Ranting...

Characters: I was also slightly disappointed when it was revealed that ZSS was a result of the the final smash, but you should wait to pass judgment. Chances are that all the details of ZSS haven’t been revealed to us yet, and she’s probably more playable than you’re assuming.
You don’t care about Ike because you don’t like the gameplay of the Fire Emblem games? That’s a very odd comment to make. And how do you know that Marth will still be the best of the Fire Emblem characters when you haven’t even tried Ike yet.? If after you’ve tried him out, you still prefer Marth, then so be it, but you can hardly dismiss Ike like that at this point.

Game play: You cannot even begin to bash the game play aspects (combos, footstool, tether) until you’ve actually played the game and see how they function. I don’t see how you can call the footstool jump “100% useless” since it can be used as a meteor smash. You haven’t played Brawl yet, so you don’t know that it’s useless. I too am skeptical of holding down the button to perform combos, but we’ll just have to wait and see what it’s like. For all we know, there might be an option to turn it off anyway.

Names: I agree that it’s hard to come up with something cool with only 4 spaces, but keep in mind that it’s going to be floating over your character’s head the whole match, and it has to be readable without being to big.

Stickers: Ya…..they seem kinda stupid. I just hope they’re in addition to the trophies and not replacing them.

Music: They have an excellent team of composers writing excellent music. If you hate it, I suspect it’s because you’re just a whiner that likes to complain about everything, but I suppose I should respect the fact that you deserve your own personal opinion of the music.

Assist trophies: Not every character that everyone likes can be playable, maybe think of the assist trophies as a way of including characters that aren’t significant enough to be playable but still deserve to be included in some way.

Stages: Again, wait until you’ve actually played them before passing judgment. You’re not going to like every single one. There are many Melee stages I dislike, especially the infamous scrolling-up stages. But just wait until you’ve played the game.

Online play: Nothing’s been confirmed yet, I’m still really nervous that it may not be included, although I’m sure the developers realize not having it online would be a huge blunder.
As for the in-game chatting, I’ve never seen anything that says it won’t be happening. If such an article exists, could someone please point it out to me?

So anyway, yes we’re all developing first impressions and opinions which we’re all entitled to, but I believe you’ve passed judgment unfairly on several points where you don’t deserve to pass judgment without actually playing the game. And sometimes it seemed like you complained just for the sake of complaining.

I didn't say I wouldn't try Ike. I just said I wasn't interested. I was mainly going to state my opinions on all new comers, but I forgot about Wario. I never actually dismissed Ike. I never played the Fire Emblem games when Melee game out, but I still play as Marth. I hate the Earthbound games, but I still...used to play with Ness. I'm just saying I'm not interested in the character themselves. Never said I'll never play with them.

I've only bashed the Footstool. Never bashed the combo's or Tether. And AGAIN! Once and for ****** ALL! This is my opinion on what we've SEEN! Why is it so hard for anyone to get that straight into their heads?

At least you see my point here.

And here.

Again, your wrong about me. It is my opinion, but I consider it a flame to call some one a whiner for no reason.

You see my point here too (even though I never actually made a point for this, I still always thought this).

I could tell which Melee stages I would hate before I played them just because of their design (**** I was so wrong about Green Greens and Fountain of Dreams, both of which I assumed would be great, but for some reason, I have alot of trouble in both). Not saying I'm right here, again, this is just from what I've seen so far.

The only thing I've seen that proves Medal of Honer won't have online chatting, is on www.thewiire.com and I dount Nintendo will release a headset just for this game. But I do strongly believe online will be added. I just don't care much for it anymore (except maybe online tournaments in places like these boards).

Once again, your wrong about me. If the game comes out, and it turns out I was wrong, fine. So sue me. If it turns out I was right, it's a **** shame. But I don't tend to 'complain' unless I see good reason to complain.

I'm not loosing interest at all. In fact, certain updates are getting me even more stoked about the game (Adventure mode, Trainer, etc).

