I think that the spring in question was from a Mario game. I remember seeing the exact same spring in a game (which I can't, frustratingly, remember at this point) and thinking to myself "Oh, that's where the spring in the Brawl demo came from." I really can't remember but I'm sure it was a Mario game. I think it was Super Mario 64.

I personally think that the Clock item should have been a Chaos Emerald. Just get rid of the effect of the Clock that randomly backfires, and it is pretty much Chaos Control.
