An interesting "new challenger"-like idea for Brawl using WiiConnect24

What if you and a friend, at home, were playing together and one of your online friends came in/interrupted the game. You could turn this option on or off by going to the rules and turning WiiConnect24 on or off. Your friend would connect to nintendo wifi, and see that you have a game going on and just join. No special movie though.... his character generates on the platform and gets to fighting. Kind of like arcade fighting games like tekken, but quicker and online. Since the Wii is always online I don't think this feature would be difficult to put in, although problems like lag when your friend generates could happen but I'd be willing to overlook that.

Yeah they would generate on there little platform thingy out of nowhere in the middle of the match .. its never been done before so it does seem kinda awkward
...is there something wrong with that?

Wow.... I did not think about that.. maybe you could have some kind of setting on how many lives he is granted like the amount of lives= to contender with lowest amount of lives lives' and some other stuff like reset options or something...but thats stretching it.. and nintendo rarely takes that extra step because they want to keep it simple, but who knows.

I think it may be the total stocks of trhe remaining characters in the game / 2 rounded down.

It's a awesome idea, this can be a surprise in the battle =)

It would have to be a special game mode though like Last Man Standing and people can come and goes as they please or something to that affect.

This would be awesome! Starting a match against some bots and then my friend replaces one of the bots. Awesome.

actually, i dont think it matters how many stock someone would have when they joined, i believe its already been stated that theres not going to be a ranking system, so it doesnt really matter if you lose...especially if someone starts with more stock than you.
they could have a sort of invite system similar to halo2 (and possibly other online games), where you can make it where only people you have invited to join your match can actually come. that way you wont get stupid people joining that you dont want.

Thats a great idea too! Not alot of games allow you AND your friends online to play at the same time so I was saying WiiConnect24 seems great for that kind of things. They could do alot with this

Sorry for double post but you know nintendo has that friend code thing so only people you know can join that kind of thing or else its just a random game so that shouldn't really be a problem.

Interesting idea. But it would be annoying if you and a friend beat each other well into the 300's in a 1-stock match, than another friend appeared at 0% damage and KO'd both of you...

This idea sounds pretty cool, but I don't think Nintendo will put it and about the stock matches maybe you could select options to decide the amount of stocks that newcomers get like:Same amount of stocks as the character with least stocks(and vice versa),same # of stocks as when you began,only 1 stock etc.

If the newcomer's character did come out of no where it would be cool if you could here some guy say "New Challenger!" or maybe the words could flash in the screen.

yeah, thats the type of thing i was talking about...dont just randomly throw in another opponent, that would just be cheap (and annoying!). there has to be some way you can control wether or not a specific person on your list can join in the middle of a match.