I think that combining Samus and Zamus is a good idea. They are the same person after all, and this means that you are FORCED to play as the other one. You even mentioned before how Shiek overshadowed Zelda, this prevents that. We also don't know the full story behind how she will play yet. Maybe a Smash Orb with Zamus turns her back into Samus and you can start off with the other.

Seems Sakurai is making sure that something like the Zelda/Shiek thing won't happen again, because like the Trainer, you need to be able to use all aspects of the characters effectively.

From my experience with Nintendo Power, they are usually wrong about a lot of things. This being more than a decade ago, so for all I know, they could be better. But I've heard people say they aren't any better, and aren't very reliable.
Better than the UK official mag, then. The update pics are all low res and resized. I look at IGN more than I buy that.

Look at some of the Japanese stuff (there were exlusive pics a while back in CoroCoro, I think) for proper information.

Woah Im Not Reading All That

Lets list our Pros and Cons from what we know. Mine first. And this is mostly opinion (although I'm sure some people agree with some cons).

Okay, I still fully intend to get this game, I just won't like it as much as Melee. Melee had one thing, and one thing only that disappointed me (two things, but I didn't realise the second one until a month later). It had no Meta Knight. But it had Mewtwo, which made up for it (secondly, Zelda sucks compared to Sheik, even the COM seemed to know this, as it choose to mostly always play as Sheik).

This game, having Meta Knight comfirmed from the start, as well as adding Snake and Pit to the mix, made me want this game, bad. A year later, the dojo opens up, and...lots of good and bad comes from it.

One thing that I need to get out of the way, because it's Nintendo's fault, and not the game. The lack of online chat sucks. You won't be able to chat with your friends online while you bash them around, or ask your team mate to help set the enemy up for a Meteor Smash or anything. Anyway, Nintendo's fault, not Brawl.

Okay, now where should we start? Characters I guess. My personal pros and cons of certain characters.

Pros: Meta Knight, Snake, and Pit

Cons: Zero Suit Samus, Peach, Red, and lack of Deoxys.

Ike, I could care less for, as I hate the gameplay of the Fire Emblem games. And, from that series, no one can top Marth to me.

Pros: Meta Knight is my top favorite character in the Nintendo universe. Followed by Mewtwo. Meta Knight needed to be here since Melee, so it's about **** time. Snake, I honestly believe with the humor of his games, he fits in here. I love Snake, and his games anyway. As for Pit, I hate Pit. Captain N made me hate Pit. I never played the game until after Pit was confirmed, and as it turns out...I hate the game to. Why is Pit a Pro then? He looks so **** awesome.

I'll have to list the Cons seperately.

Peach: One word. Toad. The new picks kinda prove to me that Toad was left out again. Nintendo has sort of screwed him every since they turned him into an

entire race. What happened to the Mario Bros 2 Toad, Wario Woods Toad, Mario Kart Toad that we all used to love? On the other hand, Peaches dress looks amazing. I just hope they fix her voice. She's had the more terrible voice since Mario Sunshine. Her and Bowser for that matter. Give us back Bowser's Melee roars.

Red: Now I admit, I wanted this to happen (mainly in the form of May or Dawn, just two cute girls), but not like this. I wanted the character to do the direct fighting, and use Pokemon as B moves. This just...arg. I guess I COULD say this at least makes Charizard playable. No I can't, considering we are forced to switch away from Charizard often.

Deoxys: Deoxys I could care less about. I prefer Lucario. My cousin complains ALOT about the lack of Deoxys though, so in my opinion, alot of you must agree with this.

Zero Suit Samus: I'm sure we can all agree that we got screwed here. We thought we'd have a fully playable character, and we get screwed. It's obvious Smash Balls will be rare, so we will rarely get to Transform into her. And when we die, I'm sure we turn back into Normal Samus. Only way I can see ZZS being playable, if we have nothing but Smash Balls turned on, and set to Very High. And even then, the computer, or other players will abuse their Final Smashes. On top of that, many of us like playing without items to be more, as some call it, 'Professional' (not my word, but it works). This means ZZS will never be playable.

Now, lets move onto How to Play.

