Hope I'm not posting this in the wrong place, I saw other speculation here, this seemed to be a huge Smash board, and I wanted to try and be the first to show this finding in the Sticker Powerup update. Hope I don't botch things up on my first post, or get beaten to the punch...

Okay, maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, but hear me out.

In this image, we see a sticker's got four things in it's description, the sticker name(and game name), the amount of stickers, the stat boost, and a blank one.
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/modea/images/modea12/modea12_080118e-l.jpg
In this shot, we have sticker name and game name, count, stat boost, AND character restrictions. From what we can gather in the update, the Kirby cell phone can only be used by those Kirby franchise characters. What's this got to do with the Animal Crossing franchise?
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/modea/images/modea12/modea12_080118b-l.jpg
The Katrina sticker. It has the name, number, boost, and... something in the fourth area! What's in the fourth (unseparated) area in the sticker placement area?

The character restrictions.

Thus, it might be a longshot, but it could be assumed that it might be a similar display, saying something akin to "USE ON: *character head icon*"... if the Kirby phone is associated with the Kirby franchise, what would Katrina, from the Animal Crossing franchise, represent? One might say "The phone might represent the characters from Amazing Mirror", but Dedede was not in the game, yet is still covered by it's effects! Thus, it could be possible to assume...

Katrina is only usable on a character of the Animal Crossing franchise. Of course, a sticker can't be used on a stage, it can't be used on an item, it can't be used on a song, so all this leads to the Animal Crossing franchise being a full blown one. Item, stage, music, character.

That's a pretty good theory there.

But, as PsychoIncarnate said, the Animal Crosser isn't proficient in magic (as far as we know), unless B moves are covered by "magic" as well.

Also, if you look at the Cell Phone picture:

The character icons are to the right of the effect, with no divider.

But, in the Katrina picture:

There's a divider AND what looks to be part of a U. There's nothing like that in the Cell Phone picture, it's just the icons to the right.

But then again, the Katrina picture is from the sticker book, while the Cell Phone one is on the stand itself.

I think you're on to something, but it doesn't necessarily confirm an AC character. If it does indeed say "Use on", it might be used on magic-using characters like Zelda or Lucas.

Giving some thought to the post WarxePB made(and some general thought after the post), maybe it is possible Katrina isn't like the cell phone, and simply powers up magic users... or perhaps she only powers up those who use psychic "magic", working only on Lucas and the like... she was a psychic right? It's hard to tell when we have only one sticker that restricts characters, and one that is presumably restricting characters.

That's a really good point! His magic could be to throw turnips? Maybe bells? Either that or golden axes >=)

Actually, it looks like the Joshua Stycker. So if you're right, it deconfirms an AC rep instead of confirming it, still, pretty good find.

Looking at the Japanese version of the Brawl site the U or whatever it is, changed to these symbols which I am unable to describe.

In any other language, it's the same except for the Japanese version.

Maybe this is a short hint?

no, no, no.

The little head icons are who can and can't use the sticker. If you can't see the head icons, you can't make this assumption.

well the thing is you can't see the place the heads would be in the particular screenshot..

as for why the border thing looks different, the cell phone has already been sticked to a character, while katrina is still in the scrapbook.. of course, maybe it doesn't show the character heads in the scrapbook, since previous screenshots did not have them...

oh wait previous screenshots did not even have the powerups! see below:

The AC Franchise has the Pitfall item in Brawl

As for which character could be in it:

"Animal Crossing Guy"

That's his name, no arguments. Not Sakurai, not Iwata, not Miyamoto, not Animal Crosser, not Brawler.

Animal Crossing Guy ;)

I don't think Nook has much of a chance anymore... too much evidence against him :/ (i.e. Trophies + AC Stage)

This is no way confirms the AC guy, he's just not gonna make it folks. Besides if he was playable they would have at least smoothed out the jagged lines on his sticker

I think that just the fact that Animal Crossing has its own stage, items, music, and assist trophy already pretty much confirms an Animal Crossing character. They haven't given that much representation to any other game that doesn't have a playable character. It just seems like too much attention to be paying to a series if they didn't even feel it was worthy of having a playable character.

