This thread is for the hyping of Apex 2012 and the Tacnian national tournament, taking place on January 7th and 14th, respectively.

Some things to note:

Apex 2012 is the second-largest NA SSB tourney of all time, and possibly the most stacked, with Isai, Boom, Kefit, Jaime, Sensei, Nintendude, and 9001 other fantastic players showing up. Can Isai's Mario-Link team prevail against Boom's top tiers and terrifyingly effective camping strategies?

Alancitu will be testing his skills against Tacna's best; his crew has been quick to hype him up following his controversial wins against Isai, but the community at large was far more impressed at the substantial number of wins Tacna's best player, Gerson, achieved. Alvin and Marca, Tacna's other leviathans, have also been quick to say that while they were not prepared for Isai's visit, they have been practicing for this tournament hard-****ing-core. Who will emerge victorious?

The Tacnian tourney will presumably use hyrule exclusively, and it will be a neutral at Apex. Will the matches be 12 minutes long again? Will Isai/Alvin/Marca/Alancitu have new ways to deal with the camping? What is the metagame truly like?

This thread is for making cocky assertions, dissing other peoples' regions, screaming about hype things, and generally getting your excitement on. Have a good time, and ignore Renth if he shows up.

I read this all in a 1960s batman narrator voice, it was quite amusing.

Neither Isai nor boom will get top 2 at apex. Upsets shall breed conflict. New hatreds shall arise.

pete has a man-crush on alan, cut him some slack

i was going to write a sonnet lamenting the lack of haikus and sonnets, but then it turned into a bad limerick and i stopped

I'd actually put cash on Alvin to take the whole thing

He sounded mad motivated on MSN

Not exactly a competitive mentality tho ("All he do is camp camp camp so cheap no skill") so we'll see.

Any amount of money that he won't.
I kind of want to take this to win my money back but I'm afraid of it becoming a vicious cycle and I'm not sure how good Alan is

Oh and you have less than a month left for the DK thing in case you forgot

i think you all underestimate alan's skill

even if it were 'controversial', beating isai is a spectacular feat

watching his videos from years ago, he is far beyond what most good players can do nowdays

I don't find his videos impressive, but I never find videos impressive other than Isai sometimes so yeah

I don't really get how people judge skill that way, I seem to suck at it

judging from isai's matches with the tacna peeps, plenty of vids i've seen with alancitu, and even all the awesome stuff from Tavo, I'd take Gerson to win the Tacna tourney, then Alvin.

What exactly did happen?
it's better if i let you humans fill in the blanks and assume stuff like you always do

ok this better be the last time i say this. he didn't want to record, so I didn't feel like playing at the time. I made sure I put myself in a position with about a 0% chance of winning. I would up tilt with Yoshi (wait what Yoshi isai? everyone is saying Alancitu beat you, so weren't you picking your great Kirby or something?) until his falcon could jump out; my goal wasn't to combo or kill to get the win, but to move my characters around apathetically and hopefully satisfy alancitu since he wanted to "play"

he said we would record 12 character battle and everything else after i came back from tacna, but after i came back, it never happened

i'm sure alancitu's "friends" in lima will tell it however they want to tell it

Real money pete? 'Cause I'll take that bet. And SK, I never forget, pretty much as soon as I get back to school I'll steal a camera from yearbook class and bully a freshman into recording for me. I was doing it with like 1/5 accuracy last night so shouldn't be a problem.

Personally, I think I have to favor Gerson, although Alvin's got a chance IMO.

No, **** it, Alvin all the way.

And BTW I was trying to be unbiased in the OP but Alan's wins against Isai do not even remotely count. Don't think Alan even said they did, it was one of his bros.

Also LOL @ "You Humans." I always knew...

i would but i dont have the slightest clue about how to transfer money. how about $50 if we ever meet irl? i'll be going to the states down the track for a big event

ahhh. well to be honest i never got the scoop on that so i just went off your quote without any actual background knowledge. its my fatal flaw as a mere mortal, i assume too much

$50 if we ever meet in person, it's a deal.

keep in mind I'm just betting on Alan not winning, alvin or gerson could win idk.

I wonder whether Tavo will show up and if he will win if he does
He will show up, he won't win. He has great combos, but gerson, alvin, and marca, who he's played with extensively, are all a solid tier above him by the popular estimation of tacna.

Pika player, got 3rd in the last tourney

like ten matches of him vs. Isai are on YT

He was in top tier with Alvin and Gerson in that tier list they made, personally I thought he looked a little bit worse than either of them, but Alvin seems to think of him as an equal

How could that be a thinly veiled brag? I spent a couple of minutes thinking about it and I'm seriously at a loss.

The only thing I could think of is that you were unaware I was including myself in "I never find videos impressive" (because I look terrible to myself), and that you thought I was saying I'm much better than all the people I watch, which I wasn't saying at all.

yup. every time someone posts a video you feel the need to come post about how videos don't impress you. strange.

we get it though - you don't like videos. it just sounds like you're saying people suck all the time.

lol i think i am just tilted by the abominations in the social thread today
