...) That's the same date that SSB4 3DS released. It's hard for me to believe that it's already been nearly a year.

Also, with the Ballot's end approaching, I can't help but feel this weird combination of emotions:

Excited, Hopeful, Nervous, and Worried.

I mean, I don't feel all four of these all at once...
What I mean is that sometimes I'll feel excited to find out the Ballot winner, and hopeful that it'll be Bandana Dee...
But other times I feel nervous about it, and worried that the winner will be a character that I find to be undesirable.

There's a very good way to counter this sort of worrying: Remember that even if they're undesirable to you, there's a whole lot of people who will be made happy by that character's inclusion. That's what this is really all about.

The ballot is drawing near it's end, and I just thought I'd drop in to share the thoughts/theories/ect. I've had regarding Bandanna Dee's potential inclusion.

First, regarding playstyle, I've thought a bit about his potential as a campy character, and the potential of new campy characters in general, and had a few ideas. As you recall, one thing I put emphasis on in a previous discussion is that a spear throw attack for a neutral special would end up being too much like Toon Link's variation of the Hero's Bow. That's always turned a lot of people off to my logic, because the common mind can't equate the spear, a melee weapon, to a bow, a strictly ranged weapon. Although similar in concept, as well as shape and the way they arch after thrown/shot, I've determined that his spear throwing mechanic doesn't need to be similar to a bow, but could have enough variation in the tiny details to give it a more unique function.

One such idea is for his neutral special to be a powerful arching spear throw, which would work like a spacing or zoning move. His other specials could be short-range projectiles as well, putting emphasis on his potential as a short range camper. On top of that, his spear could give him a good amount of slow, individually weak, but useful in punishment attacks that would allow him to take advantage of a campy playstyle in both his specials as well as standard and tilts. On top of that, he'll have a decent amount of arching projectiles, such as the small rapid fire canon thingy from RTDL, as well as his neutral special. This would allow him to deal easily with opponents attacking from the air.

Overall this gives him a unique play on some of Robin or Link's traits, to which he adds in his own flavor, notably the ability to deal with aerial opponents from a relatively short distance but from the ground. I'd say this would be a good way to pull Bandanna Dee balance-wise.

As for me, I almost sort-of bandwagoned my way here. I had always had a particular affinity for Bandanna Dee, even before I started wanting him in Smash, but it was this thread that made me realize that I did want him.

I don't know what brought me to Bandana Dee. I think it was when I just started playing Kirby games. When I play a new game series I try to find out as much info about that series as I can. I do that with Kirby and Pokemon and in the past I have done so with Mass Effect, Halo, Gears of War, (prepares for mocking) Call of Duty, Fallout and possibly Crackdown.

Ever since I played return to dreamland in multiplayer I've wanted him in. He's probably my most wanted for smash 4. I'm glad I found this thread about 2 months ago because I didn't originally though that he had a large amount of supporters, and now I actually have a bit of hope he'll get in.

What's the big deal? Ain't no shame in voting PM. I could see him getting in. He has the moveset/playstyle potential, the popularity, the relevance. The only reason I could see Sakurai turning him down is him deeming it unwise to add another Mario. Maybe my focus on balance is clouding my judgement, but I think he's somewhat likely.

Umm, why FE character? And well, good luck to you all with BDee in and such, although I don't expect ballot fighters until the day it ends when that could be one could be revealed proper. Just my opinion.
