AOL Instant Messenger: a tad bit arrogant?

I was trying to register the screen name "katetof19" as I am sure it will be worth something in the future (When the Dark Tower series becomes more popular) and I noticed this little frame off to the side:

I'm sure it's been there before, but I was a little thrown off by this part in particular.

Improved social standing? I have been using AIM for roughly five years, and I am still the geekiest person at my school.

So I am asking this: Can anyone honestly say that AIM has improved their social standing? If not, I am going to write and email to AOL saying that they should take that particular bullet off of that list as it is untrue after testing a large sample pool.

(Yes, I'm bored)

Worth something? Do you plan on selling this?

I think I know why you haven't been experiencing a improved social standning like the rest of us AIM users.

GoldShadow, perhaps that would be more useful if it were better labeled so I could compare that chart to my own experience.

Chill, you're cold :( (hehe)

I think it's just bad technical writing trying to sound 'hip' and funny. The first 'freeebie' for signing up for AIM is... AIM. The other two sound like something middle-aged secretaries who download spyware vehicles all day would love.

No arrow on the negative Y axis means it's rock bottom! =D

ROFL...
sadly, it does increase social standing.
This coming from a guy who does 5000+ texts (and recieves more) monthly... About 1/3 of which are msg's sent to me from aim.

You need to have a moderate social standard before you start, maybe 50-150 friends, and then your friends list will grow exponentially!

Also, you will talk to people more, find parties faster, and get laid much easier :-P

XD I don't think AIM has affected me at all.. reason is: i'm not on very often XD.. mostly because i don't have many buddys on my list.. and the ones i DO have aren't very exciting on AIM..

idk.. maybe i'd be on more if i had interesting people to talk to..

a.k.a. add me ^.^

well if you don't wanna use AIM you could always use other like MSN, but I like my AIM just for chatting of course, I could care less about social standings

I don't like AIM because of the setup of the messager and such. I use MSN. I got all three, Yahoo, AIM, and MSN, but I don't talk on Yahoo. MSN is set up really nicely, you can use downloaded fonts, send files with ease, talk quick, not much lag, if any at all. AIM Is set up horribly in my opinion. I have to set me font in every window I open, I cant' have it the same at all times. You have to pay to use your own Icon, unlike MSN. Yahoo is just imbetween.

Ever since I got AIM, my social standing has gone through the roof. Here's a graph that depicts its effects:
Hahaha that's brilliant stuff. So I'm guessing that means nearly every teen has upped their social standing... or just canceled it all out? Haha

I also use version 5.9.6... I don't like the idea of tabbed IMs.
