A lot of things could have gone wrong in bringing a plane down in a river, close to a bridge, without engines, facing the wrong direction relative to the river.
All pilots are "trained" to deal with such things. How many of them successfully pull it off? How many things could have (and did) go wrong? Now I wouldn't use the word "miracle", but I would attribute this success to the ability of the pilot. This is not a bag of chips falling out of a vending machine.
Besides, I'm not sure why some people seem to think "heroic" and "it was their job" are mutually exclusive. Just because something is your "job", does not mean you cannot be praised as a hero for doing it.
Firefighters? It's their job. But are you honestly going to say they don't deserve recognition as heroes for what they do? Not all "jobs" are created equal, and the nature of some jobs or aspects of some jobs is such that those who do them deserve recognition for it.
