With Lycanroc's multiple forms, wouldn't it be that we'd get Midday as a unique, Dusk as an alt, and Midnight as a Lucario semiclone? Ignoring my anti-Incineroar bias I have no idea who Incineroar could even be a semiclone of.

Some people have proposed that he would be a semi-clone of various heavyweights like Bowser, whom has a side-special somewhat akin to Incineroar's wrestler playstyle.

As for the Lycanroc form idea, not sure if we would get Midday and Midnight playable. If Midnight Lycanroc were a semi-clone, I think it would take aspects of various claw users like Charizard and Wolf (Also taking Charizard's Rock Smash, which was cut in favor of the PKMN Trainer transformation mechanic returning).

I'm curious on your thoughts on Source Gaming's Super Smash Bros content which is getting a lot flak as of recent and their Rate That Character segment whenever it's the characters that you predict might be in or not.

I don't believe in Source Gaming's recent theories, especially the box theory. Source Gaming is a valuable source for Sakurai interviews, but I personally do not think they do a great job at using their sources to speculate newcomers. Their Rate Their Chance videos are ok at best, but I wished they went more in-depth with their newcomer analyses and critically thought about each newcomer's pros and cons more.

Yeah, that's what the general consensus feel about those speculations. Source Gaming is faltering a lot in that area and to some extent their recent Rate That Character videos but I do think that the previous two Directs is what clouding their judgements on all those theories and the suppose leaks didn't help either. Plus, for RTC, it is done by different individuals, so different bias for different scores I guess but I do agree in a way that they should've been more in-depth with the candidates especially with the score reflecting more with the pros and cons. They did have a RTC review discussion where they talk and defend their final verdict on certain characters mostly on those who were fan favourites that had very low score or 3rd party characters whose chance percentage were too high. Sadly there was only two videos on that though.
What's your thoughts on the chances of your characters in RTC? (Or at least the ones they covered?)

They generate discussion based off of the info they currently have, and form an opinion based off that incomplete scarce data.
Otherwise, it'd just be non-stop leak discussion and that's rather uninteresting.

Course, the only characters I want are borderline 0%s.

I remember Lycanroc, Lip, Geno, and Elma disappointing me in terms of ratings. The individual SG raters who rated the character just did not go in-depth with them or had pros/cons that were just really odd (Like Geno being an echo of a Mii Fighter).

50/50 possibility I feel. With third-party echos being possible, maybe we could see Ms. Pac-Man happening, but she would slightly harder to obtain the license of than Shadow and Richter. I feel Sakurai's criteria of echos being extremely loose, with not much factors required to get in. At the least, being popular within their respective franchise or being highly requested in Smash is all that is required, and Ms. Pac-Man certainly fills in one of those factors very easily. But you never know, she might not have been considered.

Here's to hoping. It would be extremely bizarre if they brought back Pac-Land without the intent of her sprite being programmed to vanish when she is playable on that stage.

TBH, with my current thoughts, I get the feeling that every veteran and newcomer has been considered for echo possibilities when the decision to include these characters came to pass. Just thinking about the extent of echo consideration to third-party characters to even Fire Emblem characters again, I get the feeling Ms. Pac-Man was one considered for sure.

Also Ms. Pac-Man was part of the Pac-Land stage? Have you seen footage of the stage in the E3 demo? I never knew about it in my few matches in Pac-Land way back in Smash 4.

Very interesting, I am keeping my eyes on Ms. Pac-Man then. It seems like if Ms. Pac-Man could get in Pac-Land just fine back then, then getting in as a character would not be a huge problem. It is almost as suspicious as the Big Boss costume disappearing from Snake, and Chrom/Dark Samus palettes disappearing in the demo.

You're actually really right, while in terms of translation they're spot-on, their character speculation content tend to be very faulty and not very dynamic in perspective, as a result it tends to be very inconsistent in quality (Like how does Magolor get a higher score than Bandana Dee or Pauline get a 1%?), it can also be slightly biased in perspective sometimes so at the moment I'm a little weary of what they have to say.

Yeah, just remember they are individual people rating them, so newcomer chances may vary.

Still, I suggest Source Gaming should take more time to rate these characters, but they mostly do the analyses for fun, and the videos are made to be easily digestible to a wide audience anyway.

I think it is better to use Source Gaming as a resource to research on Sakurai interviews to form your own speculative thoughts on newcomers rather than relying on SG's perspectives.

1. Hanafuda
2. Chorus Kids
3. Skull Kid
4. Dixie Kong
5. Geno

A little iffy about:
1. Elma
2. Leon Kennedy
3. Octolings
4. Lip

The rest I have no confidence for as of now for the base game.

Welp. That just happened.

As much as I loved that direct, I think I lost 100% interest in speculating for Smash Ultimate DLC.

The only thing I can say is that I'm confident that Sora will be DLC, otherwise, I have no clue what DLC will bring in store.
