Air Grab Release to Mine/C4?

I'm rather new to Snake so please forgive me if this is old news...I searched "release" and read through 4-5 pages ;0 hope it's okay lol

being a former wario main i can't help but attempt some kind of grab release with every char haha, i noticed that Snake forces an air-release vs everyone (old I know). So I placed a mine on a higher platform, then air-released my opponent onto that platform for a successful hit.

So I'm wondering, is this legit? Is it guaranteed with a mine on a higher platform? I've been trying to get it with C4 as well, but I can't get it all the time, it's probably just a timing issue.

Since I'm here, I might as well also ask; is it possible to force a ground grab release onto a nearby mine/c4/grenade? I've been trying but it's hard to set up.

Here's an easy way to check. If detonating a C4 takes more then 22 frames, then it's not possible. If it takes less frames, then it's possible.

Of course, this is all character specific, since every character has a different Jump Release.

I've done both where I'd be a little far from the mine and air grab release so that they land on it (I think some characters can jump before they land)...and I've done a regular grab release with the mine right in front of me so that they release onto it and explode.

Never did a C4 before but perhaps that's possible. Also, I don't know what guarantees an air-grab release to occur.

Does no one at all read my threads anymore?

You can grab release (air) c4 stick wario, and I believe if you fast fall and buffer a utilt you can still hit him with that as well. I did the testing and the c4 stick is guarenteed, however the utilt is.. I'm unsure... sometimes it tips when they jump/airdodge, othertimes they can jump/airdodge to avoid it, it's obviously human error or the buffer system works weird.

Read my metagame thread, has a lot of neat information like this.

I already know about the one on Wario T__T

No worries, I've read a lot of your posts on this board :colorful:

First post I'm not referring to Wario, I'm talking about any opponent. Air grab release so they land on a mine that is placed on a higher platform.

So I've tested it and a some characters release high enough to land on the top platform of Battlefield. Something else I've noticed is that when they are on their way up, they never get hit by the mine. There's a waiting period of come sort.

Forcing ground release into mine - possible

forcing ground release into grenade - if you perfectly space and time it, it's easier to just space it and timer it even better and have controller port priority just in case

forcing ground release into a c4 - if you perfectly grab them near it, with perfect spacing, a bit before the 26.5 second timer runs out.

air releasing onto a higher platform - if spaced correctly, yes this should work. some characters may be able to jump out of it, and the spacing is different for pretty much every character because they break out at different angles and speeds. may be guarenteed on some, and not on others.

sorry, didn't entirely read thread, just the title =p been doing that recently....

ps, about the whole 'on the way up thing'

it doesn't explode unless they land on the platform, you can test this by laying a mine on a platform on battlefield. once layed, run underneath it to show it doesn't explode, then stand underneath it and jump. you'll notice it never explodes until you land on the platform, and in fact you can DI in such a way to jump through it, never land on it, and not have it explode ;) just a little fun fact.

I just tried the C4 thing on Wario, I don't think the Utilt is guaranteed afterwards. If Wario DI's and dodges as soon as possible, he'll get out of it. The C4 stick is guaranteed though.

90% sure you cannot DI air or ground releases.... until after the 'release' part is over with....

But I've gotten the utilt sometimes, and other times not.. its weird.... worth a shot trying in game just once to see if it works

grab release, stick, utilt, explode =p too epic

I've tested that stuff against a MK on BF (mine on left platform grabbed him somewhere in the middle) and i wasn't able to jump/airdodge, so yeah i suppose this is legit. it doesn't work with c4 they can shield.

I don't mean DI the actual release, but if you immediately start to DI, Wario moves fast enough in the air that he gets out of the way by the time the Utilt starts.
