Anyone want entire Melee cast back? I know it likely won't happen

I want the entire Melee cast back like they did when they went from 64 to Melee. It won't happen since Sakurai stated that not everyone will return but I am still holding hope.

If I had to cut any of them, Roy and Pichu are the top prospects but I even want both of them to return.

I was wondering if anyone else is in my camp?

I think Doc is 50/50. Young Link will be back in Windwaker form with new moves. (whether he is called windwaker link or young link is irrelevant, still same character). I think Roy has a slight chance. Pichu probably has 0 chance. I am willing to let him go more then the others as well.

Sakurai likes Doc, no alt costume for Mario so far, Doc would have an awesome stage, Doc had same moves as Mario in Melee but was very different in that he was more of a heavier character, not quite as fast, and did more damage, not to mention the Pills. There are several reasons. Not to mention he has his own series that was extremely popular.

Not to mention, Dr. Mario could easily be changed to have a very different and unique moveset. Also not to mention he had a decent size fanbase from Melee.

That's quite optimistic of you. I think each of those characters has a less than 5% chance. But never rule a character out completely! Sakurai is CRAZY.(but also beautiful and I love him)

It's not that Doc is a terrible character (which he's not), it's that he's only an uninspired clone of the original person, Mario. It's the same person and everything, with the same moves. If anything, Dr. Mario will only be an alternate Costume for Mario. Pichu...no chance of returning, I say. He really was the most pathetic character in SSBM. He/She was the weakest, lightest character in the game, and also HURT himself when initiating most of his attacks. There's no hope for him.

Not so sure about Roy. Roy may have some potential, but he wouldn't really be necessary. Sakurai really only added him there just for representing purposes. He's got a 50/50 chance. And Young Link might return, but Cel Shaded.

That's really how I see it. Everyone else is gonna stay, with a few getting a reworked Moveset. (I.e Ganondorf, Falco, and Luigi)

I admit, Pichu is probably the character I care the less about returning and to me was just a weaker Pikachu. He was a little faster then Pikachu. Sometimes he was fun to play just for the challenge of playing him.

The ones I really want to return, changed moves or not: Falco, Luigi, CF, Ness, Marth, Mr. Game and Watch, Dr. Mario, Mewtwo, Jigglypuff.

Also the point of this thread was NOT THEIR CHANCES OF RETURNING but rather WHETHER YOU WANTED THEM ALL BACK OR NOT? No one has addressed the thread properly yet.

Ok, it was addressed to everyone. Just the people flaming saying Sakurai said not all of them will return... blah blah. I never said do you think they will return, I just asked if you wanted them to return. I agree with everything you said.

Since Dr. Mario never was in any of the Mario Canon games, he could be changed a lot to do Dr. Mario specific moves. IMO he should not even be considered Mario, maybe the third brother that went to Medical School instead of becoming a plumber. Every family seems to have that one super smart sibling.

Doesn't matter to me. Regardless of their in-game abilities, they remain redundant characters, alternate versions of existing ones, and therefore a waste of roster space. Thats why I want them gone, not because they were clones.

Call me a dork but I made a unique league where they schedule 1v1 one stock matches. I used AI v AI often, I would choose maybe one or two characters to "coach" as my team.

Conferences were Mushroom Kingdom : Mario, Luigi, DK, Doc, Yoshi, Peach, Bowser
Hyrule: Link, Ganon, Zelda, Y. Link, Marth, Roy, Ice (all but 5-6 seasons of Independent), Kirby (only for 3 seasons).
Space Conference: Fox, Falco, CF, Ness, Game and watch, Samus, Kirby (only for 8 seasons), Pikachu (last 8 seasons), Jigglypuff (last 8 seasons)
Pokemon Conference: all 4 pokemon went defunct due to lack of competitiveness
Independent: Kirby, Mewtwo, Pichu, at brief times Ice Climbers, Jigglypuff

Top 16 teams went to a single elimination tournament at the end (March Madness).

True, but that wasn't the point of the thread... point was whether you want all the characters back or not, not whether they will return or not. Actually the main point of the thread is I am bored at work with nothing to do lol. I use to in highschool make paper College football leagues and made a good paper high school soccer league. However, Melee was unique in that I made one for a video game and let the AI rather then dice or rankings decide who wins. I would pick characters here and there to coach. (Had to be Kirby a lot because computer stunk as him and he was a good program so had to keep him a float).

Computer always seem to rock with Falco and Ganon. However it is too easy to win the league most the time. I have it on level 9 and the computer still does dumb things and is easy to kill. Hope they made the comps hard on this one. I even had rivalry week at the end of the season for: Falco v. Fox, Mario v. Luigi, Ganon v. Fox, Marth v. Roy, and some others.

I could live with Doc as an Alt... Luigi has to be in Brawl, although lately he has dropped in popularity (No Luigi in Mario 64, Sunshine, still questionable for Galaxy).
