Are we done with Character Reveals?

With the game a month away from launching in Japan, that must mean that the 3DS Version is finished and they are taking this month ship out copies to retailers, correct? So does this mean that there will be no more newcomers since the roster is finalized? Maybe some veterans that didn't get talked about in trailers like how it was for SSBB will return but is that it?

Just to clarify, the roster was finalized two years ago. It has no bearing on newcomer reveals.

And Meta Knight kinda proved that we are still getting them. So yeah.

Veteran 1; Although it's 13 Days, September still has Room for a Veteran Announcement.
Veteran 2; Gets the Captain Falcon treatment in the General Direct this month.
Newcomer 1; General Direct this month.
Newcomer 2; Like what Lucina got, but only if we're lucky enough.

Pretty much this. I think we'll be getting a Veteran blowout in a upcoming direct, one more newcomer video some time soon (probably linked to a potentially Smash Direct) and a newcomer video on the day or just before the release of Sm4sh.

MK's reveal should give you the idea that there will be more characters to come. Just because we're a month away from the Japanese release of the 3DS version doesn't mean the end of character reveals.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. This is actually the first Smash game in which I've been keeping up with the new info, but from what I understand, we should be getting more newcomers that won't be revealed until after the release (Veterans as well)

I'm not sure if every character confirmed so far is definitely a starter. I can honestly see us getting just one more newcomer during a Direct, and then nothing else more until we have the game ourselves. We'll definitely have the starting roster by or before release date, and we'll get the full roster when the people who get it in Japan unlock everyone, or Sakurai reveals them.

Basically, the game comes out in exactly 31 days, so we'll have the starting roster before then, and I'd imagine it'd only be a few days tops when somebody leaks the full roster from playing the game.

It's a good idea to keep your expectations low, but Sakurai said we're nearing the bottom of the barrel for reveal trailers dude, there is at least a little bit left.

As I said this is all assuming sakurai wants to blow out reveals plus we got 3 characters (2 newcomers) in the robin trailer, so why not?

Just because Ganondorf wasn't revealed on either of those events doesn't mean that he will be cut. Yes, there have been many characters revealed on important dates but that isn't the rule for character inclusion.

I still think there will be character reveals prior to the Japanese release. We still have Wario, Lucas, and Ice Climbers who were starters to go through. Wario is coming back for sure, without a doubt. Ice Climbers may be held back due to 3DS technical limitations and Lucas...well...I won't get into that.

We will have about 4 weeks until the release so I think there's enough time.

I think the most likely thing we could probably conclude is that Ganondorf will most likely be an unlockable character again and most probably won't be revealed until the 3DS version's Japanese release at least. Not that he's been cut though....

(And yeah, I know that previously unlockables have been revealed before but asides of Marth and maybe the third parties I guess, we don't really know what their status are)

It wouldn't surprise me if Sakurai revealed most of the characters before release. After all, he doesn't like his information leaking out and Nintendo already did so with Mario Kart 8 (in fact, they revealed all the characters before release). That way, Sakurai is happy because he is the first one to give us the information and we have a fully official confirmation.

It would probably upset some people who don't want to know the full roster until the game is released, but there's no way we all can win.

I don't think ness and jigglypuff will be secret, sakurai said it when luigi was revealed that there's no point anymore, just like captain falcon I think they'll appear in the next 2 newcomer trailer (Shulk and Ridley)

Hear me out, Ganon is a iconic character to the Smash Bros Series. I'm not complaining that I WANT him to be cut, but master troll Sakurai says no clone characters yet adds back in Toon Link and adds newcomer Lucina. You all are right about other characters being comfirmed without a game release from their game, most recently MetaKnight, so maybe Ganondorf is a secret character, kind of like how Ness will be (I hope...)

Yeah, I hope Ness and Jiggs stay secret until release, so when future smash bros games come and one or more of the original 12 characters isn't revealed before the release date, people aren't freaking out, or less people are freaking out than would be if Ness and Jiggs were revealed before the game's release.
