well, my Pit amiibo has arrived, which means it's time to actually do some serious training, but I don't have a single clue where to begin with that. Any advice would be helpful, but until I've figured out what to do, planning to use him for farming purposes like the other 4. But once I get an idea of how to train him properly, going to train him for real

Hope they patch out the damage scaling on amiibos so we can use them for more than side tournaments...

Start off my teaching it jabs, tilts, and smashes, when it does them, shield, when it shields, grab.

How long should I do that for, what level range? And when do I switch things up, what do I change it to, and for how long

I was skeptical of amiibos at first, but as soon as I heard you could teach them to taunt after kills, I was hooked.

So I bought my first amiibo from the slim selection at Walmart, a Link. I got home and immediately started playing with him. I named him Ephen, a play on my own name.

I only did 1v1, 3 stock, Final Destination. Link v Link.

I kept a tight regimen, making sure to keep my distance and throw boomerangs followed by arrows to disrupt Ephen from afar. It didn't take long for Ephen to adopt this strategy. He had it down perfectly. But I had set him up to fail. I would continuously ride the boomerang back to him and absolutely punish him, but he learned to avoid it. It didn't take long for him to beat me and I couldn't beat him with any of my other characters. He refused to taunt after kills for whatever reason :(

Then comes day 2. A different story. Desperate for more amiibos, I bought a DK from Meijer (I refused to go to Walmart 2 nights in a row just to get amiibos) and I had big plans for him.
I named him Grape because he was green (green ape, grape... get it? You get it.) and I had the sole purpose of making sure this one taunted after each kill. I failed with Ephen, but I would truly be Grape's muse. No CPU involvement whatsoever.

But I also wanted a DK that played like Ike, so I only used Ike to train him. This DK is derpy. But he taunts after each kill! This was at lvl 38. Since he was a good level, I decided to put him up against Ephen so that maybe he could teach Ephen how to taunt after each kill, because that would be so cool!

Match 1: Final Destination, 4 stock, no items

Ephen effortless 4 stocks him

Match 2:
Grape gets a kill! But wait, where is the taunt? No taunt?! I trained you for hours only to taunt! He just 4 stocked you, and you don't taunt?!? I'll straighten you out!

I fight Grape, I wreck him, I taunt to the moon and back. He finally kills me. No taunt. More kills. No taunt.

Now I feel like every time he doesn't taunt me, he actually is taunting me in a way. It's like he's saying "Remember when you taught me how to taunt after each kill, lol me neither. You suck so bad, you're not worth learning from." As he stands still and looks off into space (literally, we're playing on Final Destination.)

It is so frustrating but I freaking love seeing the progress of amiibos and seeing my own tactics in their fights and I hope you guys get some of your own!

tl;dr I love amiibos, they hate me, and my Zelda amiibo is ordered.

I decided to test the theory that fighting 2 on 1 Kirbys against Kirby amiibo would make him super buff. Unfortunately, I had 2 people over, so I felt obligated to make it 3 on 1. Also, the other two people weren't that great with Kirby, and one was especially bad.

I'm right back where I started. My Kirby amiibo now knows how to dodge like the wind, but every opportunity he's given, he will roll in close, jump up, and then just nudge you with his body when he has a clear opening for an attack. It's like all he wants to do is hug you.

I got some more amiibos coming for Christmas, including Fox, Yoshi, and Link. I think I'll give Kirby one more shot at retraining before throwing in the towel and moving on.

I haven't been able to get into training my Amiibos really precisely yet, but my Captain Falcon did actually teach me a combo I was not aware of, and I've been trying to master it - jab, slightly delayed second jab, and then Up B into his opponent. He does this to me quite often and it's very effective. Even if you shield the jabs, he has you baited for the Up B, which can launch you quite far.

The Amiibos I have for myself are Yoshi, Captain Falcon, Pit, Wii Fit Trainer, Marth, and Villager. Marth and Villager I just picked up, so they are fresh right now (though I will probably start training them to Level 50 later today).