Standard Combo's: The ability to simply hold down the button for combo's gives me mixed reactions. Great for me because I can do it easier now...bad for me because so can they...

Footstool Jump: This one I find 100% useless and annoying.

Tether Recovery: Why did they show us Zero Suit Samus doing this? She's not playable or anything >.>

Game Modes now.

Names: Okay this is bad, very, very bad. Why? Because they still only allow four letters for a name. What the hell should I call myself, Shar? Sark? Names in Melee, and Brawl, are just stupid unless they allow up to 6 or more letters for names. At least 5. Many people can come up with more 5 letter names than four...

Stickers: This...seems boreing to me. Otherwise I guess it's okay if it only appears in a certain mode. I'd hate to be destracted by it and chaseing after it every time. This will be much worse if these replace trophies.

Lets skip items and Stages for now and skip to music.

So far, I hate most of what we've been given. I so far only like Battlefeid fully, a part of Ridley's theme, and just the Saria's Song in Zelda's music. The Kid Icarus music is okay. I hate all the rest.

While I do not play with Items, I like most of what we have so far. I always hated Creates and Barrels, so thats not new to me.

Assist Trophies: I was pissed when I first saw Samurai Goroh's name, but thats only because I first, I assumed he was being named as a playable character, and I did not want him. After this, I was careful with jumping to conclusions, and pretty much feared seeing names of characters I actually like being turned into this.

Otherwise I love the idea of Assist Trophies.

And finally, stages.

Honestly, I mostly love all confirmed stages so far but a few.

Bridge of Eldin: Judgeing from the Zelda music we've heard, and the layout of the stage, I have a strong feeling I'll hate this level.

Rumble Falls: Ice Climber scrolling levels like these, I hate them straight to hell. And honestly, out of ALL the settings from the Donkey Kong Country series, don't you think they could finally use something besides a tired old jungle? Gangplank Gallion? Crocodile Isle? Anything? Same for Yoshi Story for that matter...I'm sick of that **** level.

Skyworld: I hate this for the soul reason that all platforms are destructible, leaving us little to nothing to stand on.

Castle Siege: The top part looks great, the middle part looks boring, and why the hell is the bottom part such a secret? Is it worse than the middle part? And since your forced from the top part earlier...unless you somehow return to the top part and rotate between the three parts, I won't like this level much at all.

Smashville: I don't hate this level yet, and it looks amazing, but so far, it looks too flat and small, with only one smaller flat platform. I don't think I'll have fun with this level.

Okay, thats my rant that I spent an hour on. What are yours? What do you believe will be your major pros and cons?

EDIT: Wow. I copied and pasted this from a wordpad, so it looks kinda screwed up. I'll fix it in a second.

Looks like a wall of whine to me.

But to respect your opinion, I agree with some of them. Thought some of your viewpoints may be wrong, I have nothing to use against you to make me right either.

All I can really say is.. We have to wait an see, which is a boring statement.

I didn't read the whole thread, only your first post, so i apologise if anything i say was already said.

Don't take this as me flaming you in any way, either. I do think you're complaining an awful lot considering the fact that there's a good few months before the game comes out.

A lot of the things you're saying are your own personal dislikes of what you've seen before (in know that's what the thread is for) but to me it just seems like you're getting pissed off because things haven't gone exactly your way.

I mean, almost the entirety of your post is "i hate this because". No offense, but i don't think anyone cares. I personally couldn't care less about what you don't like, and why you're losing interest, but i care even less when you list frankly ridiculous reasons.

I think you need to stop *****ing and just wait for the game.

Should you really be posting at all if you haven't even read anything in this thread, not to mention use all caps?

Are you sure you read the first post? This whole thread isn't about just my likes and dislikes (obviously you haven't read the first post, considering you claim I haven't listed anything I liked). The thread is supposed to be everyone's likes and dislikes. Instead mostly everyone else turns it into a 'Bash the Topic Creator for his dislikes only' thread. Only a few people actually followed the theme of the thread, granted they almost turned it into an Online Discussion thread, which is something we don't know about.

I didn't say that you said you hated everything, that's why i say in my post "almost the entirety of your post".

