A big Snake weakness, atleast, I think...

Is his lack of defensive airial options. Sure, he's freaking decked on the ground, with Nikita, grenades, mines, and even more fun tools, but none of his airial moves are very good for defensive maneauvers.

As far as I know, the only option Snake seems to have once he's been knocked into the air is to airdodge whatever attacks come your way, get on the air ASAP, and start your offensive all over again.

Is there any way that Snake could possibly turn a defensive situation back into an offensive situation?

You meant, "get on the ground ASAP", right?

As for your question though, You're right his aerial defense isn't great, but it exists.

For physical aerials, Timing full hopped nairs to catch your opponent if you see them
approaching actually works. Learned that mostly from facing Ruckus here on the boards, as in he caught me with it haha. Bairs pulled out at the last moment when it seems as if you're vulnerable but you're just waiting for your opponent to get in range work to give yourself space as well. Bair's can hit as far as Snake's head. O.o.

Another nice trick is, when you're knocked way up vertically, drop a C4 and DI out of the path of it's fall. You can then time your detonation of it so that it hits your opponent if they try to approach from below. Definitely works. Oh, and don't forget there's always the good ol' nade, when worst comes to worst, you pull a nade out in the air and hope that once the opponent hits you, it doesn't kill you and the explosion gives you some breathing room.

his aerialD is good. i have no clue what either of you are trying to say.

if the opponent attacks from:

the front? then Nair
behind? Bair
below? Dair
above? Uair

easy and effective, k? low lag with each move too

I'd prefer to just stick it out with Bair though. Since it has good priority and ish. Just adjust to other aerial moves when I feel its more beneficial XD

i mostly use nair. land it on the last kick and there is no lag, you are free to do whatever.

also, random snake tip : use all tilts repeatedly, all match.

...Though you're G-reg and all, that's one of the most ridiculously basic thing a Snake should be doing.

But then again, you're G-reg, so I take the advice to heart.

Yeah, the only time I have a real problem when using Snake is when I'm trying to get back to the stage. I believe it is just something you have to get used to and learn what to use in certain situations. It is also important to read your opponents well and know when they are going to attack you so you don't air dodge or attack before they are actually approaching.

Bair and Uair are good, quick moves with solid priority, but nair and dair (especially dair) don't seem very good for defense. Dair has a little bit of startup time and the priority isnt great. Characters with a good uair will eat right through it. Air dodging seems like the best tactic when you're trying to get out of a juggle.

i mean, but really why go into the air unless you have to? if you get KNOCKED into the air just Up B and close throw grenades straight up and air dodge on the way down. i never use nair. dair i only use out of shield. best bet other wise in just bair since the hit box is all around him.

I live in Ohio. Which is in the United States. Whi
He is true to his name in being snake, hes more of a ground guy. Its obvious, unless you never played his games. Stealth and defense are the plan, and high attack power too. I mean, he has a rocket launcher. That has to hurt. And where he carries it? Thats the thing. Making it more realistic (in a video game, I think the programmers miss the point, but anyway) in that he is heavier and doesnt have as much mobility as others. At least thats what i believe. But onto strategy, all you really can do is dodge and drop C4 like Abit Rusty said. Works wonders man.

In Soviet Russia, Snake tilts you!

But yes, g-reg speaks the truth. His tilts own more face than a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick.

I guess it's a problem when people are chasing you, but other than that Snake gets a rather decent defense with his Up+B. From what I remember, doesn't he get super armor throughout the whole move? I don't think I ever remember fighting against him and knocking him out of his Up+B.

I take back everything I said about Dair approaching being bad after DSF killed me in tournament on my last stock with it.

Naaaa it still sucks, DSF is just that good.

i think its similar to yoshi's double jump, it gives a lot of "weight" but if high enough percentage or strong enough attack, he can get knocked off his upb with a little launch distance, but u can always upb again, that is, if u dont die haha.

hmm.. i usually upb above the screen and while coming down, downb, or short handed gernade throws and air dodge.

though, i find it hard aganist faster characters or characters with long range, such as marth and olimar, i never tried nair defense, i should try it sometime.

No, Up-B does give super armor, it just depends on the attack that hits him, and/or when he gets attacked.
