Since Monolith is now a second party developer for Nintendo, can we expect a character from them? If so, who should it be?

I've heard suggestions for Kalas and K.O.S-M.O.S. Remember, K.O.S.-M.O.S. fulfills the requirement to be eligible thanks to Xenosaga I & II on the DS.

It's likely that they'll only get some trophies. Monolith only became a second-party in May, which is likely much too late to stuff in an unplanned character.

Xenosaga characters wouldn't be good reps because the main series is entirely on the PS2. There just happens to be a Japan-only DS remake of the first two games on the DS. It's hardly a significant appearance on a Nintendo console. A Baton Kaitos character would be a better choice since its a GC-based series.

Yeah, I mean, obviously, another sword user with wings totally beats a robot chick who can handle guns and other assortment of attacks.

Did I say that? I'm talking only on the merits of the Monolith's two franchises as a whole, not whether one character is cooler than another. Let me reiterate: I don't think Monolith will get any representative, but Baten Kaitos has a much stronger link to Nintendo than Xenosaga, so I think that series would be more worthy of a representative.

Not to mention that Kalas has blue hair like Ike and Marth. Not to mention that he has a terrible fashion sense.

I was being sarcastic, but overall KOS-MOS would be a better character, I mean. She would be way more unique, and known, than Kalas. Sure Baten Kaitos started on the Gamecube, but it never reached the fame of the Xenosaga series.

In any case, popularity isn't to judge why they are more worthy in Brawl, you also have to look at the potential. KOS-MOS would just have more potential than Kalas to be very unique. Kalas would just be another fantasy-style sword-user, kinda like Link or Meta-Knight, which was only cool for them but after a while it honestly gets very old. I would much rather the more unique KOS-MOS.

Luke Groundwalker is totally correct again.

KOS-MOS would be a great choice. Also, I hear rumors of a new Xenosaga series for Nintendo consoles, which makes me =)

Why could it NEVER happen exactly?
Well let's see, because that is a ******** idea and there are better characters to fill the spot.

Oh, that's my opinion? Well I like my sound-minded opinion better than your based-on-jack-**** wild guess.

How 'bout the fact the character belongs to Nintendo... No one said the character will be in, they said the inclusion is possible since it belongs to nintendo...

Wow, your just a ******* aren't you? ...and a horrible flamer

K.O.S-M.O.S. seems interesting but I have to say that Kalas stands more merit as being a character from their company. He is the star of a series they made just for nintendo so theres much more connection there. Plus, his summons and powers from his game makes him unique enuff to not just be another blue haired sword character.

Possible, maybe. So why make a **** thread about it? This is dumber than the Sonic thread.

Excellent vocabulary and grammar? Check out your double usage of the triple period trail-off preceded by a slack-jawed 'wow' sarcastically added to amplify my turmoil at your wretched attempt at argument.

Then go **** yourself.

Hummm, on 2nd thought it seems that their "main" series is Xenosaga.:ohwell:
IDK, they both stand merit now IMO.

Uh...

Well then you must be jerking off to your own satisfaction. Congratulations, you have successfully pored over an anthology of useless forum posts for hours upon wasted hours and consider yourself an experienced Smash veteran. You may now match wits with a common-sense flamer who has an extremely down-to-earth idea of the possible characters in Brawl!

Honestly, KOS-MOS? I doubt any 3rd-party characters will show up after Snake.

We've only known each other for a few minutes and you already know me so well...

Do you feel satisfaction in insulting other people and their idea's/ wishes? You must be a blast at parties...wait, that would mean you would actually need a life now would it?

The OP knows there is little chance, just expanding your limited mind with the knowledge it could be possible...and I'm sure you know the chances of every character making it in...You probably predicted Red before the game was announced...

**** yeah I knew they would do Pokemon Trainer. I can't prove it to you, you don't believe me, but I knew. How else would they add variety to the Pokemon line-up?

