With the upcoming Japanese and American releases, info will be leaked across the forum about playable characters and the like.

Now, just for comparison, HBO (halo's fansite) told its user not to look at the forums in fear of spoliers, though they would not post any spoliers on their main page.

This being almost entirely a forum site, that kinda of option is not feasable, but perhaps a different message board could be opened up for the discussion of spoliers for 2 weeks before Japan launch and 2 weeks after US launch (sorry Europe, I dont know when you guys are going to get Smash so Im just not inculding you out of ignorance).

I love this site and I love the community, both competitive and casual so I don't want to be forced to not visit the site in fear of having anything spoiled immediately.

Just a thought, take it or leave it.

It'd probably be better to create a room with no spoilers because otherwise people might get confused, either way I think it's just too much work when the spoilers will end up getting leaked anywhere anyway.

I understand your sentiments, but your request is rather unrealistic. No matter what, you're going to end up finding out spoilers if you go on the internet anytime from now till Brawl comes out. You KNOW that this whole site will be flooded with spoilers, whether the mods make separate boards or not.

Either way there is going to be some troll that thinks he's funny posting a bunch of spoilers in the wrong spot.

Your best bet is really to just avoid the site completely. Or all gaming sites for that matter. Better yet, just go play outside for a couple weeks.

To avoid spoilers, you need to jump in a cold ditch and bury themselves. Seriously, if you have any friends, heck even if you don't have friends, there are going to be people bursting with the info. I'd suggest unplugging internet, tying up the phone, stocking up on food and get ahead in school/work to avoid it. Rofl, this thing is impossible to miss.

I definitely understand the concept of having a spolier free room when a game launches has some logistical problems (like what is and isnt considred a spoiler), but hey lets say a room for those who have already bought the game to congregate just for a week or two to discuss things in there while people who dont have it can continue speculating or talking about whatever they want.

Honestly, if you're not here for spoilers concerning Brawl, there's not really any reason to stick around the Brawl section. Until you get the game, there's not really anything else to talk about.

We need spoiler tags.

Oh, wait.
We have spoiler tags. If you go to the advanced reply option, you'll see it right next to the button that says "wiki." It has an A that's fading from white text into black text.
See?
. The easiest way to do it would be to put
and [/ SPOILER] around your text without the spaces of course.

well i mean not everyone will use spoiler tags, so y doesnt it hurt to try creating a new room.

this will at least lessen the chance of a random spoiler.

btw im not a forum noob. i participate in other forums, and i really dont feel like posting her most of the time.
but i do read ur comments. ill post more when brawl comes out.

Umm... deal with it?

You are in the minority, and this site is all about spreading information and having fun speculation. Don't expect 99% of the people on this site to cater to you.

Like someone said... if you don't want spoilers, then don't come on the boards.

Actually, if you want a better answer here's one...

the only thing that would even count as a techincal spoiler is the storyline for SSE.

On almost no board are character unlockables considered spoilers. Esepcially for fighting games. Since a game can be played by someone long after its released, you can't regulate when enough time has passed to count characters as non-spoilers.

Here's an example. If unlockable characters were spoilers, then we'd not be allowed to talk about Mewtwo or Marth in Melee. Because they would be spoilers. Someone may not have played the game yet, maybe they didn't want it spoiled for them.

So yeah, if you don't want to know the roster when it comes out. Don't come on the boards.

This is the very purpose and function of having a Smash Bros. oriented message board, to discuss Smash Bros. People aren't going to limit conversation on a board dedicated to it.

Being a good little conformist
This issue has been discussed several times before. We don't have any plans to create a spoiler only zone (or a spoiler free zone) because it'll just be too hard to enforce, and odds are some people will try to subvert it anyway.

If you want some Brawl news that's spoiler free, you can try our spoiler free news page, which we'll be keeping clear of spoilers. There's also an RSS feed you can use that has the same content. Aside from that, I really wouldn't recommend going on any gaming forum (or any other forum that might discuss Brawl) if you really don't want to get spoiled.
