So yeah, tryin to polish up a few things before (hopefully not, but probably and sadly) my last melee tourney. :/

And i've been tryin to work out a few kinks i've noticed in my falco.

Once of which is getting out of grab range from a shine.

Now, i know SHd.air is an option (not FF), but i'm lookin to have wavedashing away as an option.

__

So my question

was backwards wavedash OoShine ever proven to be more effective and useful than just simply turning around? Or is it preference?

By turning around, what do you mean?
Hmm, not sure. I suck at Falco's waveshine, so I don't do it much. All I can tell you is wavedash out of the shine fast and as far as possible - that should give you enough space. You can either go away or go behind them. Another option to consider is to simply do a jc grab right out of the shine.

Sorry, that's all I got. Hopefully someone else more experienced can help you out.

turn around as in you shine, turn around in the shine, then wavedash forwards.

I know that turning around is much easier than wavedashing backwards OoShine because it requires less precision; but i cant remember if it's ever been found that it actually takes more time; and if so how long.

That's what im asking.

Shine turn takes 3 frames min, which is your advantage, jump takes 6 frames, which is where you get grabbed. Works if they're skurred to grab you. WD backwards is "faster" by 3 frames which of course makes a difference.

so, unless im reading too much into this.

What you basically just said is,

-I'm going to get grabbed regardless, but by wavedashing backwards, i have a slightly better chance of getting away?

just waveshine into them if they sheild a shine, and your behind them, if the second one doesnt hit them, they probably jumped. simple enough.

what i normally do is shorthop out, dair and DI away, the hitlag stops them from grabbing. if you shffl that dair you're set.

EDIT: Unless theyre marth, then you're just screwed in both scenarios.
