Autocanceling Snake's aerials

After playing a few rounds against Metaknight with ROB, my main, I realized that I should really pick someone to side. Snake’s always been someone I’ve been puttering around with (mostly because I love playing around with C4/Grenades), so I’ve decided to dedicate myself to learning him a bit better. Which brings me to the following issue.

Snake is a monster on the ground, but I have trouble dealing with any enemy that manages to knock me up into the air. Fair and Bair are both excellent at keeping people out of my airspace while I safely land, but I always end up getting re-launched if I try to use them against people who are on/near the ground. I keep hearing that they auto-cancel, but thus far I haven’t gotten it to work. So, tips?

Alternately, is there anything else I can do to someone waiting below me to re-launch? I know that Air-dodging is a possibility, but once the air dodge ends, I’m still in mid air (Stupid Lucas Usmash…), and open to punishment.

Help?

If I am afraid of getting punished for trying Snake's aerials...I fast fall, air dodge(multiple times if needed), hold down shield once I get near the ground, roll away or side step dodge. Oh yeah, and once safe, a grenade could help intimidate the enemy. Once you get good with this you will be able to get through a lot of situations.

For the auto-canceling part...you need to small jump just high enough (preferably at an angle) and do the aerial immediately after the jump. If you get it right, Snake will stand up instantly after doing the aerial. A lot of people don't expect this and you can just use your tilts after it.

You could try to plant a C4 as you're coming down and explode it before you land, or just hold a grenade in hand and airdodge the attack so your opponent his the grenade. If all else fails, DI and airdodge like a madman!

There isn't much you can do except what EnragedSnail said against stupid lucas ~~; His up smash is just broken . Deal with it and dont go airborn, that's my only advice, just stay away from em clouds.

You can also auto-cancel N-airs, by jumping twice quickly and fast falling after the third kick

Or you can cancel Nairs by doing it with a full jump.

Bring out a grenade while falling so at least when they hit you, you'll trade hits with each other. Or that c4 idea somebody brought up works.

You can semi-short hop nair (just a little bit higher than a short hop so the last kick can come out).

AA cancel > nair works for mixup.

Back air auto cancels from a full hop, maybe up air.

Snake's N-air can pretty much only done from a full hop, but you've got to be quick.
If the timing is similar to Ganondorf's Thunderstomp (sh dair lagcancel), the best I've gotten with a Snake n-air + full-hop was the completion of the combo. There's still lag at the end unless you do it out of a double jump.
