Wait are you saying that like when you L cancel on a CC pro, it can only hard press, so you can't tech for 20 frames if you get hit?
wow. that blows. a lot.
I honestly would rage so hard if I had to deal with things like untechable knockdowns.

Home.
Actually loved using light shielding in SSBM, I think I used it more than the heavy shield. Was pretty bummed to see it wasn't implemented in Project M. It certainly has its uses as covered on the last page.

Anytime you do a full press, you will tech within the next 20 frames, and are completely unable to tech for the next 40 frames. It does, in fact, blow. I know this because I play via Dolphin, with a controller without analog triggers. Fortunately I was able to set an unused trigger to a light press, as you mentioned in your previous post, but I'm not sure if it's possible to add new inputs to the Brawl controls menu. If it isn't possible, the CCPro gets shafted either in teching (if Grab isn't a light press) or in light shielding (no matter what.)

No disrespect to users of other controllers, but why would the possible inputs not be based on the capabilities a gamecube controller?

But the game is exclusively played on a gamecube controller at a competitive level, so I think it would make sense to use that as the standard for what control options are made possible.
Mostly, but not entirely. There are players who prefer the Classic Controller, and I've even heard of Wiichuck players. It's not wrong to make the GCC the standard, since it's the most popular, but it's extremely unprofessional to support multiple control schemes, but make one able to do things that some of the others aren't capable of. That's probably why light shielding was removed in the first place, and I agree with that design decision, as much as it sucks.

Having used the wiimote alone for the longest time, I think that allowing people who use the most polyvalent controller there is should be allowed to use it to its full potential. It's silly to bring down others just so they have the same options as you do with whatever controller you use. I'm for the return of light shielding, though a bit reluctant, being a Marth main. Not that the Marth killer is unavoidable anyway. Just recover from a bit further/higher.

My training partner's ken combos contain unhealthy levels of sodium. No second-hand salt intended.

(Probably my fault for being dumb and DI'ing incorrectly on the Fair's.)
