I just bought a EasyCap Capture card off of amazon and i was wondering if there is any way to add commentary while recording. I mean, like have it automatically synched when the video comes out. I don't mean just recording your voice into audacity or something then adding that onto the video after it comes out.

That really is the best way to record commentary (@ least until these devices have integrated mics.)

A mic, whatever software you use to record commentary, and go.

i found out that if u use virtualdub, u can set the audio source to a microphone and u can just comment like that.
That is if you have virtualdub as your recording software in the first place, which isn't the case for a good number of people on this site.

For example, HMW uses the implementation I described again.

You'd be hard pressed to find people lugging VCRs around for just this
notwithstanding all the interlacing you get when recording from a VHS
, but to each their own I guess. :ohwell:

It can work, but it is not very practical.

VCR's aren't as bad as everyone thinks. I don't have a laptop so its a lot better than a computer.

Also, as far as I know you can't have multiple audio sources in one file when recording in vdub, which means you can't really have in-game audio (it's only in the background of the commentary).

What I actually do for commentary is plug the audio cables into a 'karaoke machine' (it's basically a massive speaker with a microphone for announcing) and it works really well :D
