Hyrule Warriors is a combination between Koei-Tecmo and Nintendo which offers Legend of Zelda in a different light. It technically is the style and game play of the famed Dynasty Warriors series but with a Legend of Zelda storyline, characters, world, and content. While this isn't the first time first party a 3rd party developer developed a Nintendo franchise (i.e. Star Fox Assault (Namco) and Super Mario RPG(Square)); it is unique because the essentially grafted the world of Legend of Zelda into a per-existing gaming formula instead of creating an entirely new one.

Then we have Pokken Tournament which is being developed by both Nintendo, the Pokemon Company, and Namco-Bandai. Much like Hyrule Warriors, it is the world of Pokemon grafted and molded into the formula of the acclaimed series Tekken. It utilizes everything Pokemon has to offer while staying true to the Tekken formula. All of the fighting styles, movements, etc are similar to Tekken.

Over, people may think this is similar to Capcom including Legend of Zelda content into Monster Hunter or Platinum including Legend of Zelda/Metroid content into Bayonetta 2. This is not the case as that is just additional content and acts more of a crossover. I would not call these games as crossovers as that suggests that characters and content from both series will be included in the final product. I am not really sure what to call this but technically it's "an integration of core game play elements from one franchise with story-based content from another franchise."

Crossovers are in huge demand and usually sees high success financially and satisfaction with fans. Marvel vs Capcom, Injustice, Super Smash Bros., Jump All Stars, Mario Kart, Kingdom Hearts, Sony Playstation All Stars Battle Royal, Dissidia, King of Fighters, Street Fighter x Mega Man, Street Fighter vs Tekken, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, and many more are a variety of examples that incorporate elements from various games and franchises into a single core game. However, this "integration" method would mean combining two series with one forming the basis of the core game play with the other providing the story-focused content. This is really an interesting and hopefully successful endeavor that can build company to company relations, and provide the developers with a new experience, provide players with en entire new world that may be unknown to them.

With that in mind, what franchises do you envision being integrated together? Which ones would be successful? In addition, what if Nintendo was to do that for other companies and franchises? How would that work for Nintendo's favor? And keep in mind this isn't a crossover but an integration.

In terms of Nintendo characters in an entirely new environment, I highly support "Metroid Hunter". The game would be a combination effort between Capcom and Nintendo with taking Monster Hunter elements with Metroid content. As customization and character creation is key in "Monster Hunter", this would be the case for Metroid Hunter as players can create various Galactic Federation and bounty hunter characters who can traverse the galaxy, hunting various creatures such as Metroids, Skree, Sheegoth, or even higher boss enemies such as Kraid, Ridley, Mother Brain, and Parasite Queen. And maybe at some point, the player will come into contact with Samus in her hunt for Metroids and can offer in some teaming-up events. Players can customize and upgrade weapons, armor, skills, and even their spaceship. I think it would be a pretty cool and interesting game overall.

Pokemon with Skyrim-style graphics and a world size to match?

I want it more then any other possible Nintendo game, even Smash 4, but Bethesda has stated they hate Nintendo's hardware. Not my fault they couldn't develop Home Alone NES to be a good game xP

No seriously, Bethesda actually made licensed shovelware...oddly enough it's less glitchy then any of their other games http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_Alone_(video_game)

Also I'm not sure why Game Informer considers a Pokemon game made by Bethesda to be a bad crossover idea, I've seen a huge following for the idea on twitter and I'm a follower myself.

Anyways as for whether or not it's the start, Nintendo does want to make better relations with 3rd parties, their key staff members are becoming too old to be the sole supporters of their consoles

An TES and Pokemon mash up
Would be interesting but some of those Pokemon designs would be horrific if don't in Skyrim style. In fact, all of the characters would be ugly lol. And this is coming from a TES fan. I suppose you could choose a character based on region and freely trave as you wish.

A Dragon Quest game with Pokemon mechanics would be interesting to say the least.

I want a Project X Zone type game with Smash roster pls.

Even paired units and supports/assists can stay!

Mario & Luigi
DK & Diddy
Pikachu & Charizard
Bowser & Bowser Jr.

The list goes on and on.

I've been thinking Game Freak would have really good game if they made an open world Pokemon (and finally gave us a break from the old, tired out, linear progression formula). Not necessarily a straight Skyrim crossover, but it be interesting to see how the mix of the locals and lore of TES mixed in with Pokemon's campy style would be represented in a project.

I've had some ideas for crossovers with Nintendo IPs, but most of them are with other Nintendo IPs.

Another thing some people have been clamoring for is an actual crossover with Mario and Sonic that doesn't involve them figure skating in the Olympics.

Super Smash Bros vs. Capcom. We even know that at least one (ex-)Capcom guy, Yoshinori Ono, is open to the idea.

...well, they should do it once Capcom gets their heads out of their asses and realize how damaging their business practices have been lately.