Let me see... so by your logic, my mind is expanded by the possibility of KOS-MOS being in Brawl, right? Therefore, you are ****ing ******** and also a douchebag. I came to this board to see things that are plausible, not to run into a **** heap full of ******* such as yourself who defend the imaginary rights of your ****** kin to post topics in the nature of their mental disabilities.

So to put it frankly: I don't know you, I know your type. Self-righteous idealists who think everyone should have a say. Well if that were true, there would be upwards of 200 characters in Brawl, and the game would span six disks.

Everyone should have a say. He's not saying she will be in Brawl, simply suggesting it. It's silly to invest anger in not wanting another character in.

Of course KOS-MOS won't be in Brawl, that's completely obvious.

But she is possibly a Nintendo character now, and if she happens to be 2nd party she has a HUGE chance in being in a later Smash game, no one can deny that, that's simply common sense in itself. Yeah, she was a sh-tty character in an okay RPG game, but she would be a great and original fighter, and wouldn't be too hard to make a good moveset for her. She has potential, a lot of it.

However, for Brawl? Naw, Monolith Soft was bought out recently, at a time when Brawl's roster was probably completely decided, so I highly doubt any of their characters would be in on that alone.

**** it they just put in whoever they want anyway. Case and point Ice Climbers and Pokemon Trainer, popularity may have a little to do with it but potential means **** all.

Nintendo is the majority stock holder of Monolith, they don't have the rights to any of Monolith's stuff.

Oh and KOS-MOS is my third most wanted character behind Isaac and Ridley but we all know she won't be in.

Oh and to Psycho Incarnate and 2woShots this is one of those times where i'm kicking myself for not saving that picture of the kid at the "special" Olympics with the caption "arguing online is a lot like the special Olympics, win or lose you still just look ********." so as that i could post it here for you two.

Well, to get back on topic, I would love a Monolith character, although I don't think it will happen. Afterall, Monolith was bought semi-recently, so time to add characters isn't enough. KOS-MOS would be great, but let me jsut say it now...

Out of curiousity, both Baten Kaitos and Xenosaga have copyrights to Namco, does that mean Nintendo would need Namco's permission for the characters of those games (which I believe wouldn't be too difficult since the two companies have a good relationship) in a similar situation to Geno?

If the Namco character was Pac-man...*shudder*

As for the discussion, Kalas wouldn't bother me. Kosmos would.

SSBB doesn't need any female robots dressed like hookers, thanks.

Using that logic, SSBB doesn't need and more winged blade users (we already have 2 as it is), especially ones with such horrible designs.

Admittedly, Kalas is more Nintendo friendly as Baten Kaitos is Nintendo exclusive while Xenosaga is more associated with the PS2, but Xenosaga is a much more recognizable series and a much more successful one, not to mention KOS-MOS herself has made many cameo appearances in other games, while Kalas has only stared in his single title. That and as pointed out, KOS-MOS offers far more originality and uniqueness as a character.

Still, I doubt we'll see more out of them than AT's, as Monolith Soft was more than likely purchased too late for any character additions to be possible.

Yeah, since she would be totally original move-wise, she would be the worst addition!
The lead character from Day of Disaster would be totally original move-wise as well. Doesn't mean we'll see him, either.

And the "hawt robot in skanky clothing" stereotype has been absolutely DONE TO DEATH.

We don't need that in SSBB.

That and as pointed out, KOS-MOS offers far more originality and uniqueness as a character.
Uhh, have you watched, you know, anime? Kosmos is about as original as the Madden sequels.

The "asskicking female robot" has been done to death, and I'm sorry, but she IS dressed like a prostitute.

If I saw a woman on the street dressed like this, I'd immediately assume she's for rent...or a cosplayer...who might also be for rent.

I have no definite answer but I assume the character rights were kept by Monolith who is now second-party. Namco, I believe, still has publishing rights to the already released games.

Yeah, but it hasn't been done in Brawl, so she would be original for it, despite her not being original otherwise. I realize she's a sh-tty character in terms of who she is and her personality, but for Brawl, she would be the perfect fighter and very unique. She would fit right in, and would be very original compared to the other cast.