I still haven't gotten into precise amiibo training either, been waiting until such a time that I have all the custom moves, mii headgear and everything else sorted out. Then I start with Pit, but still not 100% sure how to start the training off

If you are looking for a great way to train your Amiibos to be killers, I'd recommend doing the following:

Levels 1 - 10
Have them mirror match a lvl 9 CPU to get fundamentals.

Levels 10-20
Mirror match them and go to town, doing everything that you want them to do, but also try to keep away from any bad habits they could develop, as they seem to learn and absorb most of your playstyle throughout these levels.

Levels 20-40
Rotate between different character types to fight against him, using your main, and characters that specialize in ground, aerial, defensive, and zoning (i.e - Little Mac for ground, ZSS for air, Pac-Man or Rob for zoning with items). Also get them used to team matches and free-for-alls.

Levels 40-50
Tweak them and spot train to perform certain functions. Is the amiibo not doing enough short hop/fast fall neutral airs? Then spam that move against them. They'll incorporate it into their game eventually.

Finally, don't just have them play strictly on Final Destination. Also incorporate stages with uneven platforms like Battlefield or Lylat Cruiser so they can develop strategies for multi-level stages.

I have both a Yoshi and Zelda Amiibo, and they both now play those characters more effectively than I can. Yoshi spams eggs, rushes down with dash or neutral air shorthop/fastfalls, grabs into u-airs, d-airs for shield pressure, and loves to spike with fairs.

Zelda is basically a ****. Spaces and plays footsies using dtilts, short hop fast falls with fair and bair sweetspots for kills, and phantoms for edgeguarding. She has also learned that fayore's wind is a great kill move, and uses it for closing or creating distance, and will use the move to combo into itself for the kill.

Using the above method has helped me train the amiibos to be killers as early as lvl 35. At that point, they were already mixing me up and dodging pretty effectively, would grab and pummel me before throws, and taunting whenever they would kill me.

Also, personally I don't like the idea of feeding them items to make them stronger/faster. I know they are already stronger without items, but I want to keep them as close to realistic training partners as possible since I don't have many people to play with locally.

My Marth amiibo has a tendency of Smashing by the ledge, even though he'll get punished. Best way to get around that?

Also, he has a tendency of using only the first hit of DB on the ground. I made his custom to heavy blade to mitigate the problem, but it's temporary. Thoughts?

My Fox Amiibo is currently level 41, and I've been training him to camp with lasers, do shine spikes, and tech chase with up smash, and it works effectively. The only problem I have is when I put him up against my Little Mac, he gets lost. For the life of him, he doesn't know what to do. He just takes hits and dies. Any suggestions on how to make my Fox better against little Mac?
My Fox Amiibo can currently 2 stock me handily, and can 3 stock any other level 9 computer.

I've got 6 amiibos. I've already told this in another thread but it would make sense to put it here and give out all the information in 1 post.

:4mario:Bidizzle is my first amiibo and currently is the strongest of the 6. He is purple and was trained by me but i also threw in a level 9 cpu at rare times so I can see his progress on taking it out.

:4pikachu:Sparky (blue party hat), :4yoshi:Bozer (red), :4kirby:Curbie (green), :4dk:Danky Kang (red) are the same age and each were trained differently.

Before they started training, they were put on a 3 stock free for all.
Danky Kang won, Sparky was 2nd, Curbie was 3rd, and Bozer was last. Once the match was over they started their training.
:4yoshi: Bozer was the first to get started to reach level 50. He is trained by :4mario: Bidizzle who was already at level 50. Sadly Bozer never defeated Bidizzle once Bozer reached 50.
:4dk: Danky Kang started his training once Bozer finished leveling up to 50. Danky kang was just set in 1v7 level 9 cpus for hours. He actually gets the most kills individually but he still loses and has the most deaths obviously.
:4kirby: Curbie started when Danky Kang was finished. Curbie was trained by a level 9 kirby. Curbie actually started to defeat the level 9 at level 35, proving that they can do much better than level 9 cpus even when they don't get buffs (they naturally get buffs at level 50 I believe).
:4pikachu:Sparky is the last trained amiibo out of the 4. He is only trained by me. Just like Bozer, he never defeated his master.

