Well, it helps to say the MOVESETS AND EVERYTHING ELSE. Honestly, how do people know what you know, what set, ect. No one can tell if it's good, I say that it's horrible considering that you have only 5 pokemon and can't hit physically.

Read the stickies.

Look. I don't want to go into specifics. I'm asking what Pokemon is most effective TYPE WISE for my teams weaknesses?

you have 3 pokemon that are weak to psychic, and only one that resists it. I recommend picking a pokemon that is strong at that. You also have at least 2 pokemon that are weak to the following types: ghost, Dark, Electric, Ice. Magnezone is resistant to all of those types... Just saying. Anyway, you have more to worry about than typing if you want to get into competitive battling.

Ah. Oh well. I think I'll stick with a poison heavy team...

It may not be that wise, but I'm just going by the Pokemon I like...

VILEPLUME
GENGAR
CROBAT
ALAKAZAM
GOLDUCK

I'm making a mostly poison/psychic team, but what would be the most effective Pokemon to put in my 5th slot to counter my weaknesses? Keep in mind: My Vileplume is the most likely one to get booted if the occasion calls for it...
you have only one phy poke so y is this a poision/ phi team? but o well
Vileplume? a better choice would be Roserade, but idc
Gengar? maybe. a good pokemon but never really liked it for some reason :/
Crobat? i love this pokemon so yeah you should keep it IMO
Alakazam meh okay i guess
Golduck? unless u are using it solely for its unquie abilties then you should change it

all in all a blissey can screw over your team, as all with the exeption on golduck are special sweepers.

rating 1.5/5

I was asking who to put into my 6th slot. Not a rating.

Golduck learns psychic moves.

It was as close as I could get...

Also, I put Beedrill in my 6th slot. Why? Cause beedrill is pimp.

I guess this makes this just a mainly poison team, huh? Nothin' wrong with that...

TYPE WISE? It doesn't matter bout types here. Teams posted here are supposed to be for competitive battling. Being "TYPE WISE" won't save you from major threats like INFERNAPE, AZELF, DEOXES-E and friends. If you don't want specifics, then you will be screwed over by all of the current metagame.

QFT.
If you don't even have the attention span to build a team of 6, let alone read the stickies or the ****ing rules, then you shouldn't post.
@boo836: You forgot Garchomp.

Garchomp almost every team, the best counter to it's scarfcress.

Woopy, if you don't know where the stickies are, they are the ones at the top of the list. I highly suggest that if you want to go competitive, then I reccomend that you read them.

THE ENTIRE POINT of this thread was to ask opinions on who to put in my 6th slot. SIMPLE QUESTION OF OPINION. I put the thread here because obviously this would be the place to ask. But people just complained that I didn't put in their moves or stats.

MetaKnight, thank you for actually giving a clear opinion and not acting like I've done something wrong.

Do you want their moves and stats? I'LL GIVE YOU THEIR MOVES AND STATS. I just REALLY didn't need this much guff over, not just any video-game, but a POKEMON GAME. Seriously? This much trouble over just a simple question relating to an important game mechanic in something that is almost embarrassing to play competitively? Try saying that three times fast.

*also* I laugh at metagame. Look where it put Mewtwo in SSBM. Metagame destroys good, fun play. But I guess we're playing to win...

It's better, but not by much. For starters, you posted levels which means you aren't aware of the fact that everyone just uses D/P's wi-fi lv. 100 feature to just have battles with Pokemon lv. 100.
Next, you didn't post EVs(Effort Values), the heart of the Pokemon metagame. It's really hard to learn about EVs at first but if you read the stickied thread at the Poke Center about 10 times and try it out for yourself, it'll become second nature.
Speaking of which, all of these natures are wrong. As you may not know, natures raise certain stats of a Pokemon and lower others (also in stickies). The natures you have right now, either don't benefit the Pokemon or hinder them. I suggest you look up which natures are beneficial for each of your Pokemon and rebreed for them.
Making a type themed team is OK as long as you cover your weaknesses, but not really recomended as it lowers your coverage to a certain degree. I'm not dissuading you; if you still want to make a poison type team, it's OK.
As for your team building, having a team filled with sweepers(Pokemon focused on attacking only) is not a good idea. A proper team needs walls (Defensive focused Pokemon) to last in this metagame.
HMs shouldn't be used in competitive battling unless they're surf and waterfall. Most HMs have little power or can be easily replaced by another move.
Some research should be done to discover main strengths of your Pokemon. For example, your Alakazam:
Alakazam @ ?
Ability: ?
Bashful Nature (+nothing -nothing)
EVs: ?/?/?/?/?/?
~Recover
~Snatch
~Disable
~Psychic
(Proper format)

A Pokemon like Alakazam is built for sp. atk sweeping and has really poor defenses. Here you've given it 1 attacking move and 3 status moves that it will never get to use/be useful. Instead, give Alakazam more sp. atk moves. I can't pull Alakazam's moveset out of my memory but I think Thunderbolt and Hidden Power [Ice] would be some good ones.
Adding on to that, don't use two moves of the same type. Take your Golduck for example, it knows both surf and waterfall. In any given situation(unless it's intentionally mixed which is highly unorthodox), Golduck would use one move over the other and the other move is just a waste of a moveslot that could have a beneficial attack.
Also, you have posted no items. A pokemon needs to be holding an item that will assist it in battle such as Leftovers or a Choice Band. Items such as Amulet coin or Exp. share do not help a Pokemon in a wireless/wi-fi match and shouldn't be used. Items like Mystic water or splash plate only affect one type which isn't particularly useful and can be easily replaced. Items such as Quick Claw, Scope Lens, and Lax Incense, are banned from the metagame due to their reliance on luck.

