Remember this:

1. Nook is only seen in one screenshot of the stage.
2. Said screenshot is not in game play.

Unlike Nook, K.K. is an integral part of the stage.
It's not during gameplay? So what! It's still the stage!

You have to realize that the characters are looking at K.K. Slider, which makes it suspicious. Nook is just simply in the background... There's no attention brought to him whatsoever.

I'm not so sure of this myself, but have their been any pictures of the stage with K.K. Slider on it that the characters are fighting?

If an Animal Crossing representative actually turns out to be a normal Animal Crosser, I'll be perfectly fine with that. I guess you can assume that the Animal Crosser can offer a lot of variety and mobility.

Interesting source, though. I googled about this and the article is spreading around the intertubes fairly quickly in the Smash Community. I hope we can get confirmation on this Famitsu interview soon. D:

Um...Did anyone realize this "article" is the EXACT same post POSTED yesterday in this same forum by someone who did not post a link?

That thread was closed after no link was provided...The Bell Tree seems to visit Smashboards and likes to copy even the title of the thread..."practically confirmed" for example...

Assuming this is true it seems like they didn't plan on having a character. It evolved from an item, to a stage, and finally to a character. The first screen shot ( the only one with Nook) may have been an early screen shot, before they decided to add a character. Nook may have been removed if they made him a character.

Seeing that all screens are subject to change, that's quite possible.

That's highly doubtful since the roster would have been completed long before Smashville was shown.

I don't even see why Nook has so much support anyway. Having him, and not the main character, would be like having ...Tingle without Link. He is confirmed to appear in the background, which would seem to heavily imply he is not going to be playable. I still believe that if AC were to get any representative, it would be a human.

This man makes a good point. All in all, though, the AC character, even though lacking personality, would overall be better suited for Brawl. Tom Nook can be in the sequel, but for now just one AC representative, being the main character, needs to be in.

No kidding, genius. Did you even bother reading my post, or do you just like to come one here and say stupid things?

Or like having Pikachu without Pokemon Trainer.

I disagree. I think Nook plays a more important role than the actual main character. He has personality and an actual back story. The character that you play is basically you, so it's always different.

I hope people here know better than to readily believe this... That Gamefaqs topic is where it all started, I was there when it began. The TC there made up a bunch of excuses regarding getting the source URL from his History folder and such. And the bad thing is that now its really spreading to credible places...

It looks like it might be the whole Ridley/Cel Link/Bowser Jr. rumor all over again...

Although, Pikachu is the established mascot of Pokemon. I don't think the same could be said for Tom Nook. Then again, Pokemon is known for the Pokemon, not the Pokemon Trainer... Animal Crossing is known for the Animals, not the Animal... Crosser.

Actually, the bell tree update seems to have been posted before that person posted that thread. He must have gotten it from the bell tree website and forgot to link it.

I think that there would be an Animal Crossing character, but if it were to be a human it wouldn't be the wild world version, since he's the backround also. Also seeing how they're using the newer versions of charaters (i.e. Link and Mario), chances are it wouldn't be the GC version either. I think if there was a human AC character, it would have to come from the unrealesed wii version, and seeing how the Brawl production started way before AC3 that would be unlikely. So with no human, maybe Nook? Deconfirmed, screenshots of the Dojo appear to have him as part of the stage. Same for Totokeke. But there is descrite evidence towards a possible AC PC. I draw this from the fact that the AC universe has its own symbol, the leaf. If you look at the pitfall and Smashville there is a leaf symbol from AC. If you were to look at a passage from another game with no possible chance of having a PC represenative, such as "Devil", it has the Smash Bros. symbol. So it seems to me that if there wasn't an Animal Crossing Playable Character, then the pitfall and Smashville would have had the Smash Bros. symbol also. So if a human, Nook, and KK Slider have been semi-disconfirmed, then who's iconic enough from the AC universe to be a possible PC? I'm thinking Resetti or Kapp'n. Can I get smoeone else's opinions on this theory of mine.

It's short because the rest of the interview apparently had nothing to do with Smash Bros. Brawl, just Animal Forest, and if that's the case, why is the rest of the interview not up on the site? Plus,. I've been on Famistu and I can't find anything on it, I went to the latest info for the upcoming issues and he wasn't the one being interviewed (At least as far as I could tell).

But regardless, an Animal Crossing character is inevitably going to be in this game. And I'm sorry but you are a FOOL if you don't see it. WHY oh WHY would they add a Nintendo franchise JUST for a stage, struggle to find different music themes for it (My music and the fact that a lot of animal crossing themes will be hard to implement in Brawl), and not have a character for it? That's insanity.

Personally, I think Sakurai should stop playing games and get the character update up. We've already been through this with Yoshi, and it's sad, people HONESTLY thought there was a possibility Yoshi was not going to be in Brawl, but have a stage. It's idiotic things like that that make me want the release date to get here now! So I don't have to put up with this garbage, and I can talk Brawl on the forums WITHOUT anymore foolish suggestion, without anymore rumors...

Okay, I will say this one more time. Tom Nook is deconfirmed for anybody with any common sense. Why, pray tell, would they bother programming something into the background of the stage that they would have to take out when a certain character in on the stage? Don't say that they could have made Nook a character after they had the update. They obviously had the roster completed before they started even updating the site. People are not thinking this through and it's making me angry.

He's in the background of the pictures on the Japanese site in the Resetti update, too, so he wasn't made a character and probably won't be since we only have about two months left 'til the game is released. I honestly think Sakurai would worry more about fixing any bugs and tweaking it all together than making a character completely out of nowhere in that timespan.

I believe I found scans with the interview...

I'll try and contact SamuraiPanda to ask him if the scans mention anything about Smash Bros.
