I'm not entirely sure why I feel like doing this, but I think it would kinda be neat to discuss what we do with the fruitiest of our loops. Anybody?

Oh hell yes! I've been an on and off FL user for a few years. Great program. I have to say I prefer it to Reason and Cubase, having tried both, but shouldn't this topic really just be a music production topic? More room for discussion.

What kind of music do you make? Favourite VSTis?

I'm actually a seasoned Microsoft Direct Music Producer user, and I'm just getting into FL. It's a lot different, and I'm honestly having trouble understanding it.

I don't know enough about it yet to be creative and actually create original music.

It's pretty obvious that it's a really powerful program, and I can't wait to be capable of using it to its capacity. Would you mind posting what basics I need to know before I can start actually making music? I've changed .."steps per beat?" and uh.. made a techno beat or two, as well as a few rock beats, but I really haven't been able to come up with multiple synthed sounds that sound well together.

Another issue- I've seen some tutorial videos online, and everyone uses some really nifty soundfonts. I looked soundfonts up, and it looks like the good ones are **** expensive. Any ideas?

Fruity Loops is pretty basic in my taste.

I've been trying out Fruity loops for a while, and it's good for what it is. However, it is a bit too linear and not as flexible as I want it to be.

I use Acid Pro to sample/create/arrange my beats. Soundforge goes hand and hand with Acid Pro.

Protools is top tier though. It's very advanced though.

Fruity Loops has a very easy setup, and if you know how to EQ things correctly, and know how to adjust volume with each kick/snare/hats/etc, its a pretty **** good program.

I used to use it back when it was still called fruity loops. Its a pretty good program and seems to have gotten a lot better since when I used it. Currently though I use Cubase and reason.

Acid and FL are two quite different programs, I feel. People who record music would probably be better off with Acid, but if you want to make a song primarily from your computer FL would be the better choice to me, with VST support and what I feel is a more effective way of sequencing.

Interestingly enough, Guy Who Feels FL is Inflexible, I switched from Reason and Cubase to FL because I found it to be more flexible. I guess it depends on your tastes.

Image Line would be a lot better off scrapping the ****ty samples that come with FL, and the synths like WASP and that which are useless and naff. It would give the product a more classy feel, really, as being associated with the name 'Fruity Loops' and coming with ****ty samples puts up a terrible front image, when really I think it's a very capeable squencer.

I haven't made much recently of merit. I have some old music somewhere on Acidplanet that I could post, but it's not really very good. I'll hunt it down later.

Protools and Logic seem to kick major amounts of *** though. My uncle uses both and he does music for commercials and ****.

Hmm... I used FL Studio when it was Fruity Loops, probably five years ago. My friend had a pirated copy that he was using. I got pretty good at it.

I don't have the money to buy it, so instead, I'm currently downloading ACID Pro XPRESS.

The only music sequencing software I've really used recently was Rosegarden, but I've been having technical difficulties with that one.

how much did the tools included in acid pro run you?

i have some extremely expensive recording equipment that i think would do better in a program less based upon synthesizing. acid pro sounds good.

I use FL Studio but I'd really like to get my hands on Reason or Logic. I've never actually completed any project I've started 100% but they all sound pretty damn slick. Some guy from the forums gave me this vsti called rgz zeta+ I believe. It's nice.

www.supergreenx.com uses reason.

Is there any good site besides ripway and anything dumb that requires confusing downloading processes that can store music? >_>
