Anyone know how the Flying Men in Magicant work?

There's an obvious natural progression of characters, Falco, Dark Pit, Ness, G&W, Wario, etc. So it isn't that strange not seeing any of the new not-yet-seen characters, since they'll be at the very end of this unlocking-streak.

(Mild edit) Saying this because the leak clearly showed the game at one point in a playthrough, one which had not yet gotten every character, and it's the character-streak these streamers are leading up to, and will soon surpass.