Bethesda are a bunch of techjunkies who leave modders to finish their unfinished games because they can't be bothered to add basic features like changing your character mid-game without paying 20$ for it. I'd love them to stay as far away from Nintendo as possible, Nintendo's about fun, innovation and polish.

I want a third-person Pokemon fighting game like fights are in the Anime. They now have the technology and I drafted out a plan for the controls on a GameCube controller 9 years ago, so now they just need to lock themselves in a room for two years and BOOM! 3rd person Pokemon fighting game.

A Metroid game with a multiplayer like Gears of War.
Maybe if the next consoles online could handle it.

I hope that this is only the start. Nintendo is finally making itself into a bigger competitor for Sony and Microsoft. The more they redesign their well established franchises, the more they establish themselves as an even more serious gaming company.

I feel like Nintendo has like contingency plan game ideas hidden in a vault, these games will only be developed when the company really needs a save. Lol.

If you need a name for these type of games, they're known as "collaborations" - two companies working together to get a single project out there.

In terms of what I want to see, a proper Mario and Sonic game, as well as an F-Zero game made by SEGA or Platinum Games, with a free roam element added.

If Pokken is successful I'm crossing my fingers for a Soul Calibur game with a Fire Emblem skin. The series is old enough that it could have a rather sizable roster and I don't imagine it would be too hard to adapt the different characters to SC game play. I would say that spell casters could be tricky but we've seen Namco get creative with characters like Viola and Zwei in SCV.

I'd also like to see this hypothetical game have a really cheesy name like Fire Calibur or Soul Emblem.

What about Pokemon: conquest?

Soul caliber?

Nintendo Crossovers aren't uncommon, well, at least in Japan. Good to see us filthy westerners are getting a share too though!

A Mario & Sonic crossover that isn't an Olympics game. It'll be a platformer with a mix of Mario gameplay & Sonic gameplay.

I also want to see a Pokemon & Digimon crossover happen.

Would it have 2D, 3D, or a mix? Also, would the player be able to drown and sink like Sonic or have infinite Ari and swim like Mario?

It'll have 2D gameplay. I can see it work better than 3D & I think it'll be more interesting to see the classic Mario & classic Sonic gameplay at the same time. As for the ability to drown & swim, Sonic should start swimming for once & have infinite air like Mario.

I think a Mario & Sonic platformer could work with these ideas of mine.

Grand Theft Zero - a combo between F-Zero and Grabd Theft Auto. Basically where the Captain can get out of his car and punch people.

I like Pokken Fighters and Hyruke Warriirs as they weren't using characters in two different series but, rather, adding content into another games formula.

I'm all in favor for an F-Zero game like this. The game could be two sub games with a basic racing campaign the series is known for but also implement "out-of-vehicle" game play. It would allow the player to actually see :4falcon: doing some bounty hunting.

I wouldn't mind a new F-Zero game where you got to walk around an open world as C. Falcon in story mode to reach different areas for different missions.

Of course, keep the core racing game play. Maybe bring back custom vehicles and hide parts and other collectibles around the open world to give the player an incentive to explore.

I think having a new F-Zero with an online mode would be wonderful, but with Nintendo's infamously bad netcode combined with 30 different people and F-Zero's speed could be disastrous.

Anyways, I want a Fire Emblem fighting game based off of Soul Calibur. I feel like the weapon-based combat of Soul Calibur and strong, deep plot of Fire Emblem games could go hand-in-hand. Although it is still unlikely, there is more of a possibility than there was a couple years ago because Namco Bandai has helped Nintendo on Sm4sh.

More like Nintendo VS Capcom. And they better not do foolishnesses like day 1 DLC that only lasts that day or BBA Megaman.

Depends on whatever style Capcom wants to put it in.

If they want to go with traditional Capcom style, it will be Nintendo VS Capcom.

If they want to go with Smash style, it will be Super Smash Bros. VS Capcom.

I wouldn't mind either way, though.

While you are correct that it is not 1998, Digemon's first episode came out in 1999. Furthermore, it didn't really get too popular until 2000-ish.
Don't spoil my fun haha. Also, Digimon*.

Seriously though, I do like how Nintendo's been branding itself out recently as seen in things like Bayonetta 2, Codename STEAM, and a couple of other games that allow costumes for several Mario characters. While not exactly crossover per se, it's neat and a lot of players appreciate it.

Considering Nintendo's relationships with third parties, I'd love to see a little more leeway for things like Project M, other hacks, and original content like that Pokemon Ultimate or whatever it was (which looked beautiful, by the way). More importantly, while their gimmicks are nice and quite innovative, it's not like every good game has to rely on, extend, or otherwise play to the gimmick in general. And we've seen games that don't really need the GamePad, like Bayonetta 2 (repeated reference, but that game is great and quite different for Nintendo).

DKC: Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8. Hell, I'd argue the console's best games make little to no use of the Game Pad.

I kinda feel like Nintendo could easily package a discounted version of the console with just a pro controller and slash the price hard.
