I've come to the conclusion that I can't get google maps, fb, etc bc this comp doesn't have Java. I need to know a safe place to get it. The place I'm at has no protection but they want it and I'm scared to download it bc I get no recommended safe sites so I'd be clicking blind.

java script is not the same as java and you don't need to get it (unless your using some decrepit azz browser)

What internet browser are you using? Most likely, you accidentally disabled Java Script in your browser. If you're using Internet Explorer, I'd recommend you switch to Firefox or Google Chrome. The switch will most likely switch your problem.