As for that metagame comment, in smash you can use items where in Pokemon you can't (Potions, X-attack, etc.). So unless you just want to beat the rest of the kids at your school, going competitive is the only way to go. Also, tiers are for queers, if the SBR says Mewtwo is bottom tier, that doesn't mean you shouldn't play him. It just means that Mewtwo has the least amount of potential of being the best. That doesn't mean Mewtwo won't have it's level of high competitive play. A professional Mewtwo can beat a n00b Fox. I even use Pachirisu, Wigglytuff, and Cherrim in my battles (for the record I'm a heterosexual male).
Pokemon is intended, even by the developers, to be played competitively. Evidence can be found in PBR and its Electvire and Magmortar. Pokemon can be as competitive as smash bros. and it is not in the slightest embarassing to play.

In Summary, read the stickies and use google.
Sorry for making you read this Wall of Text, but it will make you better in the long run.

You're also asking how to make your team competitive.

Read what Jigglyppuff8 posted above. Read the stickies as well. =)

btw, I dont see why playing pokemon is embarrasing and playing smash isn't.

*also* Metagame is top play. There's no way to make every character equal, and there's no way to make every pokemon equal. Some characters will always be better than others. Deal with it or play mario party.

Heterosexual male. Pink text? "Jigglypuff8"? Heh, You rock. :)

That's kind of what I meant. I really like Mewtwo and felt kind of jacked when everybody thought he sucked (though he was hard to use...).

Anyway, thanks for the info, but now I feel kind of stupid...

I like my Pokemon's natures :p

Scope Lens is one of the luck items that can be used in competitive battling. When used by Absol or Honchkrow, it boosts the critical rate of their moves to 33% - 50%. This is high enough of a percentage to make the deciding factor in a game.

However, most people won't battle you and hax items are usually banned, not to mention just waste an item.

Well, I finally got my Pokemon infected with the Pokerus...

I heard about it's benefits on Serebii.net. Then I had an infected Pokemon for a while, but I was just to lazy to bother to spread it. I guess that was just me being stupid again...

SCYTHER (which is going to be evolved into a Scizor)
What item should be put here?
Docile
Info will be provided when it evolves

Scyther's pretty good on its own even though it's UU. Not too bad a Pokemon for a NFE (Not Fully Evolved). Just saying.

ELECTRODE
Probably going to be given a Splash Plate...
Rash (Not the nature I was aiming for, but think about it. It's in character...)
No info as of now 'cause I'm a lazy ****...or...something...
Rash is suprisingly OK. (Never thought of it that way :/ ). + sp. atk for thunderbolt and whatever else electrode does. And no - atk for explosion.
GENGAR lvl 58 (STAYS)
With a Spooky Plate
Jolly
attacks: Dark Pulse, Destiny Bond, Night Shade, Confuse Ray.

Nature is close but still bad. Gengar is looking for Timid or Modest(Yes, it's out of character.) Gengar likes moar special moves: Sludge Bomb, T-bolt, Shadow Ball, HP-Ice if you're patient. Destiny bond is OK if you sash(term meaning give it a Focus sash which most of the time prevents OHKOs better than Focus band.) Shadow Ball is Dark Pulse with STAB and more coverage (methinks).

CROBAT lvl 62 (almost lvl 63) (STAYS)
With a Poison Plate
Brave
attacks: Fly, Confuse Ray, Poison Fang, Bite.
...Confuse Ray is the only good move I see on this set. Nature needs to be + speed. Hypnosis needs to be put in here somewhere(? DA*MIT PLATINUM).
ALAKAZAM lvl 63 (STAYS)
With a Mind Plate
Bashful
attacks: Recover, Snatch, Disable, Psychic. <----Needs some real help right here.
Read Gengar.
GOLDUCK lvl 63 (STAYS)
With a Splash Plate
Impish
attacks: Disable, Waterfall (this move is going to be replaced soon anyway), Zen Headbutt (I'm thinkin' psychic...), Surf.
*IF YOU WANT MORE STATS JUST ASK*
Don't use plates, they're horrible. They even supply less power than their previous gen counterparts, and those weren't good to begin with. DON'T USE ITEMS THAT RAISE A CERTAIN TYPE(with the exception of last resort ambipom if you aren't too keen on losing 10 every turn).

I apologize in advance but, U NEEDZ MOAR RESERCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111!one!1 Natures and EVs are the Wavedashing and L-canceling of Pokemon. Movesets are the spacing and mindgames! Also, you should be a little less stubborn on changing your pokemon and natures.