I think that they'd call him Villager. Smasher is another possibility, since they called the stage Smashville.

It's also interesting to note that that's the only sticker zoomed in like that...

Maybe the U means something like "Unlock Character to Use"?

Who knows, he may be our "create a player" option. XD

Everyone's been hoping for one, and while I think it's very unlikely, who knows? The most Nintendo create-a-character option EVAR. And Animal Crossing Guy is WAY cooler than Miis :p

Miis cannot use axes, they're too worried about getting Friend Codes from strangers.

Then why even speculate? They could have shown an enemy from Balloon Fighter there and you could just speculate that they're hiding Balloon Fighter's head. There's no way this can come close to confirming anyone because you can't see the place where the head is, even then, the heads might not appear until the specific character is unlocked anyway. Besides, it's obvious that most stickers will be able to cross to characters from other franchises. And the screen shot just looks zoomed in to focus on that character, not to hide anything, as you'll remember, Sakurai has been known to take things out of the screen so we can't see it yet. (think wifi modes)

And the previous screen shots probably don't have the power up info listed because you're not viewing it from Subspace Emissary mode.

I dunno if it confirms an AC character specifically (though I'd love to see one)...but he's hiding something. That's the only picture zoomed in like that in this update, after all.

That's the way the AC Villagers are. They are 'jagged'. Also, these stickers are all pieces of official art from previous games. So these stickers are the same as they are in booklets, boxart, etc.

This is a pretty good find, I think. But what could that 'U' mean?!?! :lick:

Man, I registered to post the exact same thing, but you beat me to it x_x :lick:

Even though I don't really care about an Animal Crossing rep for Brawl, this IS something to consider. Either that or Sakurai didn't want to deconfirm the Animal Crosser, if you understand what I'm trying to say.

It looks to me like the kanji for "SEN", which carries a meaning somewhat like "entirely" or "exclusively". What it says after that, though, is anyone's guess.

Yeah, I agree with you. I looked up the Kanji that we can partially see on the Katrina sticker in the Japanese screenshot, and all of it's uses seem to be in things like "arbitrary" and "special use" and "exclusivly" and basically words that suggest full into. Perhaps this does suggest that this sticker is a character exclusive. And since it's an AC sticker, wouldn't it make sense to be exclusive to an AC fighter? By the way, I think this is the Kanji: 専

I do not think this means an AC character will be confirmed from this because the AC character does not have magical abilities... at least not in previous installments.

However, I would like to run with the idea of how this sticker affects magic users. The known magic users are as follows....

Zelda, Lucas.

Ok, that's not much, but what if magic also included elemental attacks? Then we have...

Mario (fire), Pit (light), Pokemon Trainer (each Pokemon's abilities), Pikachu (electricity), Ice Climbers (water, ice), and maybe Bowser (fire) with his breath, but I do not know if that really counts.

So just running with this theory (I do not know if it is correct) this could mean two things...

1. Magic is a feature of SSE that needs to be introduced and explained since not all characters can use magic. Thus, that is why the characters that can use this item are being hidden.

2. Hidden characters could potentially include secret characters. Characters that have not been announced that are POTENTIAL magic users are....

Issac, Ganondorf, Luigi, Geno... etc, you get my point.

I realize how much of a stretch this theory really is, and I do not fully believe it myself; however, it would explain why that part of the picture is being covered.

And who knows, they have been developing AC Wii for quite a while now, perhaps there will be something new to the AC Universe...

Mr.G&W? Pikmin and Olimar? Ice Climbers?

Are you following me here? Almost any Nintendo character can make it into Brawl, even if they do come from a serene game.

Maybe it means that the sticker can only be used once on a trophy like "Use only once."?

I find it strange that the part that usually shows characters that can use the sticker has been cut off and yet in every other picture you get the full picture while with karina you get a zoomed in picture that conveintly cuts off the characters that can use it.

I agree with Urser too, any nintendo character can make it in regardless of what they're like in thier original games, that's what makes the smash series so great.

Smash is a representation of all things nintendo so a playable ac character is not unlikly just because they're peaceful.
