Smash Lord
Well, as many of you know, I've been holding Melee smashfests and tournaments for a while now, and I had to stop doing that because school started. My Melee bi-weeklies are going to start up again on the 29th, and I'm going to be having some special guests over for it. I'm in Junior year now in high school, and the workload is tougher than ever...
Anyways, the homecoming dance for my high school is coming up this weekend, specifically on the 27th. Homecoming is pretty important to me, but not for the typical reasons.
About one year ago, I went to a smashfest at God-is-my-Rock's place in Alexandria, on a Friday night that I had nothing to do on (October 5th 2007).
This was the date for homecoming that year at Madison HS, and my friend Jesse had recently broken up with his girlfriend so we decided we should hang out instead of going to homecoming. This nice fellow called "Redd" messaged me on AIM and told me of a smashfest that was going to happen in Alexandria, so Jesse and I decided to go.
I was immediately hooked. Playing smash with so many new people was amazing. After going to a few more I started hosting some of my own. Anyways, you get the idea. Here I am, with the homecoming dance coming up early this year, thinking about what I should do.
This isn't really my one year anniversary of getting into the competitive smash scene, but it's close enough. This smashfest will be commemorating my advancement as a person and as a smash player since October of last year. Being important to me, I will try to secure as many setups as I can, and clean out my basement so this can be an enjoyable experience for anyone coming.
Anyways, enough with the formalities. Let me just copypasta information from another thread and edit it a bit so it fits with the topic.
Post if you want to come. This is a Melee event, so I will expect it to be focused on Melee.
I have a good sized basement, so unless I get like 30 people, there's not going to be a problem with space. I have 3 TVs, all in perfect working order (I bought a new mini-TV). I do not have Brawl. If someone wants to bring Brawl, that's fine, but I'm not taking a Melee setup off unless people get REALLY whiny. If there is a free TV we will set it up. If you're going to bring anything, be it a GC+Melee or a TV or some other thing that people will be using, just let me know by posting.
I have one TV that cannot take anything but RF signal, and I don't have a Wii RF adapter. I do, however, have an N64 RF adapter which is 100% compatable with the GC. This means that there is not going to be a Wii at this TV.
If you bring a TV, you can dictate what goes on it. It can be anything from SSB64 to Tetris, I don't really care. This doesn't mean that you can steal setups from other TVs, though, so if you plan on bringing a TV bring your own setup as well. This has been my policy for a while and I believe it to be a good one.
My address is:
3206 Cambridge Court
Fairfax, VA 22030
I'm in the larger white house on the very left where the road ends.
You should call me when you're close to my house because it can be hard to hear knocking on the door when we're in the basement and there is talking/smash/controller clicking going on. For people who need to keep their car someplace, I suggest parking on the road before you turn into Cambridge Court. It's named Ranger Road. Inside the court every parking spot is dedicated to the owners of the houses. This means DO NOT PARK IN A NORMAL PARKING SPACE!!
My cell number is 703-400-7869.
Call me if you have problems finding the house or if you have any questions and can't reach me another way. You can get me on AIM, my screen name is "samaster6".
Bring $5 for food if you plan on eating. I can't pay for the food by myself...
Smashfest starts at 11:00 AM, and ends at 11:00 PM.

Obviously the people who make up the smash community are way more important than the actual game. You are all amazing. Here are some shoutouts:
Redd: Hey, I know you. You're that guy who messaged me on AIM, telling me to go to GIMR's place. I don't know how to thank you for that...
Boss: You're an amazing player, but I don't really think that needs to be said. You bring the ****, and you always are one to help me with various things. Thanks Boss, I hope you'll continue to come to my smash things no matter how good you get.
Korn: Oh jeez, only the best Falcon player EVAR!!1! Thanks for coming to my stuff, and for looking out for me. It's apparent to me that you care about the smash community. Thanks for being chill.
ChaosKnight: CK, you're a really cool guy (just wanted to start with that). You, along with Boss and Korn, have brought people to my smashfests and helped me make them popular. You're also the guy who (just by you playing) made me take Fox more seriously. Thanks...
thesage: Ness-Max, wtf?! We talk and play too much, but hey, thanks for being available and there. As much fun as it is to make fun of you, you're actually pretty cool despite being ridiculously weird sometimes. You and Fardeen are probably the two reasons that I bothered going to any smash event after my first.
Tha L@wl: Always with Ness-Max, thanks for being there Fardeen. I know that you've been unlucky when trying to come to my smash stuff, hopefully that will change sometime soon. Keep it cool man.
knightpraetor: ****, where do I start? You're probably the only person outside of my crew that has improved my game such a large amount. You're very knowledgeable and a very cool guy, it's too bad that you had to move away from NoVA.
Parenthesis: You've helped my Falcon get much better, not by telling me how to do it right, but by me watching you do it right. You always cheer me up with compliments when I'm feeling down, and I really have to thank you for that.
SOJ: Oh man, we stopped getting together for some reason. School, maybe? You're an awesome guy. You need to come to my bi-weeklies once they start up again.
Rei: You're a great guy from my standpoint, but I think I should be thanking you more from the perspective that you're someone Ikagi can talk to personally about his obsessions. I know he appreciates someone that's into the same stuff he's into.
Team Boosted: ****. YOU ARE ALL AMAZING. I don't know what to say, guys. We're a team for more than smash. It's based on friendship, trust, and loyalty. In the end, I really know that I can depend on you guys to catch me when I fall.
And last but not least, I would really like to thank someone by the name of Andrew Kim. Andrew, you should know why. Thanks.
