Are there a lot of tournies in California?

I'm fairly new (to competitve, I've been playing since the game came out) and I keep reading that going to tournies is the best way to improve, so i was wondering how good the competitive scene is here. I live in Central California so I can easily get around as apposed to living on the far edge. I really want to get better and my friends aren't too good so they aren't good practice, better than computers I guess but I would still like to play in a lot more tournies if I could. Sorry if this isn't the right subforum or if there are a million other threads like mine, I know that can get frustrating. If it matters I main Marth. Kthnx

Cencal isn't as strong or active as Norcal or Socal, but still has minor hotspots here and there. You can probably find people who aren't too far from you in any case.
