Animation Cancel the DSmash?

It looks like DSmash's lag is way less than normal, hence MikeHAZE dodges M2K's grab.

Did something else happen there or is it actually possible to animation cancel the DSmash?

There's a slight knockback if your dsmash gets shielded. If you're standing really close to the edge and it gets shielded, you'll move slightly backwards. Getting pushed off the stage = canceling whatever you're doing.

It's not viable.

useful to know though, since it makes otherwise unsafe attacks somewhat safer. also since you can use the same mechanic to push somone off the stage if they shield an attack.
