A new stage has been shown today, and unlike the others shown, it’s not just a flat stage with the odd platform. Rumble Falls, based from DK: Jungle Beat, is similar to one of the more frantic (and thusly disliked) stages of Melee, Icicle mountain, as the stage itself doesn’t move, but the Camera (and Line of death) moves up and down the stage. However, unlike Icicle mountian, the movments aren’t random, and only seem to talk about moving up, and slowly at that.

<!--more-->
Another plus is that the stage, unlike Icicle mountain, is a lot bigger. And looks more fun to interact with, which might bring a new gameplay element in too. Notice Mario’s climbing the ladder?

<img src="http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stages/images/stage07/stage07_070723b-l.jpg" alt="Bip boop bip boop bip boop. I loved Jumpman's moving sounds." />

Funny thing is, with all the talk of moving upwards, there’s an actual end to the top of the stage. But even then, sakurai says “The top of the waterfall isn’t the top! Keep climbing! Hey! What’s at the top? Huh? Hmm…I wonder…”

Of course it could be something like that yelow thing in the background becoming a platform that will take you down to the bottom (unless you don’t get on in time and fall to your death)

1st. I think the yellow thing in the background looks like a plane, did anyone notice in the 2nd pic theres a button in the middle of the platform, theres even some in the 1st pic.

1st post! the jungle theme is nice and pretty, and the stage sounds really cool, but has any one noticed its a bit like the classic donkey kong stage? i mean, if you played with mario and dk and you made dk throw rolling barrels, and mario could only single jump and climb ladders, it would be allot like donkey kong. oh and that yellow thing is a plane.

When I first saw this stage the amount of discust on my face can not be explained (I clearly despised icicle mountain), but after thinking about it for a while I realized that this stage may not only be a good choice but a brilliant stage. The fact that it moves slowly allows not only the gravity ******** character equal play like everyone else but also allows you to focus on the match more. The fact that it moves allows the stage a constant feeling of refreshment (like pokemon stadium)

Also the fact that you can climb on the latters opens up new areas of strategy (watch expert smashers come up with some new advanced move to compensate it). Just hope to can attack while climbing, or jump off it farely easily. The final thing I want to mention about the stage is the diversity compared to icicle mountain, in icicle mountain the whole stge accomidated only one kind of character (like most stages), but this stge looks like it changes the platforms a bit more wisely, look at the wall on pic one and the airplane of pic three. Since the stage while slowly changes so drastically, each kind of character has a section in the stage that accomidates his/her battle stategy making the stage in a sense equal. Lets just hope the stage isn’t as hectic as icicle mountain.

I believe that the less popular stages/modes/characters may not get the axe like we have so believed but rather renovations for the better (ex. mute city- Isle Delfino, icicle mountain- Rumble Falls, Single player mode, Crates and Barrels?

I can already hear the hate comment from Kirbykid for what i’m about to say but what about the possibilities of seeing a better improved coin mode/bonus mode or offspring of such. Better yet who would dig a pokeball mode or item mode where only attacking with that medium does any affect. You can have your own personalized pokemon match or item showdown. Or a massively overhauled Stamina mode which is customizable and goes in the normal catagory (with stock and time) rather than special melee (bleh).

Sorry for my sudden burst of ramble, I just think this stage opens a door of possibilities most may or may not contend with. ^_^

I hope this is another Rainbow Cruise or Pokefloats instead of another Infinite Mountain. Those ladders are gonna be crazy.

Sigh, if only this could’ve been climbing scaffolding with barrels plummeting down at you. lol

i think that thing in the last pic is definatly an airplane like ivan said and at the top of that….looks like some platforms…and their art looks close to that stage that is above the clouds….the one were those three platroms break….also the stage were it first showed dr wright…or left…or whatever…..but tat stage wasnt from any donkey kong game….was it?

what are the little pools of water for? and what about the buttons? any ways, when i first read this article, i was a little disappointed… i thought from just the first pic it was just a giant screen filling stage full of lots of platforms… but i guess the slow scrolling thing is pretty cool… i hated ice mount. it was too jumpy… maby the buttons make it jump down a bit, or make it rain barrels, or set off a whole bunch of clap traps… or maby something else… oh well i guess we’ll find out on dec. 3rd!

Love the stage, disapoiting at first but in a second look i realized it might be something fresh and fun. Maybe that yellow plane can take you up there to that stage at the top were nothing moves around or maybe the plane takes you back down to the beggining. I didnt play DK: Jungle Beat, someone who has played the game might know what that at the top is… =/

The only thing is i dont understand why they would make another stage like the iceclimbers one, when it WASNT that popular. That was the worst board ever. I guess they need moving boards though

Well Falco, if you look at icicle mountain as a experimental stage (cause really that basically is) then you can see exactly why this stge is modeled after it. This is like a upgraded icicle mounatain (mone direction, slower movement, more diversity in the stage). Icicle mountain was a bad stage yes, but there was some good qualities in the stage and many possibilities missed.

I don’t think Icicle Mountain itself was that bad, it was just that the CPU would focus more on climbing.

H

No it was that anyone playing on that stage had to focus on climbing. Not fun!

Good point homeless, and your rigt, it was more a survival stage then a fighting stage

And then you have to think that the stage never made its mind on it’s direction and speed. You could be near the bottom or top when the game got stupid and changed speed or direction. Instant death.

I’m not a Coin/Bonus mode hater. I just think the developers let us down in those areas.

But this stage has lots of promise. I think they’re seriously learning from all of their mistakes. Icicle Mountain was randomly generated wasn’t it. If so, that’s why the level was so sloppily designed.

I played and conquered Jungle Beat. It’s seriously one of the best games ever.

Yeah it seemed like alot of things in brawl were slopily made. It seemed like they really rushed that game. (oh and its good to have you back Kirbykid)

Ah, happy to hear from you Kirbykid.

So do you agree that this could be an overall improvement in icicle mountain signifying that brawl may show a significant upgrade in some of the minor faulted modes/stages like Isle delfino, the new story, rumble falls have theoretically so far.

I really hope they put stamina mode with the ranks of Stock and Time. It would really take away the Bill holes placed in the game (such as the popular Corneria stages fin.

Falco, they did rush the game. I actually have a paragraph about it in the Deoxys blog. it explains alot and it’s almost entirely factual based. You should read it, not hard to miss.

Icicle Mountain was not randomly generated, but it did loop.

why imagine it when you can. Go do it right now if you wish. Ultimate red shells and sudden death on final destination is the way to go for me.
