So this technique is actually useless, except in some situations where you KNOW for some reason what your opponent is going to do (against bots or automode players)
I'm kinda disappointed, it seemed like a good find.

Unfortunately, yes. It's exactly how you described. This is only useful if you know that your opponent is about to attack you and he is also standing next to the ledge at the time.

Very situational. Still good to know it's an option just in case.
