i recently found out about air teching in order to escape the spin that sometimes occurs when your hit off stagt to know e. Is air teching is generally used to escape combos, survive longer (like di), or cancel any of marth's moves such as his dair, and does it apply to other characters?

Air teching? you mean wiggling the control stick left and right while you're tumbling? any character can do that, and it doesn't reduce the lag of your moves so you should still l-cancel.

If you mean wiggling.. then just wave your control stick from left to right to be straight again, but it won't cancel your aerials.

If you saw that thread about "air teching" in melee discussion, then there is no such thing as air teching. That was the invisible wall glitch.

Yeah, pretty cruel if you ask me.

If you are talking about teching on the stage, you can't escape combos since your opponent won't be comboing you, you can cancel any move and every character can do it. It's just that different attacks have different timings.

i guess i meant wiggling back and forth in mid air to escape the spin that immobilizes you, what I also want to know is if you can wiggle quickly after being hit to counter attack an opponent.

i think he means stage teching

here's a video

Those vids are on youtube now? I watched those over and over again. I learned soo much from your Marths.

Godfinger: I don't understand you when you say "counter attack an opponent." Do you mean to use an aerial after wiggling? If so, you don't need to wiggle to aerial. If you mean use the counter attack, same situation but I wouldnt suggest using that much anyways.

I understand the concept of wiggling, but how does ken do the stage techs shown in the movie to fall straight down rather than get destroyed?

What you do is press L within 20 frames of getting hit and SmashDInd into the wall. You will automatically ASDI if your holding towards the wall when you get hit. At higher percentages you have to click L sooner in the original 20 frame window so it's good to get in the habit of pressing L sooner.

Wouldn't that just be an air dodge? Or almost a weird side of the level wave dash? If he had grabbed the ledge already he would have frames of invincibility i thought... Sorry for the questions, i've been what i recently discovered to be a "casual" smasher for a couple years now, only recently found this place and seen the light, so know the basics but full of questions on the advanced things, thanks in advance

You cannot air-dodge during an UpB. Sweet-spotting while avoiding Marth's FSmash is only possible if you use the UpB early and have Marth teleport horizontally to the ledge. Thus, you UpB and hit L immediately afterward to anticipate the FSmash edgeguard that you're going to tech out of.
