A bit of advice for your particular problem. Most Falco players do not double shine, in fact, often times they try to repeat the drill shine to break your shield. So just time a spot dodge when they shine, and come back with your own shine to throw them away from you. Then you can follow up with Thunder's Combo to anything else you want to do. This won't solve all of your problems, but meh, it's an idea.

Otherwise, just check the guides.

just fyi, you should definitely have used the search function before posting this, as there are tons of threads already that contain info about how to fight falco with fox.

however, before this gets closed, i will give you this link:

http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=35050

that is cunningkitsune's guide to fox. scroll about 3 quarters down to find character match-ups. everything you need to know is there. for the opinions of more smashers, use the search function.

imagine smashboards where everyone would use the search function. it wouldnt be a forum it would be an archive or library where nobody was allowed to talk and if you ask me that wouldnt sound like a very fun forum. i encourage every new thread nomatter what it is because it keeps forums alive.

ok now on to the falco which i have to admit i have the most problems with too. thunders combo is your best friend in my opinion i try to use it maybe twice a stock which could be too much but it works and it racks up 50+ damage if you get the u-air u-smash and maybe 1-2 more u-airs. and against the lasers just try to always watch the falco if you see him begin a short hop when hes not very close to you hes probably going to spit out one of those horrifying lasers. usually if hes approaching i tend to jump over the lasers and then go from there with a nair or maybe a triple laser but if hes just shl spamming then pull out that shine but you can do it either way. now im not a super pro smasher id say im average so take my advice knowing that it could be wrong just try it out it seems to work for me.

I agree, keep the forums alive, although good threads are worth 300 of their bad counterparts...

Remember to mix up the recovery as much as you can, if you see him just sitting there waiting for firefox, do a quick illusion

And learn the timeing to shine out of the illusion, it is a free kill, and if you cancel it when he firefoxes to surprise you, you can still gimp him there.

Full hopped nairs are great

don't get lasered. </most obvious advice ever> full hop nairs, and uthrow>usmash, and uthrow>bair are great. @ low %s uthrow>shine while near edge, sets up for edgegaurding. Only try to shinespike when the falco sets themselves up for it. which they won't very often.

thank you, ive noticed that snotty attitude with these forums every once in a while when i have a question,

but yea ill just work on thunder's combo, that obviously one of the best combos to pull of on falco and ledgegaurding him of course

My bad man, I didn't mean to come across as stuck up or an a-hole or anything. It's just that you truly would benefit from browsing previous topics about this. sorry for discouraging your asking a question. the last thing i want to be considered is snotty, because i know very well how bad ppl can be on these forums.

i didn't really read what other ppl recommended you do against falco, but just in case nobody mentioned this, you should always remember this: if you can get Falco off the edge, you can shinespike him. watch out for the phantasm spike though, that'll get you killed :s

indeed if your going out to shine spike a phantasm always be ready to meteor cancel it. it not only saves your life but makes you look awesome.

well i just played my 2 friends falco's today with my fox (they dont let me use ganondorf anymore ^.^ gdorf pwnage) and all i have to say is once you can start predicting their approach they just melt. some mindgames i like to play which you can probably put into your game is circle jumping or i think its called circle jumping when you jump as if you were going towards them and waveland backwards. now while your doing it you might notice a SHL coming your way so instead of wavelanding you can shine and jump out of it and either go for the attack or fast fall and waveland backwards. that seemed to mess them up the most. i also like to approach with a SHL or two and if needed shine one of theirs and instead of going for an attack just wavedash in place and then react with whatever you feel is best at the time.

well yeah i just got done playing smash and those were some mindgames that i used so i figured id share them.

i hate falco so much....>.> and peach

Yeah, that's circle jumping, but the falco that gives me the most trouble i can't circle jump too much cause he's continously covering the whole stage w/ lasers (godd*amnit anther).

Also remember not to play to flashily. My game is least flashy against a falco on FD.

its fine, just came off as a bit snotty, but i did use the search and check the links, read up on it, and i believe it will help, and im goin to play a real good falco today, so ill remember all this stuff

and for the mindgames and circle jumping, i agree with scotu, that would be really hard to do if the falco is spammin those lasers, then it could really set you up cuz the falco could follow with an aerial or even a smash attack, so i try to keep my mindgames simple, just wavedashing backwards, or just full hop and go for aerials, idk but the lasers really **** up my mindgames

A simple thing to do is just predict the aerial. Once you see the aerial start up, dashdance backwards, let them land, and grab them during the lag of the aerial, then proceed to do whatever out of uthrow you want.

Fulljump nair > Falco. Kills shffl'd approaches.

rgr that. A friend of mine plays a pretty mean Falco and he SHL's me from the other side of FD, and makes his way across the entire stage without letting me move. then he grabs me. its not fun (btw, if i shield, his SHL still stuns my shield enough for him to approach)

but the thing is, i usually beat him when he uses Falco, so another thing you've got to remember is even if your opponent has a perfect SHL game, there are still tons of ways around it.
