...but really, it's February. Whenever I think of February I think of of a couple things. Valentine's Day being one of them.

I'm not sure if I like this holiday. I think it's one of the more pointless holidays. I'm pretty sure in most places it's dedicated to giving your "special someone" a special gift or spending more time with them, etc.

That's nice and all but I guess I don't understand why you'd need a day to show how much you love them. You should already be showing it. Though for others I'm sure it's a good opportunity to make a move.

I don't know, I'm indifferent on Valentine's Day. From what I see either people love it or absolutely hate it. Or just don't care. Whichever. I'm probably thinking too much into this or just missing the point of it entirely.

EDIT: Haha, whoops. I guess what I'm asking is what is Valentine's like for everyone else? I can't decide for myself and am a little interested in what others think.

But seriously, it's the BIGGEST waste!! It's so just another excuse to blow money. A pure definition of "commercial" holiday. I mean, at least Christmas has ties to something important. Halloween, Easter, shoot, Labor Day even, lol But Valentines? Meh. Just another day to spend money. I used to hate swapping Valentines day cards w/the rest of my class in grade school. I always got the crappy ones, cause no one liked me. Then finally I got into Junior High, and instead I got nothing, cause no one liked me, but all the "popular" kids got candy grams or whatever. Just another day to remind me I was a social outcast. Bah! At least in high school no one really cared anymore, it was that day you either had a significant other, or didn't, and if you did you bought them crap, and if not, you tried to hit on someone else who was single, but it never worked out...

now, well I'm married, lol so we use it as an excuse to allay our guilt for spending money we don't have on things we don't need. works out just fine, normally, though this year will be tight, all i want for Valentine's Day is my Tax Refund. ><

But if I were single I'd send you a mini baseball bat to match your Ness cap

My view on the holiday... it's somethiing I love and hate. I hate... HATE seeing happy couple's PDAing everywhere while I've always been alone. Valentine's Day? More like Single's Awareness Day.

But... I guess I'll one day I'll end up loving it... when I actually do get to buy gifts for someone. To be honest, I like the prospect. It's a great opportunity to show that one cares, and it may even get you something in return.

My take on Valentine's day is kind of the same as Chris's. For the past couple of years I've gotten nothing on Valentine's Day while everyone around me did. I had to watch my friends right next to me receive gifts and I was left with nothing. It really makes me feel alone and kinda crappy. Same with Christmas, at least as far as school goes. Same deal, it seems like everyone but me is receiving gifts. My group of friends usually don't get each other anything cuz we're poor, especially me, so I don't expect anything from them personally, since I'd feel bad for not getting them anything.

But yeah, a little rantish there. I imagine I'll somewhat enjoy the "Holiday" when I'm not so lonely. =/

I think Valentines Day is pointless. It is a holidays meant to increase card and flower sales. Cause really, how often do you buy roses... at all? It's an excuse for guys to say "hey baby, com'on it's valentines day (no condom -> teen pregnancy -> all sorts of situations costing me my tax dollars)." It's also an excuse for my friends college students to throw tacky parties where sl**s w/ all kinds of diseases aggregate. Other than that, the bright red shiny hearts everywhere becomes annoying.

I liked Valentine's Day when I was a kid, but as I've gotten older, I've become indifferent. I think the amount of value placed on one day for couples is a bit much.

That being said, I've seen guys buy a veritable metric tonne of stuff for their ladies. And I always think, "Gosh, I hope someone's getting laid tonight. For the amount you just spent."

But seriously, I used to think Valentines day was a good holiday....when I was 14 lol. After that It became " I'm going out with her and Valentines day is coming up. She knows that I just got my paycheck and she's probably expecting overly priced chocolate and a dinner that will cost half my paycheck" =/. Guys, this is why you date girls after Love day an dump them before it lol j/k