And i said i didn't read the whole thread. That's why i was just commenting on your post alone. I know this thread is for people to say what they dislike, but honestly, you are complaining SO much, i had to comment on it.

I counted up stuff that you said, you're completely happy for four things (mentioned in your post, not the entire game), and most of the stages. But then you go onto say how you dislike 15 things about the game. Granted, that's not an awful lot in terms of an entire game, but i still think that it's a lot of complaining about a game we honestly don't know that much about.

It just seems to me that you're there going "and i don't like this and this and this and this." The only response i can think of is: "Yeah... and?"

Interestingly, the point of my post was that people should get the whole picture before passing final judgment on something. So I find it rather ironic that people are so quick to pass judgment on Shark without even fully reading his initial post or even trying to understand where he's coming from. I'd like to point out that, despite me referring to as a "whiner" for a couple of his opinions, he did actually make several valid points based on our first impressions of the game. And while I feel that some of his complaints were unwarranted, it's counter productive to completely dismiss him just because he complained, especially if you're typing in all-caps.

In your first post, this is your first gripe about Brawl when you initially compare it to Melee, which had no online capability at all. While having no voice chat may be something to gripe about, it certainly doesn't fit within the context of your thread. Nevertheless to contribute to your thread, part of my enjoyment of playing Melee as it is now is with a group of friends, and I'm not looking forward to playing online at all. I stopped playing CS back when I stopped LANing... things just seem less fun online... but hey, my own experience. :)

If you hate certain characters, then don't use them... hell, even beat them up? Worrying about having characters you don't like in the game seems more pointless than worrying about new characters that you want in.

My opinion, but generally the way you play pokemon is the trainer stands back, and cycles through a handful of pokemon to battle others. This similarity for Brawl I believe is brilliant, and I (as most other people do I'm sure) am suprised that you look past the unique player character this is just because you only like 1 of the 3 pokemon. :S

Shark X said:
Deoxys: Deoxys I could care less about. I prefer Lucario. My cousin complains ALOT about the lack of Deoxys though, so in my opinion, alot of you must agree with this.
'So in my opinion, a lot of you must agree with this.' I thought this thread was about sharing opinions? Not about your beliefs on them.

People are worried, but there is no proof yet of what you say, as everyone above has said.

Pressing and holding seems pointless to comment on, repetitively mashing a button is not hard to master.

Shark X said:
Footstool Jump: This one I find 100% useless and annoying.
Do you know what a spike is? A meteor? Hell, it might even be useful in teamplay if it keeps them stunned even a moment.

Use ShaX. Or Shar. Honestly who cares. The ability to read the titles on screen is more important than complete names.

I too, am guessing that they will be pointless. My girlfriend might like to mess around with them though. Why care about it if it doesn't affect you?

One of your cons is that you read the dojo update wrong. I mean really.

Good reasoning, that strong feeling of yours.

For once I actually agree with you, more diverse DKC levels would be a treat. Yoshi's Island levels do make decent simple levels though.

Shark X said:
Skyworld: I hate this for the soul reason that all platforms are destructible, leaving us little to nothing to stand on.
I'm guessing that bits of the stage will respawn as other parts of the level fall to pieces. Who knows really. You are reading into things too early where there is not enough information, as in many cases above.

Shark X said:
Okay, thats my rant that I spent an hour on. What are yours? What do you believe will be your major pros and cons?
A rant it surely was, at very least it is a list of concerns, at most it really is just venting. You really are reading into things and making stuff out to suck before you know the full story. If I were you I'd leave smashboards until release date and try it out first before deciding whether you are so bitterly disappointed by it.

Now for the reason I first looked at this thread. My interest is also waning, as I'm tired of eagerly checking a thread each day and being treated to tiny little teasing morsels of nothing while all we can do is speculate endlessly about how things will fit in with what we learn. Consider the new link moves update. Great... they are better... but without knowing much else about the game it doesn't give us much to think about does it? I'd probably just be best to take my own advice and forget about the game until release so I don't go out of my mind. :p