Once they were all level 50, they were put into another free for all at the same stage as where they first fought (which is battlefield) but 6 stocks instead (because I forgot to set it to 3).

Bozer actually won, Curbie was 2nd, Danky Kang is 3rd, and Sparky was last.

I decided to do 1v1s against each other and see who would get the most wins. I started with sparky and he defeated the other 3 which automatically makes him win because he won all of his matches and the others would already have a lost at least once.

So sparky was put to the test to defeat Bidizzle on Big Battlefield. If sparky was to win, he would have to fight me on final destination as his final test. Sadly Sparky lost to Bidizzle and he will have to try again at another time.
Later that day I got :4luigi:Lugy and just like Sparky, he is 100% trained by me except this guy has special buffs like exploding sheilding at first and later he got healing sheilding as well. I also try to keep him above rather than just have some stats on negative just because of those special buffs. I plan to give him another special but I'll wait to find a good one.

Lugy is actually pretty loyal compared to the others. Don't get me wrong they are all loyal but Lugy does things a little different. He actually taunts even at level 50. He doesn't taunt after a kill but he taunts on the edge when I try to get back and he actually spiked and killed me. Something I didn't know Luigi can do in the first place. I never knew that his down taunt actually was a meteor smash. It's not the same as taunting after a kill but I still count it in my book since I did do down taunts at the edge as mario whenever I killed him. Lugy also does combos I taught him. Such as, down throw + up air and down throw + down B.

Lugy actually defeated Bidizzle in a 3 stock match with 2 stocks remaining. In a rematch however, Bidizzle won with 2 stocks remaining. If Bidizzle can defeat Lugy (keep in mind that Lugy has special buffs) then Bidizzle should be the best out of the 6.

Lugy is actually the only amiibo to do 1v2 against 2 level 9 cpu and win (and it was 3 stock match too). So there's that too.

In the end of the results of these amiibos I currently have, I should list them in order of who is the best. 1 being the best and 6 being the worst. I'll also put in how they were trained so you can see what's the best way of the these 6. Remember there are others and probably more effective ways to train an amiibo (and I also haven't looked at many of these posts yet so...).

1.:4mario: Bidizzle. It's probably because he is the wisest and oldest. Not to mention he can even win even when Lugy has 2 big advantages. He is trained by me most of the time and I can consider him as my partner when I need him.
2.:4luigi: Lugy. His perfect exploding shield with healing abilities makes him powerful with my training. He also taunts still but as a strategy and does combos I taught him. (Bidizzle sort of tries my combos but a little differently). He can also take on 2 level 9 cpus at once.
3.:4pikachu: Sparky. Best of the 4 he was with on 1v1s. Trained by only me.
4. :4yoshi: Bozer. Champion of the 4 in the free for all. Trained by only Bidizzle.
5.:4kirby:Curbie. The 1v1 with sparky was close but still not as good. I'm surprised he is actually very good since he was only trained by a level 9 cpu that was also a kirby.
6.:4dk: Danky Kang. You would think ge would have an aadvantage on a free for all since he focused on more than 1 fighter. It may have been a 1v7 level 9 cpus but he would still have that kind of advantage. For people who actually think of just letting an amiibo take on 7 cpus at once and think he will be the best, that is not the case. Instead, maybe try to ease him into it or not as many cpus. He is also clueless on 1v1s as I see him do moves with barely any accuracy when he fought Sparky.

So there you go. This is my data with these 6 amiibos. Each were trained differently, they all did a good job (except for Danky Kang, I thought he would be at least a little better. I might reset him and give him a more proper way of training him). They all preformed differently in the end and it is really awesome to see how all these amiibos grew out to be and will only keep on getting better.

