Ive been edge guarding by running and jumping off the edge using timeing and B+Up to hit em and just port back up onto stage.
I use this, but i havent seen any videos with anyone useing it.
Do you think i should stop and learn something else?

well.. the point of edge guarding is to knock them away so they dont come back

if you're hitting them with an up b, you're popping them back up for a recovery

you could try sweetspotting the up b onto the ledge and give them a backair after they pop up though, not sure if this works, they might go too high.

Ya, that technique isn't so great. You should watch some kdj videos. He's the master. Almost too creative.
You should work on:
1- ledge hopped bairs
2- ledge hopped nairs (while facing the stage)
3- run off the stage fairs (be careful with this one)
4- and jump off, reverse needles, assess the situation...if you can get a bair then do so but usually this will make them land back on the stage and then you can get a free grab or dsmash.

Well imagine that. Sweetspotting isn't in Alphazealot's smash term compendium. So, Sweetspotting the edge is a term that basically means to put yourself so close to the edge that you automatically grab it and therefore go through invincibility frames. The frames are incredibly important.
So for instance, Marth is recovering from underneath the stage. To sweetspot the edge, the distance in height gained by Marth's jump (whichever jump you use including third) must be equal to the distance Marth is underneath the stage by.
If Marth is not that far underneath and uses his up-b, he will rise above the edge and then fall to it. This is what you are trying to avoid when sweetspotting.
Also, you do not need to put your character in true contact with the edge. If you are close "enough" to it the game will put you on the edge and give you the invincibility frames. This means that you can be just a little bit further from the stage and still recover. It also helps to make you do not get edge guarded sometimes.

So basically its timing your B+Up or whatever your using to reach the edge, so that you instantly grab it? As opposed to when you fall to it?
Whats an important reason for being invincible? Maybe so they cant just knock you back right away? And you have time to attack whilst your invincible?

Sorry if this is found somewhere else. Im the only one of my friends who actually try to learn stuff to imporve their game, as opposed to getting mad and throwing the controller.

with sheiks upb the easiest way to sweetspot is to teleport from slightly above the ledge down into it, or to just space it out from below.

also to edgeguard needles and bairs

That's totally right. Grabbing the edge instantly prevents you from being left open. Also I believe that the number of frames is set. That means that you can sweetspot the edge and immediately press back to fall of the edge, then jump onto the stage with an aerial move. And because you grabbed the edge, if done quickly enough you should be invincible as you jump onto the stage.
This is extremely useful with many characters, especially samus with her fair but including sheik as well.

u guys are obsessed with going off the stage arent u? lol. jk

u could jus edge guard with various forms of needles and tilts > fair

dont use upB for any reason except recovery

up+b is useless for edgeguarding.

use needles, fair, f-tilt, d-tilt, u-tilt (situational), d-smash, ledgehopped nair, ledgehopped bair, run-off nair, run-off bair, wavedash off b-air, and basically everything but up+b sheik can edgeguard like 2.7 million ways and the vast majority of it works by virtue of it being sheik.

hell even chain can work if you're screwing around. although everything is better than chain. so basically avoid up+b, chain, and probably f-smash. sheik's f-smash is pretty useless for edgeguarding too i guess.
