Annoying, but still always existing things in video games.

One thing I also can't stand are "Guide Games"

Zelda 1 being a great example.
2nd Quest is the only part of Zelda 1 you really need a guide for. Most players today are going to want one for AoL though.

You can blame Tower of Druaga for introducing mandatory super-cryptic secrets to Japanese ARPGs.

I usually don't mind this. In most cases, I'm able to heal up before it gets really annoying.

Usually.

BUT THEN THERE'S POKÉMON GEN 5, WHERE THEY DECIDED TO MAKE AN ENTIRE SONG OUT OF IT. AND IT SEEMS THAT THE TIMES WHERE I'M LOW ON HEALTH THE MOST ARE DURING THE ELITE FOUR, THE FINAL N BATTLE, AND THE GHETSIS BATTLE, A.K.A. THE PARTS WITH SOME OF THE BEST MUSIC IN THE SERIES. IT GETS REALLY ANNOYING HAVING THE AMAZING MUSIC INTERRUPTED WITH THAT GARBAGE EVERY TIME MY POKÉMON'S HEALTH GETS KNOCKED DOWN BELOW 25 PERCENT (WHICH HAPPENS A LOT BECAUSE I DON'T TRAIN MANY REALLY DEFENSIVE POKÉMON) AND I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE VOLUME BECAUSE OTHERWISE I'M GOING TO GET A HEADACHE.

WHAT
WERE
THEY
THINKING?

reinforcements for the enemy
I think it adds a bit of realism to the game. Sure, if the enemy summons powerful foes every turn, that's ridiculous, but some enemies dropping by every few turns is fair, imo.

What annoys me is that the princess has to rely on some fat mustache plumber to come and save her from browser. Like come on she's a very independent person and i'm pretty sure peach can kick some Bowser booty if she could. Look at what she could do at the Olympic games. Plus why does Bowser need a princess anyways? Don't he have this monster to be yell at:

I mean i can understand why he would kidnapped a princess? That dinosaur looks like she doesn't give what Bowser the satisfactions he needs so he goes and steals a princess. This happens in real life too...

Ok final conclusion: Peach don't need no man, especially when their incomes come from bricks...

And that's what i hate about mario

Miltank used Milk Drink........
This brought to my mind: in XY, the same bush that has Miltanks, has Chatots. They have chatter, a move with accuracy of 100% and it ALWAYS confuses. That is by no means enjoyable. Not in the slightest. And to apply this to many other games in general, I hate moves that are hard to dodge and have annoying consequences.

I ****ing hate RNG and tutorials. A few months ago I would tell you I am pretty neutral on RNG (and I have spent a lot of time trying to get competitively viable shiny pokemon in the 6th gen games), but ever since I played Dragon Ball Xenoverse; my spirit was broken for a long time. I don't hate all tutorials, but I hate tutorials that are just boring AF and it is even worse when you already know how to play the game, tutorials that take forever to end, tutorials that teach you like you have never played a game before (though honestly i understand why, since any game can be someone's first game ever), and tutorials that pop up even when you are like halfway through the game.

Sounds like FF VII and VIII. Certain enemies in random encounters can either wipe out your entire team in one shot, or cause so many ailments (confusion, berserk, blind, sleep, slow and petrify all at the same time, possibly others) with one move that you can't do anything to the enemy and your life is slowly ticking away. ...Or they smack you with a ridiculously powerful move to finish you off afterwards. OR some bosses spam the same powerful (not quite powerful enough to end you but enough to weaken you) move twice in a row just as the battle starts and you don't even get a chance to make a move.

Do all FF games have these WTF moments?

Most I imagine. One the one hand they need to make their cough and cold resistance + 15 socks worth getting, but on the other if it's basically required then you'll have to cross half a continent and an ocean to clean out that closet you missed.

The more modern RPGs I've played (Xenoblades and Bravely Default basically) balanced this by balancing the status effects (so no random dooms or party wipes) and equipment. Xenoblade wasn't too big on negative statuses and most equipment has positive and negative element resistances, and BD practically gave you one of every status immunity trinket there was and there was a equipment slot devoted to them. Don't remember getting wiped by anything that wasn't way out of my league.

ESCORT QUESTS.

When will devs realize that being dragged down by a slow, defenseless NPC with brain-dead AI is not fun?
The Rocko's Modern Life licensed game uses that mechanic. I don't even know how to get past the first level. It's a shame, because Rocko is one of my favorite cartoons.

I usually never play the "pay to play" games. With most of them, you won't get far unless you use money. They are all just mindless time wasters anyway.

Timed Missions/Levels/etc

Okay, so these aren't normally too bad depending on the game you may be playing. Some of them are often rather easy in fact; however, there are some cases where it'll want you to do 10 things in such a short amount of time you have to make sure where everything is, practically avoid any and all enemies, and make sure there are absolutely zero screw ups or enjoy doing it again a 27th time.

I get it. There has to be some difficulty. We got to have a challenge or else they'd be boring right? It doesn't make it less annoying though...

Protect X Missions

Whether it's an NPC, something super important, or a base sometimes these can be super insanely tedious. Especially when it's impossible to be at two places at once and you have to protect more than one thing. One of the most notorious examples from a game I recently played would be Hyrule Warriors "Protect the Allied Keeps!" Missions. If anyone else played it, then you know true frustration.

Tricking you into hearing the explanation again

This isn't that common in games, but boy when it shows up... I guess this can be blamed on the player by pushing the A button way too fast but we can agree that at some point you just want the torture to end as quick as poss-opps, time to hear the whole again...

I'm getting Security Hall PTSD just from thinking about it.
FIFTEEN MINUTES? I CAN DO IT IN FIVE.

Forced online, for me. I found the FOBs in Metal Gear Solid V to be really annoying, and it doesn't help it's mandatory. There's also the fact most of your funds were transferred to Konami's servers.