In case you guys missed it from the Twitch link, here's a perma-link for Poochie, a level 50 Peach, destroying her creator and myself.

Something interesting has happened with her... ever since her first loss, she seems to have lost a lot of skill. She's very easy to take down now, and it's not just because I know how - I even had a friend come in and fight her without telling him her weaknesses, and he had no trouble beating her on his first and second try. I can take her down much easier and consistently than you see here, too. It's like her first loss after 50 has broken her, as though the winning strategy she had before isn't good enough and as a result she's forgotten everything she knows.

So i have two amiibos... One samus and the other fox. My friend has a mario and a pikachu.
Ive noticed some strange patterns with the amiibos, as ive trained samus more times than i care to admit and fox only a few times, they seem to learn things on their own with or without it happening in a match. Samus i have the most troubles with. Samus seems to be quite a struggle to get right. The amiibos retain their leveled up strength regardless if customs is on or off. Fox lazers do 2 damage per shot instead of 1 and samus power rocket does18 damage..

As @ShasOkais said, yes its better to train them with the same character in the beginning and to let it have its customs as well.. ITs also better with you use the same customs as they have as well... My samus amiibo (or amiibro as ive named it) has suffered the same tactics when put against multiple comp. opponents; run away and spam the heck out of those rockets. When it entered a 1v1 situation it would implement the same tactics.. (This was rather frustrating ).

I believe its best to train it through the first few levels 1v1 against the computer (same character ) at 8 or. 9.. Id say 9 but they dont taunt after kills. Of course i have yet to train an amiibo and get it to taunt past lvl 40.. This teaches them all the ins n outs of the character Spot dodging to power shielding and grabs exct.. If you want it to excel at these you'll have to use them yourself.
Doing the rest of the training just 1v1.. Samus came out to be an average fighter... IT lost all the time albeit but it got some decent kills... However upon resetting it i found some interesting changes..
You see,idk if i went beast mode for a couple days or what the deal was) in resetting it i played it1v1 and i never lost a match all the way up to lvl50 (samus to samus the entire time).. I didnt spam rockets or use any form of strange game style. Now, i thought just maybe.. it would be unstoppable after the beating i bestowed upon it.. YET! It was bigger idiot then ive ever seen it to be... Like guys... It was just an idiot.. And i dont know how it can only lose and and not get smarter until i thought about it.. See, i think that after the amiibo starts to pick up some habits, you should let it win.. This reinforces the "these tactics =wins" logarithm. Now, letting it win and not teaching it to start giving up can be tricky. When i start to let it win i take that time to focus on spot doges or perfect shields so it can learn that as well.. I wont lie, when i implemented these she came out to be and aggressive perfect shielding, spot dodging punishing animal, including edge guards with meteors/or footstools and recognizing defensive play and answers with rockets... Its quite the sight to be hold.

Now my fox on the other hand is an interesting guy (named "Tryhard"). He had the up comings of a legend, double jab to d-grab to foward air, he short hoped nairs bairs and ruthless up smashes out of shield (the pride was real guys*tears*) Then he hit 50. And something changed, he stopped doing everything that made him amazing, and instead only did up smashes and down smashes, and spams them like a troll.. I never taught him this he just decided to do it one match. His reflects however still are frame perfect.
And to top it off, he decided he was a boss ledge guarding and that he could jump off and fast fall a nair when off the edg resulting in a fast fall to his death... While hilarious to watch, ultimately its not to its not very proficient. Idk how to stop him of this, if i spot dodge he'll hold it the smash.. If i shield it knocks me back some and he then leads with a grab.. Reacting to anything as fast as a computer ai can..

All in all, the amiibo is designed to be a beast against you... It really is an anti you
His mario however... Went to town on both of my amiibos... However he brought his amiibo at lvl40, so it had the ten lvls to learn from from both of my amiibos, (that clever devil) and it most certainly payed off..his amiibo is a beast.. IDK maybe its just mario.. But his really picked up quick to both of the amiibos style, while mine where both at lvl. 50
