I know this has been an issue for a long time. My TV has noticeable lag in it when playing Brawl and it's enough to make it unplayable really. I've heard Melee won't lag on it for some reason ( older disc? ) but I haven't tried yet. I've heard component cables could fix the lag? I've also heard it doesn't.

Philips 19" 720p 60Hz LCD TV

Progressive Scan: Progressive scanning (line doubling)
Widescreen Modes: Zoom 16:9, WideScreen, Conventional 4:3
Comb Filter: 3D digital
Additional Features: Parental control, contrast enhancer, Digital Crystal Clear, Digital Noise Reduction (DNR)
Diagonal Size: 19" - widescreen
Display Format: 720p
Resolution: 1366 x 768
Viewing Angle: 170 degrees
Viewing Angle (Vertical): 160 degrees
Image Contrast Ratio: 1000:1

Theres the specs. Anyone know how I can get rid of the lag?

- My 360 doesn't lag on it ( or atleast I think it doesn't ). Maybe they are built to play on HDTV's or something.

Actually certain 360 games do lag, but it depends on what you're playing. If you're playing a 60 FPS game on the Box, you probably won't notice it. But a 30 FPS game such as any of the Halo games comes off as extremely noticeable.

I hope someone can answer your questions man.

Melee will lag (720p)

I dunno about brawl but I'm pretty sure it's impossible to eliminate lag on a tv like that for melee, you can only reduce it

if you play fighting games or any other game that requires heavy twitch reaction, you shouldn't play on an LCD to begin with. most fighting game players, or at least ones i know, always keep an older, spare TV around to play said games on.

upscaling - lag

gc native is 480p

most modern hdtvs don't dip that low
so they have to upscale to 720 or even worse, 1080.

ways to limit lag?

gc component cables are also available.

try to activate a game mode or no upscaling mode.

also causes lag - converting analog to digital
sort of related to upscaling.
more of a reason why you have to use component or vga/hdmi cables

also causes lag -- image postprocessing.
most hdtvs nowadays like to process the images they receive and make them pretty

sometimes you can turn it off
sometimes it is avoidable by using said above cables

sometimes it is unavoidable.
