Anyway, not sure if anyone will find this useful to any degree but eh, I figured I'd post it anyway.

Both Ganondorf and Pit have something called a SlideStep. As it's not very pronounced with Ganondorf I'm not entirely sure it's well-known among the Ganondorf players I'll describe both.

SlideStepping is holding the shield button in after preforming a SideStep. This causes Ganondorf to lurch forward ever so slightly. For Pit this is a great method of spacing. For Ganondorf on the other hand it's hardly noticeable. At the moment they are the only two that I'm aware of that can do this.

By applying a variation of Pivot Dash Canceling to SlideStepping you get what I found, the Angelic Step. Sorry it sounds a tad oxymoronic for Ganondorf. ^_^"

Anyway, hold back on the joystick during your SideStep. Then as you come out push forward. This will cause Ganondorf to slide forward while Pivoting. Unfortunately it's very slow with Ganondorf and might not be applicable. In this video you can see Pit preforming it, just for visual clarification. In the video I refer to it as a Super SlideStep. It's the last technique displayed.

If this has been discovered, I'm sorry for bringing it back up. If nobody finds any use for this with Ganondorf, again I'm sorry for bringing it up. ^_^

How far does Ganon slide? If he slides as far as Pit does, this could be pretty useful.

Can we give it a different name, though? Angelic Stepping is great for Pit and all, but for Ganon... Yeah. (An obvious new choice would be Demonic Stepping)

Slide stepping happens after a sidestep if you: Don't do anything, hold down, hold shield.

Ganon's regular slidestep isn't very far forward, barely noticeable. His super slidestep does go forward one times his own length.

One last note, if you sidestep very rapidly, you'll begin to move backwards.

I'unno, Demonic Stepping has a nice contrast with Angelic Stepping.

And he does just about as far. However Ganondorf looks like a dork doing it. It's kinda slow and lunky as you might suspect Ganondorf would look doing something like this. Plus it works very well with Pit because his F-tilt is a kill move, but it's slow for the range it has. Ganondorf could give a Sparta kick at the end of this, but I'm thinking mixing it up with one of his Specials might make for a decent mindgame. I'unno, I don't main the man. ^_^

Jabs would be handier since that's his fastest move (save for the murder quake), and it could work as a good out of shield option. If you get pushed away because you shielded the attack, you slide out of your shield and do a jab or perhaps like you said, a good ftilt.

So basically, it's spot dodge, hold back, smash forward?

Just want to make sure I have the idea right before I go try it tonight.

And for that pivot cancel, what's the right input and application of that?

Pretty much the same except it's much more difficult due to the precision needed. When doing it without the help of Ganondorf and Pit's SlideStep attributes it requires a lot more touch and is difficult to preform in fast paced situations.

Okay, I am sorry, but after reading this I am completely confused. Could you go over it all one more time? I mean how to do both a slidestep and a pivot cancel. The directions have me confused as to which way to press the stick in addition to what way you are sliding.

And as for getting something like this out in a heated moment. I thought Snake's nade-drop to mortar slide to aerial explosion would be hard, but I got it down pretty quickly. I am sure that once everyone gets it down a lil', it will be quite easy.

It is indeed an interesting find...but I can't see how it would be very useful in a battle...possibly for mind games?

With Pit it is amazing. But I personally would stick with Fox trotting with GDorf instead of stepping.

Probably for the best. However I figured I'd at least share the discovery with you guys. ^_^
And we thank you for it. He looks like he is dancing. But still, I am sure that something useful will be paired with this. Maybe using it as spacing for a murder choke.
