Another Letter To The PMBR

So, I am, as everyone else is, hyped for Roy's return, and everything else that will come with the next major update.
The game will be more balanced in the next update, there will be new characters, stages, a mode or two, or whatever other sweet stuff we all are waiting to hear about.

This is all wonderful, but a new update changes the game. Good changes, but still changes, and the only ones who get to work with these changes before they're released is the PMBR.

What I'm asking for is that either, one, the next version not be released until after APEX or two, the PMBR not be allowed to play as they would have an unfair advantage.

I don't plan on going myself, and I'm only asking for the good of the community, I just want to watch a more fair fight than what I saw at the biggest P:M tourney I've been to to date. It was Low Tier City, and the top four were all PMBR members, and watching that go down was an odd, somewhat disappointing feeling, especially since 2.6 had just came out less than two weeks before if I remember correctly.

This is just a personal, exaggeration of an opinion I'm only using to make a point, but after LTC I started to joke that it looked like Strong Bad, Fly Amanita, and Reflex were all using a create a character system like in Soul Caliber, and would just bring that made up character to tourneys.

I just want as fair of a fight as possible at APEX, and I want to thank the PMBR on their great work.
We only whine because we love what y'all do. Love the new logo, too.

Edit:
I know it's common to think that this is our responsibility in the PMBR, but this is actually something that Tournament Operator's need to be handling.

We just focus on making the best version possible and try to ship it out as soon as the final work starts coming together organically -- I wish there was a way that we could predict release dates 4+ months in advance but it doesn't work that way.

If there isn't enough time before Tournament X to practice up on the new release the TO needs to firmly announce that they're sticking with the previous release for that tourney, and we'll do our part to make sure that previous version is still publicly available for download.
Fair enough, I agree entirely. I addressed this to the wrong group for the most part, I'm sorry.

But with that viewpoint, maybe out of respect to the average competitor, it should at least be more considered than it has been for PMBR members to maybe not participate?
I don't want to tell anyone how to live their life, but I think if I had some kind of exclusive advantage I'd at least keep that in consideration.
But that's just my opinion...

Thanks for understanding and clearing some stuff up!

????
solution: release the day after APEX, use the tournament to hype up the next version (possibly show one last character on stage, idk)

..Why not release when they're finished and, should it come around Apex time, just use 2.6b for Apex tourneys?

That would work too, but then the weeks before APEX the real competitors wouldn't get to even play with the new one much. Its hard to juggle different versions of P:M, ask any PMBR member. That's still a bit unfair, but could work.

Let them release anytime they want.

The PMBR would do it like they did last time a tourny when 2.6 was released. They let players ask questions regarding changes to any characters. Its not like they are trying to steal peoples' money.

Actually... At LTC there wasn't even a change list yet.
Even if there was, frame data and stuff isn't how you play the game and learn characters (unless you're M2K), it takes practice and time and experience, something only the PMBR members had.
I agree, they're not deliberately stealing money or wins, but it is still is an unfair fight, and I don't think anyone wants that.

not using the latest version of the game saps motivation from a lot of players to play in the tournament(you guys are playing 2.6? but 3.0 came out a week ago!). releasing close to tournament date creates a sticky situation where some group is going to get screwed, which is why its probably better for everyone if its just delayed or expedited slightly. I know catering to tournament hosts is not the pmbr's number one priority, but i feel like releasing the game so close to a major tournament hurts the competitive scene more than releasing it a week or two late hurts the non tournament goers, since tournament players have actual money/results at stake

If i remember correctly EVO banned Zod from Injustice due to his release window being so close to EVO. Why not do the same with any new characters and still play the current release? I can't see any more characters having nearly the drastic change Sonic had last patch.

Any change someone's used to, but someone else isn't, is an advantage someone has over someone else. The little things are the easiest to exploit, no change is too small to be thrown aside as "Oh, it's fine, no one will even know the difference"
Someone will, and that someone can use it, thus unfairness.
