imo, after every week, we should total up the points and post them here/on akg and print them out for a hard copy for people to see there.

if things go good first season, we shouldn't rule out the possibility of including money in this. i dont know how everyone else would prefer to do it, but having a set amount (like 5-30 each) at the beginning, and then have it split up between 1st-5th. that way, people will want to get their moneys worth since they payed at the beginning

oh yeah. title.

im gonna update points and **** after EVERY ranbat. put it on 2nd post and AKG.

as for the money thing, its gonna be at the student union, so OFFICIALLY, they wont allow that, and we may be kicked out if word got out to management. but ill talk to them about it and see.

if we do include money, im not gonna be putting out the prize every season from my own pocket.

now, seeing as how this is the 1st seasons, things go are gonna go a little rough, i appreciate as much feedback as possible.

Finally, we need set ups and TVs, the more things we have, the faster things can move along. keep in mind that it IS a public space and randoms will walk in and want to play, and we DO have to oblige to some of them because it's originally a student union program and originally for casual gamers. im just kinda taking over it... lol... so, if we bring our own ****, thats ours to use and ours to control. they have 2 TVs and a projector, and 1 wii. and those are theirs to control and use. the wii will more than often be hooked up to the projector, but the 2 TVs are free for other people to bring in setups.

as for the title, ima fix that too

DAEMONFANG IS SO ****ING COOL I MEAN NOT ONLY CAN HE TECH STUFF HE'S DOING RANBATS AND **** TOO! OMFG!! oh and that ***** che_lab be killin bats.... ranBATS **** yea >.>

Brawl Ranbats Rulesets

General rules:

* 3 Stock

* 8 minute timer

* Items are set to "off" and "none"

* All sets with the exception of winner's finals, loser's finals, and the championship are best of 3 matches (best of 5 and above should be played out for any "finals" matches)

* In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors

* No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.

* If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.

* Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is NOT banned. (my ranbats, my rules GOGOGOGO)

*There is a 50 ledge grab limit.

* If a game ends with Bowser doing his suicide klaw and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for Bowser.

* You are responsible for your own controller and name tag. Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility, so bring an extra controller if possible and always check to make sure you're using the correct settings BEFORE a match is played. If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties.

* Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.

* Stalling is banned (unless you're metaknight).

Stalling: The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs must end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.

Set format (In Order of Procedure):
1. Opponents choose their characters for the first match *
2. Opponents start the stage striking procedure
3. Each player may announce one stage to be banned for counterpicks of the set
4. The first game is played, using the stage chosen during step 2
5. The loser of the previous match announces the next match's stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter Stage List
6. The winner of the previous match chooses their character
7. The loser of the previous match chooses their character
8. Repeat steps 5-7 for all proceeding matches
*Double blind character selection may be called for the first match

Optional Rules

Some rules were discussed in the SBR but were not deemed to be important enough to consider staples to a rule set, or were considered to be too intrusive to be common. We recommended you include any of the following optional rules you deem to be necessary and modify them as needed.

* Port slob picks: On a player's counterpick, that player may opt to redo the port selection process with that player or team picking their port first.

* Resolving Ties: Any games ending in time running out should always be decided by stock, and then percents. If percents are the same or both players die simultaneously, there will be a 1 stock overttime or the sudden death will be played out. The TO needs to decide which of these will be used before the tournament. Bowser's suicide klaw is exempt from this rule.

* Color Blind rule: Should a player have a color-based disability, he or she may request in a teams match to have a specific color for their team. This is so characters such as Lucario or Sonic can be granted the blue team so that there is not unnecessary confusion.

* Wiimotes and Classic Controller users should know to take the batteries out of their controllers after finishing a set; not only will this save battery life, but it prevents accidental intereference and delay for tournament matches.

* Pirated copies of Brawl or modded Wii consoles will not be used for tournament matches.

* The Mages DQ rule: After a match has been called, if a player is two minutes late he will receive a warning. At 4 minutes late, he will be given a loss for the first game of the set. After six minutes, he will be given a loss of the entire set.

* It is recommended to have a station set up specifically for Gamecube controllers; this prevents intereference from wiimotes in future matches, whether intentional or accidental. This is a great way to make sure the finals go smoothly. Alternatively, you could make a station for wiimotes only, but it is recommended to have a GC only station.

if anyone here doesnt want arthur to take 1st, step up ur game dudes

im thinking of adding senshicon tournaments as bonus points for ranbats. if you compete you get +5 bonus points added, if you place 1st 4 bonus points, 2nd, 3 bonus points, etc PLUS the 5 that u got for competing... think of it as extra credit... what does everyone think?

Nobody here would beat me in a Brawl or Melee tournament. Probably the same for 64, guilty gear and blazblue.

Not to sound arrogant or anything, but I feel player skill up here has been stagnant for QUITE a while. Beyond the initial improvement some people have experienced, just about EVERYBODY has been around the same skill-wise forever.

As far as I can tell, it feels like I am the only one that has the current capability to really improve. Which is funny, considering that I don't play much these days at all. As soon as I bypass that eternal mental block, I JUST HAPPEN to hardly play at all. How funny!

Concerning the gap in skill, I dunno. It just REALLY feels like people are just ****ing around in the game or just simply aren't playing to win for the most part. Which is cool for those who view the game that way. That's YOUR thing. But me? Nowadays I play to win. I'm not interested in hanging out for ****s and giggles. I aim to win.

I don't know how large it is between me and the other melee players, but for Brawl I can certainly say that the gap is PRETTY **** big. Like, after me the second best and so on are just QUITE far behind me.

And those matches I lost at that last Play/Trade thing?

Me being dumb/not adapting. I KNOW where/when/how I ****ed up and have adjusted. But others? Nobody is adapting. Same strats 24/7. Whatever the case may be, I won't lose any more matches in Brawl. Can't have people thinking others are better then me in Brawl, can we now?

Don't worry about me storming "ranbats" or whatever the hell that is. I'm not partaking in it. Just tournaments.

It's too bad other people might check this thread out and get the wrong idea concerning who's on top and stuff, but no huge concern.

thats pretty cool and all, but arent you contradicting yourself when you say you play to win, and you dont show up to ranbats? and from what it seems, not even knowing what ranbats is? if you do, then puting that **** up in quotes is just pissing on the community cuz we worked hard to get this going, in which case, you can go **** yourself. It's too bad that while this is a competitve community, like jordan said, its still alaska and this is as competitve as it gets. Also, some people improve at a different rate than others, sure, but you're still not unbeatable.

EDIT: This ranbat is fairly important as well considering Brawl was just added to the MLG circuits down in the lower48. so, if i dont go to Evo, im more than likely going to Anaheim for their pro circuits.

Arthur, how come you say you want people to get better yet aren't going to compete, and as the current top player, force people to improve if they wish to win?
