I havent played a pokemon game since emerald version and when i beat that game i gave it up for 3 years. i didnt play diamond or pearl because of a lack of a ds but now its different..When i come across pokemon on tv im like..wow i want to play again. Since i have money saved up and lots of unused gamestop giftcards i figure"what the heck it will be fun, who cares if im 18 almost done with my senior year of highschool." my cousin who is the same age as me never stopped liking pokemon and i used to make fun of him for it but idk..I probrably wont end up telling people i play it just because my school sucks >_<. I feel that if i have a life outside of video games(member of a club swim team) im not a total gamer..
So anyways people say that platinum wont be good since its just like diamond and pearl. But for someone like me who hasnt played neither im excited. :D

Why is that wrong Spire?

No it's not wrong. Pokemon can still be fun if you choose a fun team.

I say make the game difficult on yourself and it'll last you a good while.
Go fight the Elite Four at level 50 when you get there.

Actually, fight them at 46.
It'll be fun.

Anyways, I'm 16 and still enjoy the games. Have enjoyed the games ever since the start. The only thing that sucked majorly about the new generation is the pace of the game. If you're leveling up, leave battle animations off because they drag out a battle for longer than it should be.

I got bored with Diamond. I'm just a little fed up with the pokemon routine and the little they do to try and innovate the game(and I mean really bring something fresh, not just touch screen attacks).

Regardless, I'd get the newer game because Diamond/Pearl only had like, three fire types.

The next one is the remake of Gold/Silver right? I'm definitely getting that. As to pokemon being exclusive, they all do that. That's how they made their money until wifi was introduced to pokemon. You were forced to either buy a link cable or buy the other game. It's all business

@Spire: If that's wrong, then I don't want to be right.

On topic: There is nothing wrong with Pokemon at any age. I'm in college, and the other day I was sitting on the bus with my DS out and Emerald in, leveling up my Flygon. If people judge you, then it's their loss. I haven't played any of the 4th gen, so I don't know how it compares, but go for it if you want to.

There is no remake of gold/silver yet.

I'm still buying platinum, the diamond/pearl remake.

BTW, you never grow out of pokemon. Ever. I'm going to be playing Pokemon with my grandkids lol.

well i would assume somewhere along the lines, they would remake gold and silver like they did for red/blue. But you're right, following the patter on pokemon games, its always 2 separate games (diamond/pearl) then the remake (platinum). So, after platinum, I would assume the gold/silver remakes would be coming out

LeafGreen / FireRed came out before Emerald didn't they?

Emerald was a 2006 game I think, while LG/FR were 2005 or 2004.

Either way, there's a higher possibilty with the 12th movie coming out. And for the fact that there is a new battle frontier for ash and co. to go to and that there are no new pokemon that are being advertised at this time except for platinum version pokes..

There should be a thread for gsds in the poke center if there isn't one >.>

I thought emerald was on a regular gameboy, or wait, that's crystal nvm. But I still think gold and silver are next in line for remakes after platinum, so they can have more time to build anticipation for the next generation of pokemon or whatever
